Every year we hire nearly 200 seasonal employees to meet our summer seasonal needs. Some departments gear up in late March, while most job openings begin in early May and go through September, some extending into October. At a minimum, seasonal candidates are expected to be available through Sunday, September 27, 2020.

Positions in all of our departments will be available which include: Restaurants, Events, Hotel, Housekeeping, Retail, Spa, Marina, Guest Services, Grounds, Accounting and the Roche Harbor Market.

  • Barista

    Description: Beech Tree Espresso is a high volume fast paced espresso and ice-cream shop, which features Starbucks Coffee®, fresh baked pastries, and some locally made ice cream. The early morning coffee guests, love the beans and smiling faces of the crew, and love the smile that their family gets later in the day from an ice-cream treat. Beech Tree Espresso offers a refreshing snack for all members of the family with a friendly, engaging, and fast paced service.

    Requirements include:

    • Efficient at taking orders, running food, restocking stations, and clearing tables 
    • Friendly and positive personality that makes guests feel welcome and relaxed 
    • Work well in a team environment
    • Able to learn quickly and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to work days and night, weekdays and weekends, and holidays
    • Passion for coffee

    Experience Required/Qualifications: 1-2 years espresso barista experience
    Wage: Min wage plus tips (averages $22-$25 per hour)

    Barista Supervisor Responsibilities:

    • Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
    • Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to customers.
    • Packaging food and beverages for sale.
    • Selling coffee and tea blends.
    • Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
    • Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
    • Updating signage and displays to attract customers.
    • Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
    • Working in as part of a fun, high-energy team.
    • Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
    • Train new employees and adhere to Roche Harbor Resort standards.
    • Create a fun and friendly work environment.

    Barista Supervisor Requirements:

    • Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service (2+ years).
    • Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.
    • Exceptional listening and communication skills.
    • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
    • Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
    • A polite, engaging personality.
    • Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
    • Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment.

    Wage: $16.00 per hour.  Bonus $2.00 per hour worked.  Bonus is based off of meeting budgeted sales and hours, reviews, staying for the entire season, efficiency on accounting drops and attendance (95% or better).

    Collections Supervisor:

    Duties :being responsible for the day to day operations of registering our marina guests.  To oversee the collection staff (answer questions, train, work directly with marina manager).  Responsible for our long term account boats (Corresponding with guest billing and settling accounts)  

    • all day walking the dock and going boat to boat  registering guest
    • mornings -working with marina manager to organize day (boats coming and going)
    • mornings - make sure all late arrivals from previous night are registered.
    • afternoons- boat to boat registration and help marina manager with check out
    • evenings - nightly close out and reconciliation of moorage
    • evenings - organize for next days morning collector
    • Have fun and help make the marina an enjoyable work place!

    Schedule & Pay

    • May 3, 2021 - September 27, 2021 must be able to work Mon. thru Sun. and holidays.  The marina is open from 8:00am to sunset. @40hrs per week.  Schedule varies week to week, days off and hours per day fluctuates from 4 to 6 days a week and 6 to 10 hours per day.
    • Wage- $15.00 per hour
    • Bonus -  up to $2000 end of season bonus

    Collections Staff is responsible for the day to day operations of registering our marina guests.  Walking from boat to boat registering our guests upon their arrival. Opening and closing procedures() and reconciling money at the end of the day.

  • Dock Staff

    Dock Staff -Welcome all resort guests and dock them upon arrival.  Duties include tying up boats, helping them with power, and telling them about marina and resort amenities.  Dock staff also help facilitate guest needs and are responsible for keeping dock tidy(garbage & recycling) 

    Dock staff must be:

    •  outgoing, energetic, and like to have fun 
    • able to hustle while being on ones feet all day
    • guest oriented (engaging and friendly)
    •  able to work as a "team" with their managers and peers. 
    • mature and respectful

    Experience: None needed and is all trainable.  Simple boating knowledge helps.

    Wage:  $13.69 + gratuities (gratuities vary upon individual and their ability to satisfy guests needs)

    Description:

    The Madrona Bar & Grill is the summer dining hot spot of Roche Harbor Resort. With outdoor deck seating for up to 220 people and our Pacific Northwest bistro menu we can serve over 1500 guests a day.  The Madrona Bar and Grill offers a vast array of beverages to our thirsty guests including over 15 signature cocktails, 10 draft beer selections and full compliment of White, Red and Sparkling wines by the glass.  As such we are looking for up to 5 experienced Bartenders who wish to become part for our season team.  You will be working a rotating weekly schedule allowing all bartenders to work both lunch and dinner shifts during the course of the summer season.  The Season is from May till end of September.  Depending on the month and business there may be a single bartender working or 2 bartenders each shift.

