    Responsibilities

    • Continually focus on providing exceptional guest service as a primary goal, both in how work is conducted and when interacting with guests; supervise staff to ensure they adhere to the established standards.
    • Supervise staff daily and constantly evaluate job performance of Bell staff, Guest Service Agents, Lead Agents, Assistant Guest Service Manager.
    • Schedule for front desk and bell coverage according to business demands in an effort to establish an efficient and economical operation.
    • Handle guest accounts properly including posting of charges, and collection of payment.
    • Coordinate the training of new employees and the continual coaching of front desk staff. Conduct annual reviews for assigned staff and administer corrective action as necessary.
    • Hold team members accountable throughout proactive and professional progressive discipline and coaching opportunities to improve overall experience at unit.
    • Track employee attendance as needed.
    • Follow established front desk procedures in carrying out of duties. Handle guest accounts properly including posting of charges, and collection of payment.
    • Follow Xanterra security policies and procedures in the handling and divulging of all company and guest information. Maintain strict guest security in controlling keys and issuing keys.
    • Supervise and control rooms throughout shift to prevent double bookings, sleepers, and other room errors, and to maintain room control. Report out of order rooms to Maintenance and Rooms Department Management.
    • Maintain the shift log and respond to issues and occurrences noted.
    • Monitor cash flow and credit operations of the desk while maintaining accuracy in account handling and reconciling any discrepancies.
    • Maintain and uphold all Front of the House operations while setting the standards of high guest service.
    • Ensure that assigned staff is adhering to all Xanterra South Rim and NPS policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Lost & Found, Cash Handling, Risk, Sustainability, etc. standards.
    • Use a sense of discretion and professionalism when handling guest complaints, make adjustments on accounts when warranted.
    • Maintain open communications between all departments, Rooms Office and unit staff/management members to ensure issues are reported and resolved.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Three years rooms, lodging or operation management experience in a high volume, high occupancy large scale resort/hotel.
    • Ability to direct new personnel and maintain an on-going training program.
    • Ability to accommodate diverse guest clientele in a variety of situations.
    • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication; problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Possess valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete all general maintenance assigned maintenance requests, ensuring timely completion, thoroughness and cost effectiveness.
    • Completely maintain water softeners according to preventive maintenance schedule in designated areas, including maintaining salt inventory.
    • Perform required equipment preventive maintenance as scheduled.
    • Perform electrical equipment troubleshooting repair to 480-volt three-phase systems as it applies to the preventive maintenance system.
    • Perform lighting/ballast repairs on indoor/outdoor lighting.
    • Acidize torpedo water heaters in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Assist with training and development of lower General Maintenance grades.
    • Adhere to all safety, risk management and sustainability policies and procedures.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when performing tasks.
    • Work second shift as needed.
    • Be available for after hour call outs as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum three-years experience in general building maintenance, or in trades such as electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, etc.
    • Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
    • Possess physical ability to complete assigned tasks, including entering confined space, ascending/descending ladder, and safely lifting up to one hundred

    Physical Requirements include:

    • Walk and stand constantly throughout shift
    • Frequently handle, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat/kneel, and bend
    • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and carry over 100 pounds
    • Frequently push and pull up to 100 pounds

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with the repair of mule-related impact on the Bright Angel and South Kaibab Trails.
    • Maintain an efficient packing system to maximize time at work sites.
    • Repair gear as necessary and report defective equipment to the Trail Crew Lead.
    • Assist the Trail Crew Lead and Livery Management with the safe and healthy use of mules in the trail crew operation.
    • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies.
    • Overnight stays at Phantom Ranch may be required from time to time. Based on the mixed-gender nature of the Trail crews and limited employee housing at the bottom of the Canyon, employees may be required to share room accommodations with team members of the opposite sex. Employees will have access to gender-specific shower and restroom facilities, but will be expected to sleep in a co-ed bunk house.

    Qualifications

    • Extensive experience handling horses or mules, and proven equestrian skills.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Catch and saddle designated mules, grain and groom mules while saddling.
    • Check equipment each day before saddling; report any defective equipment to Livery Management.
    • Assist other mule guides in keeping the barn and corral clean.
    • Assist with daily feeding of mules.
    • Put mules up according to procedures, properly store saddles/tack.
    • Help load/unload guests onto mules at all load/unload points along the ride. Check equipment before loading guests at all points.
    • Always be aware of the string on the trail, pay close attention to riders, keep string together, keep rider safety at the forefront at all times.
    • Provide interpretive information about the Grand Canyon throughout the ride.
    • Pay attention to trail conditions, pending weather conditions, trail hazards, other trail issues that may pose a danger to the mules, mule guides and/or riders.
    • Communicate via two-way radio any accidents to mules or riders, and/or other important information.
    • Check all mule guide gear and make certain that such gear is equipped with all attachments, such as first aid emergency kits, and canteens.
    • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies while performing tasks.
    • Overnight stays at Phantom Ranch may be required from time to time. Based on the mixed-gender nature of the Trail crews and limited employee housing at the bottom of the Canyon, employees may be required to share room accommodations with team members of the opposite sex. Employees will have access to gender-specific shower and restroom facilities, but will be expected to sleep in a co-ed bunk house.

