Mountain Operations
Lift Operations Manager
Red River
Year Round Opportunity
Oversee and manage all aspects of the Lift Operations Department. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Hire, train, schedule, and manage employees for the Lift Operations Department.

• Completes disciplinary action, employee evaluations, and other departmental personnel functions.

• Develop policies, procedures, and revisions as necessary within the department.

• Set goals and objectives for the Lift Operations Department. Set a positive and professional example for all employees to follow.

• Ensure that all Lift Operations personnel work towards departmental goals and objectives as a team.

• Focuses experience on developing training programs for all Lift Operational personnel, ensuring a priority of safety, job knowledge, and guest/interpersonal relations.

• Examines and ensures that all operations comply with A.N.S.I. B77 Code.

• Monitors Operational Daily Logs per the A.N.S.I. B77 Code.

• Stays aware of conditions or occurrences that may adversely affect the safety of operations.

• Troubleshoots daily problems on chairlifts.

• Facilitates developing and implementing all Lift Operations Department safety programs, including the O.S.H.A. required monthly safety meeting. Holds and documents weekly safety meetings.

• Diplomatically handles staff situations.

• Operates assigned equipment in a safe, competent, and knowledgeable manner.

• Maintains informed about the lift openings, closures, and general skiing conditions.

• Conducts departmental Daily Morning Meetings. 
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists with lift evacuations.

• Assist the Lift Maintenance Department.  

• Keep a nice and neat appearance, keep your uniform clean, and have good personal hygiene.

• Must be dependable and punctual.

• Willingly perform any task outside the assigned job parameters, which may be required to help Red River Ski Area meet required goals or standards.

Mountain Operations
Lift Operator
Red River
Assist and interact with guests in getting on and off chairlifts. Be responsible for operating and monitoring the chairlift. Perform chairlift operational checks alongside lift maintenance to ensure the safe operation of the lift, including the daily operational logs, reports, and checklists. Part of the daily duties may include assisting with the ticket-checking side of our department to ensure all guests and mountain staff have a proper ticket or pass before loading the lift. Be able to communicate effectively and professionally to guests using a faulty pass and be able to resolve any issues. Greet our guests and answer any questions while maintaining the lift line.
Requires ability to perform physical labor, such as shoveling, chipping ice, etc. Must follow instructions, give directions, and communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and, most importantly, our guests. Must communicate effectively under pressure and/or during emergencies. Must be reliable and prepared to work outdoors for long periods in all types of weather. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate equipment safely and knowledgeably. 

• Conduct all morning operational safety checks alongside the Lift Maintenance Department.

• Maintain loading and unloading areas by shoveling, raking, and/or chipping ice and snow to ensure a safe area for the guests. 

• Maintain lift logs as trained. 

• Have an informed status about lift openings, closures, and trail openings and closures. 

• Maintain an alert and reactive ability while operating the lift. 

• Should be able to lift at least 40 pounds.

• Create and keep up open communication with guests and coworkers. 

• Responsible for checking all season passes and lift tickets for authenticity. 

• Keep all areas clean of trash and other debris. 

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to help other departments within Red River Ski Area. 

• This position requires significant amounts of shoveling, raking, and chipping of ice and snow. 

• The ability to perform strenuous physical activities throughout the day is critical to this position. 

• Ability to work and communicate effectively during stressful or emergencies. 
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist ski patrol, management, and lift maintenance with lift evacuations.

• Working extra hours or shifts can result in overtime.

• Keep a neat appearance, keep your uniform clean, and have good personal hygiene. 
Qualifications

Shop Mechanic

Maintains and overhauls diesel and gasoline automobiles, trucks, tractors, snowmobiles, snow grooming machines, and other vehicles by performing the following duties. 
Duties and Responsibilities
• Examines vehicle and discusses with the supervisor the nature and extent of damage or malfunction. Plans work procedure.
• Raises the vehicle with a hydraulic jack or hoist to gain access to mechanical units bolted to its underside.
• Repairs or replaces pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
• Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
• Rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks. Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.
• Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.
• Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.
• Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
• Overhauls electric, gas, or diesel engines.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
• Fabricates particular lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
• Visually inspects hydraulic lines and components to detect leaks, damage, and wear.
• Replaces worn or damaged hydraulic components such as oil lines, fittings, cylinders, servo valves, pressure release valves, gaskets, and seals.
• Performs routine maintenance, such as changing filters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Instructs group and private lessons, both adult and youth, as assigned.
• Serves as a public relations representative for the Red River Ski & Summer Area, both on and off the job.
• Using our teaching handbook as a guide, provide a safe and fun learning environment through exceptional class handling and creativity.
• Upholding the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain in high altitudes, with varying winter weather conditions.
• Clearly and accurately instruct students on assigned levels of skiing, both physically and verbally.
• Willingly perform any task outside the assigned job parameters, which may be required to help the Ski School Departments or Red River Ski & Summer Area meet required goals or standards.

