  • Accounting Manager

    The Accounting Manager will assist with the fiscal responsibilities through accurate accounting and financial compliance. We provide oversight, assistance, and training to support and partner with the various operational departments.  

    Duties and Responsibilities:   

    • Support Controller with the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing work papers and reconciliations to distribute financial information promptly and accurately. 
    • Responsible for the reconciliation and monthly close of resort trial balance accounts and preparation of monthly variance reports. 
    • Responsible for all cash handling procedures, internal controls, and daily sales audits supervising the resort cash office department and revenue auditors. 
    • Oversees reconciling and posting of daily revenue accounting processes. Includes oversite of POS systems integration portal to the general ledger. 
    • Coordinate quarterly and year-end financial audits and annual corporate financial controls audits. Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.  
    • Reconcile and prepare monthly sales tax returns. Investigate and resolve discrepancies. 
    • Assess current best practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements. Formulate documentation of systems and procedures by developing and enhancing SOP’s. 
    • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements. 
    • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested by management or in support of operational departments. 
    • Exhibit Leadership skills with the accounting group and others while maintaining respect, fairness, and consistency. 
    • Work well independently and as a team with Accounting Office staff and all Resort departments. Exhibit a thorough knowledge of all Resort departments and be committed to organizational goals, values, and standards.  

     Qualifications:    

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business with an emphasis in accounting.  
    • CPA or MBA preferred. 
    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, a portion of it being in a supervisory role. 
    • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP 
    • Excellent computer skills in M.S. Office. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with various financial systems. 
    • Experience with dEPM/Sun Systems ERP, RTP, OperaCloud, Infogenesis and Kronos is a plus. 
    • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation is a plus. 
    • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to systems and system changes.

  • Assistant Restaurant Manager

    Assistant Restaurant Managers at Sun Valley Resort oversee and coordinate all aspects of the dining room according to Sun Valley Company standards to ensure a pleasurable dining experience for our guests. Locations include the Sun Valley Lodge, Village Station, and Bald Mountain's iconic Roundhouse Restaurant.

    Assistant Restaurant Manager Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Train and manage staff. 
    • Schedule staff according to reservations and hotel occupancy.
    • Track daily labor using Kronos.
    • Train staff with the proper technique of Sun Valley Resort Service Standards.
    • Possess an extensive knowledge of wines and how to best serve them, including knowledge of appropriate pairings.
    • Be able to assist with all services in the restaurant and ensure the guests' needs are taken care of professionally and graciously. 
    • Clearly and professionally communicate and cooperate with the dining room staff and the chef on duty, including sharing menu and reservation updates and ordering linens and additional supplies.

    Assistant Restaurant Manager Qualifications:

    • Must have comprehensive knowledge of and experience with restaurant and wine service. 
    • Minimum of 3 years of managerial/supervisory experience.

    • Knowledge of/experience with daily financial aspects of restaurant management. 
    • They must have excellent customer service and supervisory skills.
    • A degree in a related field is preferred.

    The Banquet Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner. Must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Set up and maintain clean and organized cooking areas.
    • Work closely with others, preparing and ensuring that food comes out at the highest quality in a timely manner.

    The Sun Valley Resort bartenders oversee bar operations and prepare and present alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to guests. 

     Duties and Responsibilities:   

    • Open and close the bar, collect, and count the bank from Cashier’s Office, prepare the bar for operation, and stock enough various beverages to meet the needs of the shift. 
    • Fill ice containers if no ice machine is present, and maintain a clean, neat, safe bar and lounge area.

    The Bellperson is the guests’ first impression of the Sun Valley Lodge. We are looking for an energetic, outgoing personality who will make that connection with our guests.    

    Duties and Responsibilities:   

    • Upon arrival, greet and assist guests by helping unload luggage from a vehicle and transporting it to their room, personally carrying the bags, or using a luggage cart. 
    • Upon departure, assist guests by transporting luggage from the room to the lobby and helping them load bags into the vehicle. 
    • Respond to guest needs by promptly delivering laundry, newspapers, iron & ironing board, additional linens, etc. Maintain written log, recording these requests and deliveries.

    • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to grasp the requirements fully.

    The Director of Ski Patrol manages and directs the activities of the Ski Patrol Department and Employees. They establish and implement service and safety standards per company policies and procedures. Lead a team of Patrol Supervisors, Leads, and Dispatchers in maintaining, developing, and implementing all program aspects.

