Snow Mountain

Currently recruiting for the season from May 16th, 2026 to October 14th, 2026.

Bubbling mud pots, crystal clear mountain lakes, and scenic beauty beyond the imagination invite both visitors and staff members to experience the unexpected. Snow Mountain LLC, in Lassen Volcanic National Park, offers lodging, campgrounds, food service, retail gift stores, guided horseback rides, kayak and canoe rentals, and other visitor services from mid-May until mid-October.

The 100,000 acre Lassen Volcanic National Park is located approximately 130 miles north of Sacramento at the southern end of the Cascade Mountain Range. It is a majestic place where you can discover the wonder and mysteries surrounding the four different types of volcanoes that exist in the world.

Room and Board

Snow Mountain LLC offers employee housing in three different locations, two inside Lassen Volcanic National Park, and one outside of the park in Chester, California.  The two in-park locations are at Drakesbad Guest Ranch and Manzanita Lake.  Housing is available in Chester, CA for those working at the Visitor Center and Drakesbad locations. Housing for folks working Manzanita Lake will live in cabins tucked between Shingletown, CA and Old Station, CA.

All housing is dorm-style with shared rooms, shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen.  Housing costs are $75/week. 

An employee lounge with a community kitchen is available to all associates living in Chester, CA.

The Reno - Tahoe International Airport in Reno, Nevada is located 95 miles from Chester, CA. Sage Stage Transportation offers a bus from Reno, NV to Susanville, CA for $33. From Susanville, CA to Chester, a bus is available or the team will coordinate pick up in large groups. 

Employees may bring a personal car since there is plenty of parking at the dorms in Chester, CA and our Manzanita Lake location. 

Public transportation is limited if living in Chester, however; the company does have shuttles that will provide transportation to and from shopping and sight-seeing excursions.

As one of the country's oldest national parks, Lassen offers gorgeous hiking trails, picturesque lakes that afford fishing and kayaking, and cabins and campgrounds for the those that want to experience the rustic feel of the beautiful outdoors!

    Summary of Position:
    Responsible for providing an extraordinary guest experience by offering friendly and courteous service as well as a safe boating experience. Work with management to ensure all boat attendants are properly trained and provide excellent customer service.
     

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare the Boathouse for the day; string boats to dock, place life jackets in appropriate place outside, place cleaning supplies outside, bring trash receptacles to designated areas

    • Assist guests in the rental of boats; safely help load and unload guests from boats

    • Ensure that boats are clean, batteries charged (as needed), boats are properly stowed and cleaned in the boathouse at the end of day

    • Ensure cleanliness of dock area (hosing down dock) at the beginning of the day and is clean of trash at the end of the day

    • Perform weekly upkeep/draining/cleaning of boats inside and outside boatshed; follow weekly cleaning schedule

    • Assist in dining and common areas; sweep, setup/breakdown chairs, open/close shutters, wipe down and sanitize all surfaces, empty trash, clean bathrooms, and consolidate trash into black containers

    Summary of Position:

    Responsible and accountable for leading the Back of the House (BOH) team in executing the restaurant menu, as documented by the Company, to the highest quality standards. Also responsible for completing BOH performance, quality, health, and safety documentation per Company expectations.  Will work closely with the Location Manager to ensure the entire BOH is working as a cohesive team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensures that the menu, as set forth by Corporate, is being executed as documented and to the highest quality standards.

    • Ensures that all culinary staff adheres to defined company recipes and plate presentation in order to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

    • Ensures BOH team is working as a cohesive unit to provide the highest level of quality and service as defined in the Employee Handbook.

    • Responsible for training and leading the BOH team in their respective technical responsibilities.  Ensures that all BOH staff is trained in proper cooking techniques and sanitation guidelines as appropriate for their respective areas.

    • Covers Cooks days off by spending dedicated time and effort on the cooking line ensuring operations continue to meet expectations.