Ski Patrol
Ski Patroller
Red River
Promote the safety of our guests and employees through quality emergency care. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mountain Safety
• Educate guests on safety while promoting the New Mexico Ski Safety Act.
• Erect and maintain mountain signage, closed areas, ropes, and markings.  
• Correct any obstacles or safety issues that are ongoing throughout the day. 
• Monitor trails for fast or reckless skiers and, if necessary, warn them of the risks of injury to themselves and others.
• Close or maintain mountain sections due to weather, slope conditions, or special events. 
• Stop violators from skiing closed areas.  
• Assist or guide anyone who is having trouble.
• Perform sweeps of all main trails throughout the day and closing.
• Attend classroom sessions and field exercises in avalanche training and rescue procedures.
• Perform any avalanche rescue or avalanche reduction.  
• Administer care and transport injured parties to the Ultimed Clinic.
• Participate in any rescues or searches within our ski area boundary and help locate or repair lost or stolen equipment.
• Attend classroom sessions and field exercises on the evacuation procedures for all lifts.
• Evacuate any lift if necessary. 
Incident Reporting 
• All incidents will be reported on the appropriate forms.  They must be legible and completed promptly. 
• Any incident involving an employee at work must be reported immediately to the department supervisor, and forms must be submitted to Lisa Smith for Worker’s Compensation.
• All red-flag incidents must be reported to the Ski Patrol Director immediately.
Mountain Maintenance
• It is the responsibility of the ski patrol to assist in all areas of mountain maintenance.  Ski packing, side slipping, grooming scars, snowmaking issues, and any clean-up.  Also, any issues deemed necessary by ski area management.
Equipment Maintenance
• Ski patrol is responsible for maintaining all equipment in good condition. All patrol equipment will be checked and maintained daily.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• All ski patrolers will adhere to and obey any direct orders or requests from the ski area management team.  
• All ski patrolers must comply with all articles about Section 9C of Guest Interactions. 
Qualification
• Demonstrate good guest and employee relations, including the ability to be pleasant, courteous, and actively friendly with everyone. 
• The job requires high physical conditioning, endurance, and strength. 
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activities for extended periods. 
• Ability to read and interpret documents used by ski patrol and Red River Ski Area. 
• Ability to reason and deal with emergencies performing under high stress. 
• Must be able to ski at an intermediate level.
• Must ski well enough and have the judgment to handle themselves and a sled under all mountain conditions.
• Valid NSP Outdoor Emergency Care card or its equivalent.  
• CPR training.
• APP/NSP—The Red River Ski Patrol members will join both professional organizations to further their education in mountain operations and industry standards.
Work Environment
• Regularly work with machinery and moving mechanical parts and tools.
• Work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and environmental conditions.  
• Lifting heavy weights, standing, climbing, and skiing will be required daily under any weather conditions.

Terrain Park Staff
Red River
Terrain Park Staff is responsible for building and maintaining our two terrain parks. Represent Red River Ski & Summer Area with exceptional customer service by advocating for the responsible and safe use of freestyle features by our guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Open and close terrain parks daily, including setting fences and visible signage.
• Advocate for our guests' responsible and safe use of freestyle features through the Smart Style and Park Smart programs.
• Maintain freestyle features in all conditions throughout the day.
• Monitor the park for safety hazards and close freestyle features when necessary.
• Ability to negotiate features to ensure proper trajectory and safety of freestyle features.
• Help setting up and running events. Maintain features during competitions.
• Keep detailed logs of all maintenance done to freestyle features every day.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to help other departments within Red River Ski Area. 
Qualifications
• Proficient skiing or snowboarding skills on freestyle features.
• Ability to ski or snowboard with rake, shovels, or pales.
• Must be dependable and punctual with daily scheduling. 
• Demonstrate good guest and employee relations. 
• Ability to apply common sense and critical thinking to any situation and to carry out instructions put forth by management. 
Work Environment