    Responsibilities:

    Bartenders responsibilities include:

    • Making all alcoholic beverages for the entire restaurant
    • providing exceptional & professional service to our guests in a high volume, fast work environment
    • You need to be quick on your feet (literally and metaphorically)
    • Have a polite, happy, friendly and teamwork-oriented attitude
    • Enjoy talking to people and thrive in a fast-paced workplace
    • Setup the bar with special attention to sanitation and expedient drink production
    • Provide exceptional and attentive customer service

    Required Skills and Attributes

    • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs, stand on feet for a prolonged period, and easily bend at the waist
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Willing to work both days shifts, (9am to 5pm) and closing shifts (5pm till 3am) Could be 5pm-12am depending on Covid rules.
    • A great memory for names and faces
    • Possess an EXELLENT knowledge of mixed drink ingredients, preparation techniques, drink garnishes, wine, beer, liquor and craft mixology skills
    • Hands-on experience in cashier duties
    • Attention to cleanliness and safety
    • Patience and customer-oriented approach
    • Exceptional people skills with a friendly attitude
    • Responsible and trustworthy

    Experience:

    • A minimum of 3 to 5 (Preferred) years bartending experience and ability to take table orders as the bar has 5 tables in it as well as 7 bar stools.

    Additional Compensation:

    • Tips sharing.  Bartenders will receive both tips directly from customers and a weighted share of a 5% of sales mandatory tip pool from the servers.

    Wage: $13.69 per hour plus tips.  Average is $40-$50 per hour.

    The Madrona Bar & Grill is the summer dining hot spot of Roche Harbor Resort. With seating on our large outdoor over the water deck and our Pacific Northwest bistro menu, lunch and dinner are served to over 1000 guests daily in the middle of summer.

    As a server at the Madrona Bar & Grill you must be at the "Top of Your Game".  You must be used to operating in a high volume and high guest expectation environment.  You must have the ability to handle a 5 to 8 table section and understand the difference between being a Seller versus being an order taker and if you do so you will have the ability to do over $2000 in sales per meal period in the middle of summer.

    Requirements include:

    • Must be able to lift and carry a tray up to 30lbs above your shoulder;
    • You must be able to work on your feet for a prolonged period doing up to and over 18000 steps in a shift and easily bend at the waist;
    • Be of excellent demeanor and temperament and be able to operate in a fast paced environment with up to 19 fellow Front Of The House teammates;
    • Ability to multi task efficiency with urgency and confidence;
    • Have a high degree of attention to detail and have the ability to make guests feel welcome, important, and relaxed;
    • Have EXCELLENT knowledge of food and beverage ingredients, preparation and cooking techniques;
    • Be able to read & operate a small handheld Point Of Sale about the size of a large cell phone; &
    • Be able to read, write and speak conversational English.

    Experience Required/Qualifications:

    • A minimum of 5 years but no less than 3 years serving in a fast paced bistro restaurant;
    • Be over 18 years old;
    • Have recent ALOHA Point of Sale experience; &
    • Hold a Washington State Food Handlers and MAST permit before start date

    Wage: Washington State Min. wage ($13.69/hour) plus tips.  The average per hour is $40-$50.  There is a mandatory 5% of sales Tip Pool which is distributed equally to all the FOH support staff.

    Requirements include:

    • Must be able to lift and carry a tray up to 30lbs above your shoulder and serve from a tray jack;
    • Be able to stand on your feet for a prolonged period of time, walk up to and even over 10000 steps in a shift and easily bend at the waist;
    • You must have a STRONG KNOWLEDGE of food ingredients, preparation techniques and the ability to memorize a menu;
    • You must have an EXCELLENT WINE KNOWLEDGE and be able to confidently recommend Varietals to a table based on their food selections;
    • Be familiar with using position points and the finer elements of serving;
    • Ability to multi task efficiency with urgency and confidence
    • Attention to detail making guests feel welcome, important, and relaxed 
    • Work well in a team environment and be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with the Chef.

    Experience Required/Qualifications:

    • 3 years fine dining and strong wine knowledge, and over 18 years old
    • Be able to handle a 5 table section in a busy Fine Dining establishment;
    • Have recent ALOHA Point of Sale experience and be willing to use handheld POS devices;
    • Hold both a Washington State Food Handlers Permit and a Washington State MAST permit;
    • Read, write and speak conversational English.

    Wage: $13.69 per hour + Tips.The average is $40-$50 per hour.   McMillin's servers are required to contribute 5% of their Total Sales into a daily Tip Pool which is distributed to all FOH support Staff
