Seeking Male Camp Counselors to spend the summer in cool colorful Colorado at a historic camp!
Blue Mountain Ranch is a small private summer camp located 35 miles west of Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1946 by Bill and Dorothy Allen under the idea of participation over competition. Coach Allen, a high school football coach from Fort Worth, Texas, was ahead of his time. Being a very competitive person helped him to understand the importance of taking a break. Especially for camper and staff to step away from their fast-paced life and just be kids for the summer. For the last 79 years, the Allen/Graf family has continued to have a positive influence on our staff and campers from all over the country and globe.
At BMR staff are provided with the opportunity to make friends with co-workers from all walks of life. Our setting provides staff with the opportunity to make lifelong friendships. They stay in cabins with campers and teach activities during the day based on their interests. Activities range from horseback riding to hiking, to sports, to archery, to swimming, to challenge course, and much more.
We are looking for counselors who are outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic, and have leadership skills or experience. We prefer staff to have staff arrive with a Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
If staff are interested in teaching more risk-related activities such as horseback, lifeguard, archery, rappelling, and challenge courses, we prefer that you have a certificate or extensive documented experience. Applicant should have experience and an interest in working with children.
Room and Board is included as part of the compensation package. Our cabins have sleeping areas, bathrooms, and a common room. They come with heat and there is no need for AC.
Staff receive a day off and laundry night each week. There is also time off between sessions. Staff are paid every two weeks. Orientations are paid as well. At the end of the summer, staff are eligible for a performance-based bonus.
Counselors have the option to drive themselves or fly into Colorado Springs airport which is about an hour from campus. We can schedule something out of Denver International Airport but camp is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. If flying in, we will arrange for someone to pick you up, if needed. Alternatively, the perk of being your own vehicle is that it makes leaving campus more convenient.
We are just outside of Florissant, CO. There are lots of hiking trails in our area. It also means we are 1 hour away from Colorado Springs and Buena Vista. Colorado Springs has a minor league soccer team, concerts, Garden of the Gods, restaurants, and the Air Force Academy. Buena Vista has mountain views, shopping, and white water rafting. We are two hours away from Denver, CO. Denver has concert venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Colorado Rockies, restaurants, MLS Colorado Rapids, and much more. Breckenridge, CO is just a little under 2 hours away as well.
