  • Lift Maintenance Electrician

    This position ensures the safe and reliable electrical operation of lifts, with emphasis on proficiency, instruction, safety, and leadership in all areas of Lift Maintenance. This department is responsible for the safe transport of guests and employees on the mountain.     Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Ability to assist in troubleshooting and repair of lift related Industrial Controls, including Programmable Logic Controllers and Drives
    • Utilize technical knowledge, skills, and abilities to optimize equipment downtime, working closely with Lift Mechanics
    • Actively involved in lift emergency procedures and time-dependent repairs
    • Engages around priorities to foster engagement, collaboration, and results
    • Be able to follow safety and risk management policies and procedures
    • Supports the professional growth and development of employees across all levels of the organization
    • Assists with mechanical maintenance of lifts.
    • Implements lift preventative maintenance program established by Lift Maintenance; maintaining all ANSI state and federal regulations.
    • Makes fast and accurate diagnosis of equipment failures in a safe and prudent manner.
    • Adheres to and participates in the company safety program
    • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
    • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
    • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with the lLift Maintenance Manager to diagnose malfunction.
    • Replaces faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
    • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.

    The lift Maintenance Assistant Manager will complete all tasks of a lift maintenance mechanic including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, completing repairs, and preparing lifts for daily operation in compliance with all ANSI B77.1 standards. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a strong ability to coach, train, and teach crew members, and demonstrate outstanding leadership and interpersonal communication capabilities.

     

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the process of hiring and training new employees.
    • Assist with making and revising schedules as seasons change.
    • Assist in digitizing the record-keeping system.
    • Conduct quality control checks on work performed by Lift Maintenance staff.

    Qualifications & Knowledge:

    • Minimum two years of lift maintenance experience preferred.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
    • Must be able to work outside in any weather conditions.
    • Must be able to climb lift towers wearing a fall protection harness, while carrying tools and equipment to troubleshoot / repair issues at heights up to 65 feet while lift may be running.
    • Strong mechanical, low voltage electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting ability.
    • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays when required.
    • Must be able to operate a snowmobile safely in changing weather conditions on open runs with the public on the mountain.

    Criteria for Evaluations

    The Snowsports Instructor is evaluated on performance of duties and take into account a variety of factors some examples are: teaching ability, communication skill, level of guest service, attitude, attendance and punctuality, attire and grooming, initiative, guest comments, student return rate, skiing/riding ability and improvement, technical knowledge, relations with co-workers, and have professionalism, mature and logically sound judgement.

     

    Skill Level I – Non-certified instructor and/or has little to no experience in teaching, guiding, coaching roles

    Skill Level II – PSIA/AASI Level I certification and/or equivalent teaching, guiding, coaching experience and/or relevant recreation or education certifications. Qualified intermediate skiing/riding ability.

    Skill Level III – Current PSIA/AASI Level II certification and/or equivalent teaching, guiding, coaching experience and/or relevant recreation or education certifications. 2+ years teaching within the snowsports industry. Qualified intermediate skiing/riding ability. Must be able to demonstrate and articulate the skiing/snowboarding model at most levels of skiing/riding physically, clearly, and accurately.

    Skill Level IV – Current PSIA/AASI Level III certification and 5+ years teaching within the snowsports industry. Qualified expert skiing/riding ability. Must be able to demonstrate and articulate the skiing/snowboarding model at all levels of skiing/riding physically, clearly, and accurately.

    Skill Level V – Current PSIA/AASI Trainers certification and 10+ years teaching within the snowsports industry. Qualified expert skiing/riding ability. Must be able to demonstrate and articulate the skiing/snowboarding model at all levels of skiing/riding physically, clearly, and accurately. Have the ability and motivation to; Share our traditions of stewardship and inclusiveness, inspire deep connections with our mountains and help Create lifelong snowsports enthusiasts; is a critical asset.

     

    Work Environment: 

    Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is in a high-altitude alpine environment. Employees must be prepared to ski, ride, and stand outside for their shift (4-5.5 hours) in changing and potentially extreme weather conditions. Must be able to ski or snowboard proficiently. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

     

    Physical Demands of Position Include:

    • Instructor/Employee has ability to teach skiing or snowboarding while safely navigating the Ski Area in a professional and exemplary manner.
    • Instructors must be able to ski, ride, walk, kneel, crawl, carry, reach, stand, stoop, squat and lift equipment or students up to 50lbs while actively teaching and coaching students for the duration of the lesson to complete all daily job duties.
    • Instructor/Employee must assist and lift students onto and off chairlifts.

