Peak season extends from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with some positions starting in April and lasting until late October. Employees are expected to be able to work day and evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.

  • Human Resources Coordinator

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Send onboarding paperwork and track for completion. Assist with email communications to incoming employees. 
    • Assemble orientation packets and assists in requesting building and parking passes.
    • Assist organizing and conducting new employee orientation.
    • Assist with the check-in and check-out process of seasonal employees at the dormitory and RV sites. 
    • Assist with CloudSuite (HRIS) data entry such as hires, promotions, pay changes, transfers, and terminations.
    • Maintain personnel files. 
    • Respond to inquiries regarding policies & procedures, logging into Xanterra systems, and benefits programs. 
    • Assist with promoting and questions for benefits Open Enrollment.
    • Organize, promote, and participate in employee activities throughout the year. Coordinate with the Human Resources Manager monthly celebrations including birthdays, anniversaries, and recognition of individual and team accomplishments
    • Assist with employee shuttles to/from airport, bus station, grocery store, bank, and Social Security Office.
    • Assist with ordering uniforms and departmental office supplies, and processing Purchase Orders.
    • Act as a backup for dormitory inspections.
    • Create and conduct various departmental trainings.
    • ISO 9001 manager assignment tracking oversight: 
      • Tracking manager activity on a weekly basis relative to ISO 9001. 
      • Schedule monthly meetings, with all managers in attendance, to review ISO 9001 progress.  The General Manager will lead these meetings.
      • Update ISO 9001 documentation including the XIQ Manual and supporting documents.
      • Develop promotional material to maintain employee interest and focus on ISO 9001.

    Qualifications:

    • Valid Driver's License with clear driving record required.
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Efficient and accurate data entry skills. Previous HRIS experience preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be very comfortable communicating via phone and email.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be friendly, enthusiastic and courteous when dealing with employees, guests and coworkers.

    Education & Experience:

    • Experience: 1-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or some college classes.

    Physical Requirements: 

    • Frequently is required to stand and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to walk.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

    Work Environment:

    • Most work will be conducted in an office environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist customers in a courteous and knowledgeable manner.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for continued supervision, development and training of 2-20 employees in a designated area of the operation.
    • Lead, train, and inspect the performance of assigned staff, ensuring that all procedures are completed to the property's standards. Follow and enforce all policy, procedures, and service standards.
    • Assist in schedules or supervise the scheduling of staff.

  • Night Security Guard

    Join our Summer 2022 Security Team at Mount Rushmore National Memorial! Are you enthusiastic about protecting employees who work at an iconic destination that draws more than 3 million tourists per year? Our employees proudly operate parking, retail, and food and beverage facilities throughout the memorial. In being a key member of our security team overseeing the security of our team member dormitories, you will be solely responsible for the safety and security of our employees.

    Summer seasonal positions start as early as May 31st and extend until October 30th, 2022!

    • Full-Time, Seasonal: Four-night shifts per week, from 8:30 pm-5:00 am
    • Part-Time, Seasonal: Three-night shifts per week, from 8:30 pm-5:00 am

    Responsibilities:

    • Follow all policy, procedures and service standards.
    • Patrol assigned buildings and grounds to observe and identify potential safety/security risks.
    • Respond to all intrusion and fire alarms and assist in implementing Emergency procedures.
    • Respond to medical emergencies and provide care within the scope of training.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attendants do NOT provide valet service but assist and direct visitors in a courteous and knowledgeable manner, acting as first contact with visitors as they arrive at the Memorial.
    • Responsible for issued bank, including accuracy and security.
    • Operate fee computer or cash register; maintain accurate entries, charges, change, and deposits.
    • Assist customers with the pay-on-foot stations.
    • Maintain cleanliness of Parking grounds by performing housekeeping and trash pick-up duties.
    • Direct traffic within the parking facility and act as crossing guard for pedestrian walkways as assigned.
    • Snow removal duties as required, including shoveling walkways, sanding, and salting walkways.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Six months of previous cash handling experience.
    • Six months of previous experience working outdoors preferred.