    Ski Patrol Director Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Overall direction, coordination, mentoring, and evaluation of department personnel, including supervisors, leads, dispatch, and line patrollers.
    • Holds team accountable for all procedures in accordance with Resort policies and procedures for guest and employee safety and compliance with governmental regulations.
    • Develops and implements procedures in alignment with Resort Guests Service programs.
    • Efficiently communicates pertinent information to Ski Patrol teams, the Mountain Operations Team, Mountain Managers, and Senior Leadership.
    • Is an active leader as part of the Mountain Operations Team and works closely with peers from that team for the overall success of Sun Valley Resort.
    • Represent Ski Patrol at company meetings and liaise, ensuring communication and information are consistent and timely between all departments and patrol.
    • Actively participates as a patrol representative on internal company committees and teams.
    • Assigns and supports team members to internal committees such as Snowmobile, Vehicle Incident, DEI, Safety, Service, and others.
    • Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Coordinates and assigns direction to employees in performing duties and provides training or coaching as required.
    • Determines work priorities, prepares work and maintenance schedules, and expedites workflow.
    • Monitors skiing conditions and drives safety and service excellence while coordinating and collaborating with the mountain management team.
    • Assigns duties and examines work for safety, exactness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
    • Assists with the daily management of assignments related to avalanche control, incident investigations, and coordination of tasks maintaining department and resort operational standards.
    • Coordinate activities and special events with other departments to provide reliable daily mountain operations while meeting service standards during weather and non-weather events.
    • Proactively maintains respect and communication among workers and resolves grievances.
    • Holds employees and department accountable to company policy and Employee Handbook.
    • Administers and delegates duties including but not limited to schedules, purchasing, payroll, safety-related items, inventory, tool checks, etc.
    • Acts as liaison and coordinates and communicates with agencies including ATF, local sheriff, fire, highway patrol, search and rescue during a crisis on the mountain, base area, and contract areas.
    • Creates and maintains department budgeting for labor, supplies, and capital planning.
    • Oversee trail and signage maintenance in the summer.
    • Work as part of a minor operations team in summer with involvement in bike parks, environmental restoration and revegetation, trail clearing and maintenance, summer patrol, and other projects as needed.
    • Work with vendors and suppliers to maintain equipment and supplies promptly and proactively to stay ahead of the supply chain and seasonal ordering windows.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Ski Patrol Director Qualifications:

    • Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization. Able to effectively present information to management, employees, and customers.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize needs proactively, put first things first, and effectively manages resources and time—excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
    • Able to make decisions in accordance with company and resort guidelines and policy. Able to make a decision and seek the input of others in making decisions in high-stress-high-risk situations.
    • Working knowledge of computers, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and various enterprise-wide business solutions
    • Must have advanced ski/snowboard skills.
    • Effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations.
    • Able to stay calm under pressure.
    • Ski Patrol experience within multiple disciplines
    • Experience managing or leading teams and effective delegation skills
    • Experience maintaining administrative records, especially with Safety expectations
    • Current E.M.T. Certification or O.E.C.
    • Current C.P.R. Certifications
    • Extensive winter mountain experience
    • Able to attain designation as “Responsible Person” from A.T.F.

  • Dollar Mountain Ski Patrol Supervisor

    The main functions of the Dollar Mountain Ski Patrol Supervisor are to hire, train, guide, and evaluate Ski Patrollers in administering first aid, provide evacuation of injured guests in an alpine ski setting, and perform ski hill maintenance by performing the following duties.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Act as a liaison between Ski Patrol management and Ski Patrollers.
    • Prepare the daily work list for the ski patrol team.
    • Conduct and coordinate Ski Patrol meetings regularly to discuss team performance, goals, and objectives.
    • Ensure Ski Patrol staff are well trained and orientated for their position and department; provide guidance, support, and direction to staff.
    • Mentor new patrollers to ensure a successful transition from new hire to competent patroller.
    • Patrol the ski mountain to detect injured guests, observe rule violations, and identify potential problem areas before the development of the problem. Provide prompt first aid to injured guests and assist injured guests or others while waiting for ambulance transport.
    • Set up and maintain boundary fencing to prevent guests from skiing into dangerous or unstable areas. Open and close ski runs as appropriate, depending upon the snow, weather, safety, and other conditions.
    • Operate a snowmobile to facilitate the opening of the mountain ski areas and for the transportation of personnel, guests, and/or equipment.
    • Avalanche control with Class “A” explosives and/or Avalauncher. Monitor potential avalanche sites, process relevant data, and take appropriate steps to mitigate hazards or close the area.
    • Operate and maintain toboggan/ski equipment to facilitate movement of self and/or injured guests to and from mountain locations (this includes but is not limited to using belays).
    • Participate in helicopter medical evacuation, Search and Rescue operations, and a wide variety of Mountain maintenance procedures as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned or as appropriate to safeguard resort guests.

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent communication skills within the patrol, patrol supervisors, and upper management.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software.
    • Ability to handle and operate under stressful situations.
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work unsupervised.
    • Current Outdoor Emergency Care certification or EMT-1 Certification and a Current CPR Certificate.
    • Proficient in the use of Class "A" Explosives for the purpose of avalanche control.
    • Trainer or lead in annual OEC refreshers and CE cells.

  • Entertainment Technician

    An Entertainment Technician will be the technician for events produced in-house and monitor the après ski music and entertainment scene, which runs through winter.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide support for visiting Arts groups and touring performers to present their events.
    • Work closely with visiting riggers and other technicians
    • Act as a technician for events produced in-house and facilitate visiting engineers as necessary
    • Setup, operation and breakdown of lighting and sound systems, staging, etc.
    • Tech work both indoors and outdoors, on the ground or at height in a variety of weather situations
    • Maintain and repair equipment and venue technical systems as needed
    • Provide technical support for Resort events
    • Light carpentry
    • Longer hours during peak seasons, shorter hours during calmer periods 
    • Other duties as needed, including general cleaning of the venue if necessary. 