    Qualifications

    • Good verbal communication skills with ability to give instructions to riders, and provide interpretive information about the Grand Canyon.
    • Must be able to become certified in CPR, and basic first aid.

    • Experience with, or ability to learn two-way radio communications.
    • Selected candidates will be required to take a student ride to Phantom Ranch to make sure they can handle the depth, heat and terrain of the Canyon. The student ride will be free, but candidate travel expenses and lodging while here are not included.

    Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the Unit Manager, Assistant Restaurant Managers, and Sous Chefs to maintain the operations, ensure product quality, consistent plate presentations while fostering a positive and educational work environment.
    • Coordinate all tour groups, banquets, and special events as necessary based on the specifications noted within the booking.
    • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, floor presence, purchasing decisions and inventory controls.
    • Coach team members and Assistant Managers daily to drive premium guest service, job satisfaction and maintaining team member morale.
    • Reinforce positive behaviors or coach to improve performance of Assistant Managers and Team Members as needed.
    • Coach Assistant Managers in handling performance issues, participating as warranted. Partner with Human Resources to ensure compliance with company, state and federal policies and laws.
    • Ensure proper stock levels of operating supplies including, but not limited to china, glass, silver, menus, and equipment.
    • Develop, institute, and follow up on all necessary training programs, operating procedures, opening / closing checklists / side work and cost control measurements for all line level positions within the department.
    • Participate, supervise, and remain accountable for beverage inventories and monthly beverage cost; run a seasonal cocktail program through training and recipe cards.
    • Author and administer annual performance reviews for hourly employees.
    • Responsible for all sanitation standards for front of house work areas in accordance with company, National Park Service and Serve Safe standards.
    • Review all VIP reservations for the dining rooms.
    • Conduct daily shift meetings, communicating all relevant information to the team.
    • Communicate with Assistant Food & Beverage Director on live entertainment bookings for the lounge.
    • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies.
    • Ensure staff is adhering to risk management procedures including, but not limited to, wearing personal protective equipment, SDS location and comprehension, ergonomics and slip and fall.
    • Project a commitment to our sustainability policies and educate team members on initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
    • At least three years of high-volume, full service restaurant management experience.
    • Experience with and knowledge of all front of the house positions with the ability to quickly assess service situation(s) during the meal period(s).
    • Beer, Liquor and Wine knowledge is a must.
    • Experience managing the financial aspects of a restaurant
    • Ability to train and evaluate staff performance in a full-service restaurant.

    Responsibilities

    • Greet the guests as they approach the podium and make them feel welcome.
    • Remain knowledgeable of property wide offerings and current trail conditions as it relates to water supply, closures, and bus routes.
    • Remain fluid with all hours of operations for the restaurant and current menu selections as well as the daily feature.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    • Respond to fire calls in Grand Canyon Village, as well as for any fires throughout the South Rim area. Investigate and/or report the incident working within NPS protocols.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of cost-effective programs, safety and environmental management system (ISO 14001) policies, and procedures to maintain compliance.
    • Manage Hazard assessment activity by conducting safety and sustainability inspections. Prepare documentation on inspection findings and coordinate with department heads on action plans.
    • Manage for the Sustainability and Risk Departments the overhaul of the GCNPL SDS program and audit SDS books in each department annually.
    • Review safety programs annually to make sure they are still meeting the needs of the operations and the law.
    • Worker compensation functions includes:
      • Within three calendar days, files workers’ compensation claims.
      • Reviews and follows-up on all work-related and workers’ compensation incident / accident reports.
      • Conducts or participates in RCA investigations including obtaining photographs, witness statements, etc., and providing those to the adjuster as indicated.
      • Scans requisite documents to WC TPA (workers’ compensation third party administrator) and / or into the appropriate software system.
      • Assists employees with completion of paperwork and claim-related questions (contact information for the adjuster, etc.).
      • Assists with coordination of return-to-work assignments for injured employees. This may require follow-up with the respective health care provider, location department manager / supervisor, and / or the Human Resources Department. Escalates to Director, Risk Management if there is an anticipated potentially permanent work restriction and / or consideration for ADA accommodation.
      • Advises employee’s department and HR when employee will miss time from work related to WC claim so that timely leave processing and appropriate leave of absence coding occurs (FMLA, personal leave, e.g.).
    • Assist with oversight of recycling, composting and operation Shirley apples programs and other waste reduction programs to be developed; annual community e-waste collection events.
    • Provide training resources and conduct in person training, to include:
      • Incident and Accident Training
      • Proper worker comp procedures Training
      • Safety programs Training
      • Emergency Spill Response
    • Assist in the maintenance of all health, safety, and sustainability records per the law and contract.