  • Ski Patroller

    Manages all the medical and safety aspects for the guests and employees of Taos Ski Valley in a constantly changing mountain environment. This includes but is not limited to, hands-on patient care, transportation, avalanche mitigation, intensive customer service, and interdepartmental cooperation.     Essential Job Responsibilities: 

    • Respond quickly and professionally to all reported incidents and injuries on the mountain
    • Provide emergency first aid treatment, including patient assessment, stabilization, and transport as needed
    • Assist with mountain operations tasks such as lift evacuation, explosives handling, and avalanche mitigation
    • Perform technical rescue of guests in icy, steep, and often vertical alpine environments
    • Maintain detailed records of all incidents, patient care, and resort operations
    • Communicate effectively with guests to provide information and assistance as needed
    • Adhere to al all resort safety policies, procedures, and regulations
    • Assist with ski patrol training and mountain operations as requested
    • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays

    • Able to pass a background check to receive an explosive handler license from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
    • Experience as a Professional Ski Patroller at a class A avalanche preferred
    • Avalanche Pro Level 1 or 2 certification preferred
    • Experience with a professional emergency medical service preferred
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

  • Bootfitter - Winter

    Description:

    Boot Fitting is a skilled trade, previous custom boot fit experience is required to apply for this position.

    The Boot Fitter’s job duties include fitting new ski and snowboard boots, custom building athletic footbeds, re-fitting boots through manipulation of the hard shells/liners, sales of boots and related equipment and accessories. The Boot Fitting Team maintains an appointment book and a schedule that aligns with guest visitation levels. Boot Fitters are responsible for the cleanliness, organization and maintenance of all boot-fitting tools, equipment, and facilities.  Part of the Taos Sports Retail and Rental Team, Boot Fitters are required to participate in the day-to-day responsibilities of these guest facing workspaces. 

    Hourly compensation based on industry standards and commensurate with prior professional experience.  Affordable staff housing opportunities may be available.

  • Executive Chef - Bavarian Restaurant

    F&B-Culinary
    Taos Ski Valley

    Operational Excellence:

    • Assume overall responsibility for the performance and operations of The Bavarian kitchen, ensuring consistent delivery of exceptional culinary experiences.
    • Oversee and manage all aspects of kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining cleanliness and organization.
    • Ensure compliance with established food quality standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines to meet and exceed guest expectations.
    • Visit tables and guests in dining rooms on a daily basis to perform quality checks.
    • Create weekly schedules based on forecasted resort business maintaining a proper balance of labor vs revenue.
    • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.

    Administrative and Financial Management:

    • Take ownership of administrative tasks related to The Bavarian kitchen including scheduling, inventory control, and maintaining records and documentation.
    • Develop and manage budgets, controlling costs through efficient purchasing, inventory management and portion control.
    • Implement effective expense management strategies to optimize financial performance.
    • Oversee monthly inventory process as it related to creating monthly profit and loss statements to guide good business decisions.
    • Ensure the Chef de Cuisine orders are correct based on forecasted demand.
    • Ensures weekly food product inventory is completed in order to best maintain freshness, monitor throughput, reduce waste, spoilage and theft.

     

    Leadership and Training:

    • Lead, hire and inspire the culinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and professional growth.
    • Provide guidance, mentorship, R&D, and training to kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of culinary skill and knowledge.
    • Collaborate with the Resort Executive Chef to develop and implement culinary training programs and initiatives.

    Menu Development and Recipe Costing:

    • Create innovative, seasonally inspired German menus that reflect the culinary vision and target market of The Bavarian Restaurant.
    • Conduct recipe costing to ensure accurate pricing, profitability, and cost control using Meez.
    • Regularly review and update menus based on market trends, guest preferences, and ingredient availability.
    • Design menus with Resort Executive Chef using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and specific regional specialty ingredients to create and deliver well prepared, flavorful, and authentic dishes to support the German/Alpine concepts.
    • Develop relationships with local farmers and farmers markets to increase community involvement in menus.

     

    Food Safety and Physical Safety:

    • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
    • Implement and enforce proper food handling, storage, and labeling procedures.
    • Collaborate with the Bavarian Chef de Cuisine to ensure physical safety protocols are in place and followed in all Base Area outlets.
    • Maintain impeccable cleanliness standards that meet local health code at all times conducting monthly self-health department walks unannounced with assistant/culinary supervisor.
    • Completed safety training and follows all of the company safety and security policies and procedures.

     

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • A deep understanding of German cuisine, particularly the traditional dishes and specialties associated with the region.
    • Culinary or Restaurant Management Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
    • ServeSafe Manager Level Certified.
    • 5 years of previous Hotel, Resort, or Multi-Unit restaurant Executive Chef experience.
    • 5 years of high volume / high quality / multi-unit kitchen management experience.
    • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, menu development, and kitchen management.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.

    As the Executive Housekeeper, you will lead the staff and operations of the housekeeping department and seek solutions and results that create a high-performing, safety-conscious work environment.

    You will manage a team that’s passionate about delivering a unique and unpretentious experience to guests of The Blake, The Blake Residence’s, Penthouses, Private Property Residences as well as Taos Ski Valley staff housing. The position oversees teams for the cleaning of public areas around the base area of the ski resort, including the Resort Center, LakeFork, Staff locker rooms, and other base area public areas.  You contribute to the team’s professionalism and performance and consciously engage with your staff members, who efficiently accomplish a combination of cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly property for guests and staff. As the Executive Housekeeper, you will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
