    You will use previous knowledge acquired in the culinary arts toward improving kitchen skills including knife and prep skills and how to follow safety procedures. You will come to understand the ins and outs of the resort and learn the functions of a new kitchen, restaurant, and its system.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Clean and prepare food items for service.
    • Cover, label and date food items for storage.
    • Maintain a constantly safe, clean and sanitary work environment.
    • Prepare foods according to recipes and/or house standards.
    • Prepare line items in a timely manner.
    • Leave workstation surgically clean at the end of shift.

  • Cook II/Chef De Partie:

    First, learn pantry-side cooking during service hours and then advance to grill/hot-side line training, including reading orders, food presentation and executing menu items in a timely manner.  Once familiar with the correct processes for the kitchen, you will be able to propose some of the dishes and preparations to the week's menu and to show to all kitchen employees the most accurate method of execution, always focusing on teamwork and the chef's instructions.

    • Practice proper food storage principles.
    • Understand and exhibit proper Garde-Manger skills to enhance the appearance of food items.

  • Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher

    Sun Valley

    Sun Valley Resort Kitchen Steward/Dishwashers are primarily responsible for operating and maintain cleaning equipment and tools. Also responsible for washing dishes, flatware, cutlery, crockery, kitchen vessels, sweeping  and mopping floors, cleaning and detailing equipment's etc. Maintains the kitchen, dish washing and back area.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware and silverware.
    • Wash and sanitize pots, pans and preparation utensils.
    • Maintain safe work areas by attending to debris, boxes, equipment, etc.
    • Attend to all trash and recycle matters in kitchen areas.
    • Ensure clean floors at all times, practicing safe methods while sweeping and mopping.
    • Properly store cleaned kitchen equipment in an organized manner.
    • Attend to other duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods.
    • Must be able to move objects up to approximately 75 pounds about the workplace safely.

  • Mountain Lodge Busser

    Food & Beverage
    Sun Valley

     A Mountain Lodge Busser at Sun Valley Resort will work in one of our Mountain Food & Beverage venues.  They will clear clean, and reset  tables, help bring items to and take from table, perform friendly & attentive customer service at all times. May be cross trained as a cashier.

    Desired Time-frame: Mid November through mid April

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Ensure tables are clean and set – ready for guests.
    • Clear all dishes, glassware, paper-goods and table linens at proper times as guests complete their meals or depart their tables.
    • Place all items into busing cart, on busing trays or into tubs.
    • Empty busing cart, trays or tubs in the kitchen areas.
    • Make sure all glassware and silverware are clean and polished.
    • Stock various clean dishes, glassware and condiments at server’s station.
    • Ensure that there is sufficient freshly brewed coffee.
    • Empty kitchen garbage receptacles and take bags to dumpster.
    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Mountain Lodge Cashier

    Food & Beverage
    Sun Valley

    Sun Valley Mountain Lodge F&B Cashiers greet customers and guests as they enter the food courts and process payments for products. They are also responsible for keeping his/her work area clean and safe workspace.

    Time Frame: Mid-November through Mid-April

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a professional appearance including mannerisms.
    • Ensure cleanliness of all guest areas as well as employee areas.
    • Clean and organize associated work area.
    • Ensure all supplies are stocked, notifying the Manager of any supplies that are running low.
    • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times
    • Ensure that totals are in balance.
    • Count Funds in cash register at the beginning and end of shift.
    • Account for and correct any discrepancies.
    • Seek council from management as needed.
    • Process guests payments for goods.
    • Place cash, checks and credit card receipts into cash register and make change when appropriate.
    • Ensure that all payments and/or charges are credited and/or debited to proper rooms or other accounts; i.e. Mountain Supervisor Meals, Employee Meals, Room Charges, etc….
    • Follow health and safety procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned, ensuring our excellent service and commitment to 100% guest satisfaction.