    Qualifications

    • Must possess strong organizational skills, technical writing / editing, business communication (written and verbal), and computer skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform assigned work orders regarding carpentry, interior and exterior, in a timely, thorough and cost effective manner.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the quality, food safety/sanitation, and timeliness of dishes served.
    • Ensure consistency in techniques to be used for proper food preparation, portioning, and plating as outlined in recipes, product rotation, and mise en place.

      • Knowledge of ServeSafe HACCP food sanitation program with ability to apply necessary portions of program.
    • Line Cook III
      • Previous kitchen experience with some cooking experience on a line station or batch cooking.
      • Basic knowledge of the production areas of the kitchen and equipment such as slicers, steamers, and kettles.
      • Safe and proficient knife handling skills.
      • Basic knowledge of ServeSafe HACCP food sanitation program with ability to apply necessary portions of program.
    • All cooks must be available for evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
    • Must be able to pass ServSafe food handler training.

    Physical Requirements include:

    • Physical ability to lift thirty pounds of food product and carry it twenty-five feet minimum.
    • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and work in high temperatures.

    Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the Kitchen Manager and Assistant to maintain a professional operation, ensure product quality and plate presentations.
    • Maintain labor costs in accordance with financial plan, seasonal business levels, and special events.
    • Oversee the regular service of the dining room and Arizona Steakhouse to ensure professional operation and consistently high quality of service. Emphasis on dining room management should focus on the lunch and dinner seating’s with supervision of breakfast seating’s conducted on an as needed basis.
    • Work with the Food & Beverage Trainer to administer a comprehensive training program for Servers, Dining Room Bussers, Host/Hostess’, Cashiers, Cocktail Servers and Bartenders.
    • Work with Assistant Managers on continual management training.
    • Counsel with Assistant Managers for recommendations and approval of all promotions for the dining rooms, lounge and employee cafeteria.
    • Review and approve all annual reviews for the hourly employees. Consult with Food & Beverage Director on the annual performance reviews for Assistant Managers.
    • Conduct corrective action as necessary and approve all corrective action administered by Assistant Managers.
    • Approve all change of status forms effecting Bright Angel front of house staff.
    • Oversee and approve schedules for front and back of the house positions.
    • Supervise all monthly inventories.
    • Responsible for the maintenance of sanitation standards for the dining rooms, lounge and employee cafeteria in accordance with company, National Park Service, and Serve Safe standards.
    • Responsible for establishing and overseeing side work duties, special opening and closing duties for front of the house staff.
    • Responsible for all VIP reservations for the Arizona Steakhouse dining room.
    • Responsible for shift meetings, communicating specials and other pertinent information to staff.
    • Communicate with Assistant Director on live entertainment bookings for the lounge.
    • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies.
    • Ensure staff is adhering to risk management procedures including, but not limited to, wearing personal protective equipment, MSDS location and comprehension, ergonomics and slip and fall.
    • Project a commitment to Xanterra South Rim environmental policies.
    • Be accountable to NPS survey results and goals. Hold leadership team and hourly employees accountable for performance to achieve results.
    • Be accountable to Unifocus survey goals and results. Hold leadership team accountable for performance to achieve desired results.

    Qualifications

    • Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
    • 4 years salaried management experience in multi-unit dining establishment(s).
    • Experience with and knowledge of all front of the house positions with the ability to quickly assess service situation(s) during the meal period(s).
    • Beer, Liquor and Wine knowledge is a must.
    • Experience managing the financial aspects of a restaurant
    • Ability to train and evaluate staff performance in a full-service restaurant.
    • Demonstrated positive leadership skills with the ability to drive employee engagement.
    • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to pass ServeSafe Manager course and TIPS training within 90 days of employment.
    • Competency using Outlook, Word and Excel.
    • Experience with computerized POS systems.