    Qualifications:

    • Able to independently run a small event, such as a local four-piece rock band.
    • Apply standard rigging and safety practices
    • Comfortable working at heights
    • Familiar with the use and maintenance of chain hoists
    • Good computer skills

    The Lift Mechanic Supervisor will manage the lift mechanic team's daily, monthly, and annual operations. The Supervisor will report to the Lift Maintenance Manager and partner with the Lift Electrical Manager to ensure all lifts meet all regulations and requirements.  

     Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

    • Manages, recruits, trains, and supervises Lift Maintenance Mechanics and performs yearly employee reviews. 
    • Develop, design, budget, and assign maintenance plans to meet compliance. Develop, design, budget, and set annual maintenance program to meet all compliance requirements following manufacturer guidelines, USFS FSM, and ANSI B77. 
    • Assign Work Orders for the Mechanics and maintain and document up-to-date Work Reports for the department.  
    • Monitor and control inventory and approve the purchase of replacement parts to facilitate repairs and inventory and approve invoices for payment. 
    • Utilize purchasing programs and orders to secure the best prices, including volume purchase discounts. 
    • Perform inventory checks, control measures, and develop annual labor and department budgets. 
    • Monitor and enforce orderliness, cleanliness, and organization of all maintenance, and perform preventative maintenance on all facets of the ski lift system. 
    • Troubleshoot lift issues as they arrive during the operating seasons. 
    • Perform multiple tasks at advanced heights and pre-operational and operational checks during operating seasons. 
    • Monitor moving equipment, utilize all senses to predict potential failure, work closely with all mountain operations departments and always maintain a safety culture.

    The Technical Director is a supervisory position that oversees the execution of various entertainment events at the Sun Valley Resort in collaboration with the Entertainment Manager and Venue Manager. The Technical Director’s responsibilities are resort-wide, making them the go-to contact for equipment-related information and solutions. The Technical Director must focus on solving complex and sometimes urgent problems.   

    Duties & Responsibilities:   

    • Liaise with producers, production/technical managers, artists, artist representatives, and rental clients. Disseminate, as needed, venue information, equipment inventory, scheduling imperatives, work procedures and rules. 
    • Review technical riders and provide necessary consultation to clarify production requirements and determine appropriate equipment, support personnel, and timetables necessary to stage proposed events in a cost-effective, safe, and timely manner.  
    • Oversee and implement all production requirements such as stage-setting, audience seating configurations, changeovers, backline, lighting, sound and video, wardrobe, piano tuning, and the operation of all technical systems, including video projectors, computerized lighting systems, sound systems, mechanical rigging, and truss assemblies. Gather and transport, when necessary, event equipment and supplies. 
    • Proactively conceptualize, develop, negotiate, and assist with budgeting the production needs and solutions for new evolving works by local, national, and international artists, and serve as liaison with established companies, rental events, local productions, and performance initiatives.  
    • Coordinate site visits and pre-event meetings with visiting artists, rental clients, and their designers & production personnel.  
    • Assist with departmental budgeting. Duties include preparing general event scheduling and cost estimates (crew, front-of-house, custodial, equipment & vendor costs).  
    • Uphold Sun Valley quality standards and manage technical crew, including crew leads, carpenters, electricians, and video & sound tech. Monitor the workflow of events using sound judgment and problem-solving when necessary. Stay current with all communications to everyone, including clients, talent and their managers, vendors, and staff, and respond to inquiries as quickly as possible.  
    • Maintain an appropriate roster of qualified and available crew members to serve the anticipated needs of upcoming events.  
    • Review and approve all rigging plots and points and ensure that points are installed in accordance with industry, venue, load rating and safety means, methods, and standards. Inform and direct crew, clients, and subcontractors on rigging points, equipment, and methods for any suspended elements.  
    • Work collaboratively with the Venue Manager to Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with venue safety policies and procedures for all production-related work. 
    • Maintain technical inventory and oversee the ordering of specialized supplies.  
    • Monitor the condition of equipment, including lighting, sound, elevated work platforms and rigging equipment; arrange for repair and replacement when required within budgetary constraints and considering the presentation calendar; perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Schedule maintenance to clean and maintain equipment.  
    • Engage specialists to re-certify the necessary equipment (e.g., scissor lifts, chain motors, etc.) in a timely and manufacturer-recommended manner.  
    • Schedule and manage hours and payroll for technical staff and back-of-house crew.   

    Qualifications:    

    • Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field. 
    • 3-5 years experience in a related field. 
    • A high school diploma may be acceptable. 
    • Practical industry experience is recommended. 
    • A high technical aptitude. 
    • Superb interpersonal and leadership skills. 
    • A growth mindset, attention to detail, and an excellent work ethic.
