  • Cooks - Advanced

    The Advanced Cook is an advanced skill level position responsible for preparing meals and following establishment recipes including preparing ingredients, adhering to restaurant menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver quality food in a fast-paced environment. Work may include operating a grill, oven, or fryer.

  • Housekeeping

The Grand Hotel is a 3-diamond hotel that has 121 standard and deluxe guest rooms and is located only one mile from the south entrance of the Grand Canyon.

    Housekeeping cleans guest rooms and suites to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service. Reports maintenance deficiencies, handles guests’ requests and ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms and suites.

    The Details:

    Responsibilities:

    • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
    • Clean assigned guest accommodations to Company standards (within allocated time period) including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, amenities, removing dirty linens, cleaning outside guest rooms, in hallways and surrounding grounds.
    • Control all keys, master and guest room keys, and maintain security of guest rooms, both vacant and occupied.
    • Strictly follow standards in cleaning stay over rooms in dealing with guest’s property.
    • Follow instructions given by Inspector, Supervisor or Management regarding having to return to the room to correct any discrepancies.
    • Strictly follow all lost and found procedures. Immediately report lost and found items to the Inspector, Supervisor or Management.
    • Report any maintenance related problems to the Inspector, Supervisor or Management immediately.
    • Stock cart neatly and safely, according to standards as instructed.
    • Follow instructions in use of all chemicals and cleaning agents.
    • Practice and adhere to environmental and risk management procedures, including recycling and morning stretch to ensure a safe working environment. Report any safety problems immediately to your supervisors.
    • Wear required personal protective equipment while performing tasks.
    • Effectively performs tasks without close supervision.
    • Other duties as assigned


    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of rooms and hotel layout of The Grand Hotel property, including general knowledge of available services with the ability to convey information to the guests.
    • Previous experience in a housekeeping or custodial position.
  • Human Resources Manager

    The Human Resources Manager will manage the day-to-day operation of HR processes and functions at The Grand Hotel and Tusayan Trading Post. Responsible for ensuring compliance and objective decision-making in the following areas; employee relations, recruitment and hiring, employee housing, record-keeping, data entry, implementation of policies and procedures, training, etc. 

    Type: This is a full-time, year-round position. 
    Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 / Salaried Exempt

    Qualifications:

    • Previous knowledge of HR practices and principles.
    • Must possess the ability to effectively and objectively manage and administer a broad range of responsibilities: employee relations, recruiting and staffing, housing, record-keeping, data entry, implementation of policies and procedures, training, etc.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to sell employment opportunities with Xanterra Tusayan, LLC The Grand Hotel, Tusayan Trading Post, Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and Xanterra Parks and Resorts.
    • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy. 
    • Knowledge of Microsoft programs with the ability to effectively communicate using Outlook.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn and effectively use new software and proficiency with the Internet.
    • Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational, prioritization skills and multi-tasking abilities.
    • HR Generalist experience with an emphasis on recruiting and employee relations is preferred.
    • PHR Certification and experience in the hospitality industry are a plus.
    • Lawson (HRIS) and Kronos (Timekeeping) program experience are a plus. 
    • Bi-lingual language skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
  • Assistant Kitchen Manager

    The Assistant Kitchen Manager assists in oversight of the Grand Hotel kitchen operation, which may include leadership functions, food preparation functions, sanitization, food handling, procurement, financial planning, and menu development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
    • Provide prompt, attentive and courteous service to dining room guests at all times in accordance with policies on guest service.
    • Accurately take, fill, deliver and charge guest orders for food and beverage using system provided (currently Micros POS system).
    • Be knowledgeable of all menu items including daily food specials, portions, preparation, ingredients and presentation of menu items. Be knowledgeable of wine, beer and liquor.
    • Comply with all State of Arizona alcohol serving laws & company policies (for example: current law requiring requesting proper identification of guests who appear to be under the age of thirty.)
    • Strictly adhere to Arizona State Liquor Laws and Xanterra Alcohol Policy at all times in the serving of alcoholic beverages.
    • Bring any alcohol/intoxication related issues with guests to the immediate attention of the bartender, working lead or Restaurant Manager.
    • Proper and efficient use of the POS system in ordering beverages and keeping voids to an absolute minimum.
    • Describe drink recipes when requested by the guests.
    • Comply with all company Food & Beverage Standards.

