JOB SUMMARY

The Outdoor Schools and Adventure Travel Specialty Sales Representative position is primarily responsible for generating new business and maintaining existing sales for NOC’s SOLO Southeast (Wilderness Medicine and Survival), Adventure Travel, and Paddling School Programs. This position particularly focuses on SOLO Southeast sales through maintaining relationships and growing overall revenue through a mix of consumer facing, custom, and institutional programming.  The Outdoor Schools and Adventure Travel Specialty Sales Representative position reports to the Sales Director and works closely with operations and marketing departments to achieve strategic business growth.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Generate new sales and maintain existing business for SOLO Southeast, NOC’s Paddling School, and NOC’s Adventure Travel Program
  • Maintain accurate information for prospective and booked business utilizing NOC’s software platforms, processes, and data management
  • Answer inbound guest phone calls, emails and chats
  • Prioritize, respond to and follow-up with all inbound lead inquiries in a timely manner
  • Conduct outbound lead generation and follow-up via cold calling 
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of NOC products and processes    
  • Provide guests with superior guest service via email, phone, and in-person before and after reservation completion.
  • Collect deposit and balance payments in a timely fashion per NOC payment policies
  • Collaborate with all NOC departments to ensure that all bookings are executed to product and guest expectations
  • Actively develop new business opportunities in collaboration with Operations and Marketing Departments.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Department to ensure website and collateral information is accurate and identify opportunities for new collateral and sales opportunities 
  • Collaborate with other Specialty Representatives and Sales Team members to identify areas for sales growth and process improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes to increase revenue, improve guest and increase efficiency
  • Manage key accounts 
  • Manage special projects related to sales and marketing
  • Identify & attend tradeshows to strategically maintain and grow relationships
  • Exemplify and demonstrate NOC’s Core Values, Brand Promise, and Guest Service Commitments
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task  
  • Ability to function as a team player, take direction, as well as work autonomously 
  • Self-disciplined, detail oriented, and highly organized
  • Competent with web-based applications, email, and Office 365 products
  • Passion for the outdoor industry and sharing the outdoors with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior customer service experience 
  • Prior sales experience with demonstrated ability to close and grow sales
  • Prior experience with reservation software and/or CRM
  • Knowledge of NOC activities and courses 
  • Familiarity and experience with wilderness medicine, survival, adventure travel, and whitewater paddling instruction

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Must be comfortable speaking with guests over the phone, via email, and in person
  • Must be comfortable working in an indoor office environment
  • Must be comfortable sitting for long periods of time

Schedule

  • Schedule will generally be M-F with some overnight or weekend travel for tradeshows and weekend hours during summer peak season possible
