An Alaskan summer you will never Forget!
TEMSCO (an acronym from the words: Timber, Exploration, Mining, Survery, Cargo Operations) was founded in 1958 in Ketchikan, Alaska, and has operated in Alaska ever since. We were the first company to offer helicopter excursions in Alaska and believe that the best way to experience the raw beauty of the great land is from the air.
Skagway was founded during the Klondike Gold Rush, and was Alaska's first city. It has a rich history born from being located on the edge of the last frontier, and a great small town feel combined with the excitement of a city that has an energetic group of seasonal workers that more than doubles our population in the summer. Spend a summer in Skagway and truly experience the great outdoors!

Getting Here and Getting Around
It is the employee’s responsibility to make their own way to Skagway. Though we are only a hundred miles away from two larger metropolitan cities, transportation between these areas does require some planning. The two main cities serving Skagway’s transportation needs are Juneau, AK, and Whitehorse, YT, Canada.
Once in Juneau, you could catch the ferry of the Alaska Marine Highway. This trip takes 6 ½ hours and goes through arguably some of the most breathtaking country you’ll ever see. Another option is to take a small plane with the local commuter airlines. The plane trip is about 45 minutes. While flying between Juneau and Skagway is certainly quicker, understand that even in the middle of the summer planes may not fly, due to low clouds, wind, or other weather. If you decide to fly, you should check the ferry schedule so that you have a backup plan.
We are lucky as far as Southeast Alaskan towns are concerned in that we are connected to the road system. If you're feeling adventurous, you can always drive the few thousand miles to Skagway along the Alcan or Cassiar highways. It's quite the trip!
Skagway is a small town in Southeast Alaska, approximately a mile long (22 blocks) and 4 blocks wide. It is certainly a convenience to have a car, but not necessary. The most common form of transportation is biking. TEMSCO has a limited number of bikes to borrow and some people bring their own. Company housing is a 10-15 minute bike ride to our base located on the waterfront.
This is the land of the Midnight Sun! While Skagway is small you will quickly learn it is filled with adventures for anyone looking. Alaska is the perfect place for anyone that enjoys the outdoors. Employees can enjoy their free time kayaking, camping, fishing, hiking and so much more! As a TEMSCO employee, you will have the opportunity to take part of some phenomenal local excursions at a complimentary or reduced rate. You can spend your free time on a zip line course, horseback riding, on a guided hike or bike tour, river rafting, on a train tour, or boat tours of the Lynn Canal. After your big day of adventure, employees can unwind with dinner at one of Skagway’s great eating establishments, listen to a local band, or roast s’mores around a campfire. The opportunities for fun are limitless!
Responsible for supervising guest’s activities while on the ice which may include a presentation of basic glacier information. This position will assist the lead guide in all areas of the glacier operation. Majority of time is spent out in the elements. Current First Aid and CPR is preferred.
This position is where most first year employees will begin working. Stationed at our helicopter base, you are often the first and last person to interact with our guests, and therefore play an important role in their experience. Your main responsibilities include greeting passengers, outfitting them for their tour, presenting safety information, and assisting passengers on and off helicopters.