    • Perform all opening and closing side duties as assigned, per shift requirement.

    Qualifications:

    • Requires knowledge of various types of beer, wine and liquor to be able to answer questions and make suggestions.
    • Previous front of the house experience as a Server, Cashier, Host, or Expeditor.
    • Knowledge of food sanitation programs and policies.
    • High level guest service skills.

    The Hotel Front Desk Agent professionally greets and welcomes guests upon entrance, provides high-level service while ensuring smooth guest registration and checkout, accurately collects payment, and provides property information to the guests.

    Responsibilities:

    • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
    • Follows all established front desk procedures in carrying out assigned duties.
    • Provides high-level service while registering guests in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner.
    • Handle guest accounts properly including posting of charges, and collection of payment.
      Maintain strict guest security in controlling keys, issuing keys, and divulging guest information.
    • Knowledgeable of property information (hours of operations, activities, etc.) and provide accurate information of Grand Canyon National
    • Park and surrounding areas to guests' inquiries.
    • Responsible to receive a guest’s request or complaint; own it and follow up to verify the request or problem has been resolved to the guest’s satisfaction; involve the supervisor as necessary.
    • Work closely with Unit Housekeeping department to keep status of rooms current and up to date.
    • Work with Bell staff to assist guests with requests as needed.
    • Adhere to all Xanterra Tusayan, LLC lost and found procedures.
    • Maintain bank with accuracy and security; close out at end of shift bank, balance and deposit.
    • Ability to shift priorities and duties as directed by supervisor.

  • Maintenance Associate

    Maintenance & Engineering

    Our Maintenance department looking for a responsible person(s) to perform general maintenance and repair activities associated with the operation Grand Hotel facilities. The position is a full-time year-round opportunity allowing for future growth potential.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in maintaining water softeners according.
    • Pool maintenance.
    • Handle multiple call-outs or work orders, work independently and perform trade call-outs as necessary.
    • Operate designated heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Preventive maintenance programs such as electrical motor troubleshooting to 220 volts, plumbing, refrigeration/HVAC, basic boiler operation and kitchen equipment repair. Keeping within standard code requirements
    • Perform Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
    • Basic carpentry
    • Monthly inspections for safety, risk, and environmental compliance
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Must possess a valid/clear Driver’s License
    • Must be willing and able to acquire CPO Certification within 30 days of employment.
    • Minimum three-years of experience in general building maintenance, or in trades such as electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, etc.
    • Prefer knowledge of concrete, tile, or General Construction.
    • Prefer a high aptitude for interpersonal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of running different equipment is helpful

    Responsibilities:

    • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
    • Understand and adhere to Grand Hotel standards and practices including sanitation and safety policies.
    • Responsible for understanding and practicing proper chemical storage, handling and refill procedures.
    • Works with all distributors with deliveries and ensure product is acceptable and matches invoice, and properly puts all orders away and, received in computer system.
    • Works with co-workers to ensure the proper disposal of trash and cardboard.
    • Deep cleans and organizes kitchen equipment, line, storerooms, walk-in coolers and chemical storage, once per week.
    • Properly stores empty bags, boxes and crates.
    • Keeps all equipment, food and paper properly stored throughout hotel.
    • Notifies supervisor of any problems needing immediate attention.
    • Completes all assignments on Steward Cleaning Schedule.
    • On a rotary basis, deep cleans one piece of kitchen equipment per day according to rotation.
    • Enter orders and receive in Supervisor absence.
    • Other Duties as Assigned


    Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
    • Ability to receive certificate of completion of the Coconino County Food Handlers Course within thirty (30) days of employment.
    • Moderate to advance skills outlook and Excel.
    • Previous experience in high volume food and beverage industry as a Steward or in a line cook or prep cooks capacity.
    • Knowledgeable in food service sanitation standards and first in first out FIFO
