A rare experience indeed!

Bubbling mud pots, crystal clear mountain lakes, and scenic beauty beyond the imagination invite both visitors and staff members to experience the unexpected. Snow Mountain LLC, in Lassen Volcanic National Park, offers lodging, campgrounds, food service, retail gift stores, guided horseback rides, paddle craft rentals, and other visitor services from mid-May until mid-October.

The 100,000 acre Lassen Volcanic National Park is located approximately 130 miles north of Sacramento at the southern end of the Cascade Mountain Range. It is a majestic place where you can discover the wonder and mysteries surrounding the four different types of volcanoes that exist in the world.

Climbing a snow-capped mountain?  Horseback riding in a meadow brimming with wildflowers?  Canoeing on a scenic lake in water so crystal clear that you can practically see the bottom?  Lassen Volcanic National Park offers these adventures and so many more.  

As a member of the Snow Mountain team, you will definitely increase your career marketability as you learn how to interact with visitors from around the world.  You will become proficient in sales and marketing, customer service, culinary, lodging and engaging guests in activities they may never have experienced such as horseback riding, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

The Employee Experience

We like to call it the employee adventure.  You can expect to become part of a team of dedicated employees who continually strive to provide an extraordinary experience to all visitors of the Park. When you play a part in creating great memories for others, you create them for yourself too.  That's part of the adventure!

Snow Mountain believes in providing an environment where team members enjoy going to work as much as they value their downtime. We won't intrude on your days off but we will provide fun and engaging activities so you can get to know the area where you'll be living and working.  

The small town of Chester, California offers great restaurants, shopping and a lake that boasts some really fun activities.  The larger town of Redding isn't too far away and frequent trips will be offered for extended shopping and those get-away moments that everyone enjoys.

The greatest adventure you'll have is up to you.  Snow Mountain will simply provide the environment for you to create it.

Room and Board

Snow Mountain LLC offers employee housing in three different locations, two inside Lassen Volcanic National Park, and one outside of the park in Chester, California.  The two in-park locations are at Drakesbad Guest Ranch and Manzanita Lake. Note that Drakesbad Guest Ranch is closed for the 2022 season and is expected to reopen in 2023.  Housing is available in Chester, CA and Mineral, CA for those working at Manzanita Lake.

All housing is dorm-style with shared rooms, shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen.  Housing costs are $75/week and meals will be discounted or free depending upon where you live.

Employee rooms have been upgraded with new furnishings and an employee lounge with a community kitchen is available to all associates living in Chester, CA.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Getting around on your adventures...

The Reno - Tahoe International Airport in Reno, Nevada is located 95 miles from Chester, CA and the Company will coordinate transportation for employees arriving in groups and/or on a schedule.  

Employees may bring a personal car since there is plenty of parking at the dorms in Chester, CA, but parking is limited if living inside the Park.

Public transportation is limited if living in Chester, however; the company does have shuttles that will provide transportation to and from shopping and sight-seeing excursions.  Free transportation is always provided to work.

For Fun

As a Snow Mountain team member, you will enjoy opportunities to:

  • Experience kayaking adventures on Lake Almanor
  • Attend local art fairs and concerts
  • Go horseback riding in the National Park
  • Go to a rodeo
  • Go biking and hiking around the area
  • Participate in weekly shuttle excursions to nearby towns to go shopping
  • Hike in some of the most beautiful scenery in the high Sierras
