The Employee Experience

Being an employee at Yosemite National Park is unlike any experience you have had so far, guaranteed! Our commitment to service and the friendliness of our staff, combined with the adventurous and exciting atmosphere ensures that your time in Yosemite is memorable.

Our staff size varies from depending on the time of year. We average 1,000 employees year round and can jump to 1500 in the summer season. We are a year round park with lots of opportunity to make this your home. We pride ourselves in being a strong community and stewards of Yosemite National Park to help preserve this beautiful park.

Yosemite is full of rich history and many opportunities to try new things. You are surrounded by breath taking views and opportunities to visit iconic landmarks such as Half Dome and El Capitan. On days off you can take advantage of the park by exploring the sites in the valley, or take a drive to the high country and experience the beauty of the park without another person in site. You can also take the opportunity to adventure to one of the many groves of giant Sequoia trees across the park.

In the summer employees can take advantage of rafting, hiking, rock climbing and more. In the winter we offer ice skating, skiing, snow tubing, and cross country skiing. There is something for everyone!

Yosemite is filled with individuals with the passion for hospitality, love for the outdoors, and are adaptable to community living. The ideal candidate for Yosemite is someone who is ready to experience new things, meet new people and have the adventure of a lifetime.

We are looking for the individual who can embrace the beauty of the park, be a steward for this land, and take a guest service approach in everything they do. Our employee's bond together as a community and support one another.

Be ready to work hard, play hard, and make friendships that will last a lifetime and memories for ever!

Housing rates vary based on position and the type of housing available.

If you are new to Yosemite, plan on very basic accommodations, including canvas tents and rustic cabins.

Room sizes vary between buildings and properties, however, for the most part, rooms are considered small and you will have 1-2 roommates. Please plan accordingly. All housing have limited storage.

We provide the basic furniture of a bed, dresser/locker, and bear boxes for food storage. You are required to bring your own linen and bedding. If you join us, we will send you a full packing list to help with your transition to the park.

We offer discounts on most food operations in the park and at grocery stores (exceptions apply). We also offer community kitchens for those who prefer to cook for themselves. We do offer a gym, activity center, laundry facilities, community center and more available to employees. Amenities vary based on your location in the park.

In the summertime, residents can apply to move into the Environmental Living and Learning Community (ELLC). This small neighborhood focuses on what it truly means to be steward of the land but conserving their energy and water usage. They bond together to teach others how to live sustainable lives in Yosemite National Park. (https://www.travelyosemite.com/employment/environmental-living-learning-community/