  • Lift Operator

    Mountain Operations

    The Sun Valley LIFT OPERATOR is responsible for the safe loading and unloading of guests of all ages and abilities that are using our chairlifts.  As a member of the lift department team, the lift operator will provide exceptional service for our guests during their visit.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Follow company/department safety policies and procedures.
    • Able to work independently or in a small group to accomplish daily job related tasks.
    • Complete pre-operational procedures and inspections.
    • Assist in snow removal, daily set up and routine maintenance of work areas.
    • Anticipate guest’s needs and provide service above and beyond guest expectations.
    • Remain alert for guests improperly loading and unloading the ski lifts.
    • Assist with completing lift closing procedures.
    • Work with all mountain departments respectfully in assisting and resolving issues that could arise during the operations.

    Qualifications: 

    • 18 years or older, high school diploma or equivalent
    • Able to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, Able to work outside in all weather conditions
    • Skiing/Snowboarding a plus but not required
    • Completion of Sun Valley lift department / lift operator training
    • Have the ability to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings (6:00 a.m.)
    • Able to work through the entire winter season

    Instructor positions available at all levels of teaching and guided experience, full and part time.  Children’s Specialists, Big Mountain Guides and Performance Instructors positions available for the 2020/2021 winter season.

  • Playschool Counselor

    Mountain Operations
    Sun Valley

    Playschool Counselor provides care to children ages 18 months to 5 years creating a safe and entertaining experience. Successful candidates will know a wide variety of indoor and outdoor games and sporting activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead the children in activities as scheduled by the program manager.
    • Maintain awareness of the number and location of children assigned to the group.
    • Instruct the children in how to perform the various activities maintaining safety as the number one priority at all times.
    • Immediately report any problems to the supervisor.
    • Assist the program manager to register the children each morning as needed. 
    • Receive and account for guests fees.
    • Participate in outdoor activities (i.e. winter:snowshoeing, sledding, ice skating, bowling, etc. summer:golf, tennis, paddle boating, ice skating, nature walks, etc.).
    • Plan games and art activities.
    • Diaper, feed and general care of the children.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Key Competencies:

    • Possess a positive and cheerful attitude
    • Able to multi-task and build rapport with children

    A Sun Valley Resort Housekeeper  is responsible for keeping rooms and public spaces clean and sanitary for guests. A housekeeper ensures that guests have a clean and home-away-from-home experience while a guest at the hotel.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Provide daily maid service for hotel rooms and condominiums - this includes general cleaning
      • changing linens
      • emptying garbage
      • replacing supplies, etc.
      • turning down beds
      • vacuuming
      • dusting
      • bathroom cleaning
    • Stocking and Maintaining maids closets
    • Collection and sorting of linens
    • Cleaning common areas
    • Special projects from Supervisors

    Qualifications:

    • Moderate lifting

    Laundry Attendants at Sun Valley Resort work in our state of the art laundry facility. They clean and organize all hotel linens and resort uniforms. This is an exciting and fast paced position as we are also open to the public. 

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Remove linens and towels from the machines
    • Fold, iron, and organize linens as needed
    • Maintain a safe work environment
    • Other tasks to be assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Be able to speak some English.
    • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Possess an ability to lift 50 pounds with regularity.

  • Public Area Cleaning Crew

    At Sun Valley, our Public Area Cleaning Crew is one of our most dynamic teams. They make sure our world class facilities keep their luster from our iconic Lodge in the village to the mountain lodges and everywhere in between. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Clean assigned public areas
    • Empty trash in all public areas and clean public area restrooms
    • Clean all mirrors, inside of windows, wipe and dust all surfaces; keeping all brass shiny
    • Vacuum carpets
    • Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards
    • Report necessary maintenance items
    • Follow all safety and sanitation policies
    • Other duties as assigned

     Qualifications:

    • Previous housekeeping experience an asset
    • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
    • Highly responsible & reliable
    • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision

    Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): 

    • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
    • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
    • Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