    As a part of the executive team, the Sustainability Manager reports directly to the General Manager. This experienced sustainability professional will develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental strategies and programs for Xanterra Travel Collection’s Mount Rushmore National Memorial (MORU) and Rocky Mountain National Park (ROMO) retail, restaurant, parking, and employee housing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with National Park Service (NPS) contracts, ISO 14001 standards, and environmental laws as well as maintaining LEED O+M, Parksmart, and Green Restaurant Association certifications.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Monitor and maintain compliance with all sustainability requirements in NPS concession contracts.
    • Ensure legal compliance with local, NPS, state, and federal environmental statutes and regulations and minimize legal liabilities from potential hazards.
    • Achieve and maintain certifications including ISO 14001, LEED O+M (Platinum), Parksmart, and Green Restaurant Association (4-star) for Xanterra’s buildings and operations. Assist others in the maintenance and improvement of ISO 9001 quality management certification.
    • Track all utility use through Xanterra’s Ecometrix platform, measure impact of programs and prepare required reports.
    • Work with the General Managers, operating departments, and the corporate sustainability department to maintain and improve environmental management programs.
    • Support retail, food and beverage, and parking revenue-generating departments in reducing waste and increasing efficiency to increase profits.
    • Monitor and optimize the efficiency of buildings systems.
    • Effectively manage sustainability-related capital projects by delivering quality results on schedule and under budget.
    • Develop and implement appropriate training programs.
    • Serve as environmental spokesperson for Xanterra’s MORU and ROMO operations.
    • Promote Xanterra’s sustainable image through participation in local, regional, and/or national environmental groups; award applications; and media interviews.
    • Prepare and administer the annual financial plan and capital budgets for the sustainability department.
    • Oversee the continued implementation and improvements of the garden and greenhouse operation.
    • Perform manual labor including the collection and transportation of recycling and compost in the off-season.
    • Travel from MORU to ROMO/Estes Park, CO 3-5 times per summer for 2-6 days each time. Travel to one other Xanterra property annually to perform an internal EMS audit.

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical writing and public speaking. Must communicate effectively with superiors, field employees, the NPS, and the media.
    • Must be savvy as to proper business practices and present programs that are practical and financially sound. The Manager must genuinely enjoy people and be an effective team player, while also carefully introducing, promoting, and driving change.
    • Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations as they relate to the hospitality industry, and an ability to keep abreast of this complex field.
    • Understand best practices in project management and the organizational abilities to implement them in a fluid environment.
    • Must be organized and have strong administrative and leadership skills, including experience with operating budgets and related accountability.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Offices products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience assessing cost-effectiveness, cost savings, program effectiveness, and program compliance.
    • An understanding of building electrical and mechanical systems especially including HVAC and lighting is ideal, but not required. Experience reviewing and interpreting construction drawings.
    • Passion for national parks and public lands.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, or a related field. 
    • At least three years of professional experience in all aspects of environmental management.
    • LEED AP O+M or the ability to earn within one year of hire date.
    • Experience in environmental report writing, preferably including EMS development and ISO 14001 certification.
    • Experience in developing sustainability initiatives and implementing all phases of a company-wide environmental program, preferably in a hospitality and/or cooperative government agency setting.

    Physical Requirements: 

    • Must possess physical stamina to withstand extensive standing, lifting, stooping, and bending involved in moving and transporting supplies, equipment, and waste weighing from 50 to 100 pounds.

    Work Environment:

    • Most work will be completed at a desk in an office environment but is expected to frequently engage with employees and guests in the restaurant, gift shop, and parking facility.
    • Will also be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures when working outdoors in the garden in the summer or hauling recycling in the winter.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • Serve on the MORU and ROMO management teams assisting with the oversight of over a hundred seasonal employees. Directly supervise one to three seasonal employees, including a MORU Recycler/Gardener.

AVAILABILITY DATES: Our busy season begins in May and lasts into September. Some positions start in early April and last until mid-October. Your employment chances improve if you can arrive early and work through September or later. Be realistic and specific about the exact dates you will be available, as these dates become part of your Employment Agreement.
