We invite you to join us for the summer at our charming Alaska log lodge located along the scenic Glenn Highway between Palmer and Glennallen, Alaska. We are a family owned and operated tourist resort business; featuring upscale, comfortable, private guest cabins and a full-service restaurant.

The Employee Experience
At Sheep Mountain Lodge, we work hard and play hard. Get up early before your shift for a morning hike leaving directly from the staff house. Take a hike on the Matanuska Glacier after your shift with other local employees. With 20 hours of daylight in the summer, an 8-hour shift leaves you with plenty of time to explore Alaska.
Employees who work out best here are hard-working, flexible, always find something to do without being directed, are responsible in their working hours and non-working hours, love the outdoors and can self-direct their own extra-curricular activities. Our ideal candidate will be open to learning on the job and after work hours about a new State and other cultures. Our ideal candidate will be a contributing "house-mate" in our shared co-ed living quarters by cleaning up after themselves and observing quiet hours.
Room and Board
Room and board packages are available to full-time lodge staff for $250 per month. The room and board rate includes all meals 7-days per week, staff enjoy packing dry food and fresh fruit from our pantry for their weekend adventures.
Lodge staff can prepare their own meals or eat staff meals occasionally prepared by the Lodge chef. Employee housing is two to a room in our Hillside House which has a common area, shower, microwave, refrigerator, washer/dryer, TV w/DVD and local telephone line. High-speed internet is included with the room and board.
Staff receive a 50% discount when dining in the restaurant.
We pay a competitive hourly wage or monthly salary depending on position and experience; our staff work a maximum of 45 hours per week, and minimum 35 hours/week, 2 consecutive days off per week. Gratuities are shared among all staff.
We provide a car for staff to use one their two days off per week. This car is provided for those employees over 21 with a safe driving record.
We are Alaskan owned and operated. Dollars earned in this business help support other Alaskan businesses and non-profit organizations. We offer on the job training for all positions. This is a summer work experience you can use to build your experience regardless of your field of interest.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Upon arrival in Anchorage, employees can catch a ride with the lodge owners (if they are in town) or take a bus from downtown Anchorage (Interior Alaska Bus-Lines) for $40, a 2.5-hour drive that is scheduled for Sunday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
The lodge is located 60 miles from the closest large community. This can be challenging for some but a welcome and memorable remote experience for most. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, this is the place to be.

Lodge has 10 miles of world-class hiking trails on property.

During non-working hours, our staff enjoy hiking the local trails, camping, campfires, music, ice climbing, ATV tours, zip lines, white water rafting, and much more!
As a summer staff member, we invite you to work hard with us for the summer while enjoying the team-oriented atmosphere, natural setting, and local recreational opportunities. At Sheep Mountain your co-workers are also your housemates and friends. Staff members must have the ability to entertain themselves with the nearby natural attractions (hiking, biking, rafting) or other self-directed activities (reading, writing, playing music, etc).
Employment for our summer seasonal jobs runs from mid-May through mid-September. Applicants who are available for a full season of summer employment are given first preference (May 11 to Sept. 17). Those with commitments at a college or university in either late May or in September should still apply.

- Prep of food items, including homemade soups
- Maintaining kitchen sanitation, tracking food inventories
- Working with Chef and Prep Cook on food preparation schedules and kitchen organization
