Alaska Nature Guides is now taking applications to fill several naturalist hiking guide positions for the summer of 2024. Our guides lead nature walks, hikes, and other tours in the spectacular wilderness of Denali State Park and Talkeetna, Alaska.

Pay is about $150 per 8-hour day, depending on experience and schedule, plus tips. Your clients are generally well educated, appreciative, and very interested in learning about nature and Alaska. You will mainly be guiding our awesome Denali Wilderness Hike and Byers Lake Nature Walk trips. Look them up on our website and see what our guests say about us on Trip Advisor!

We are a long-established and respected family business.  We are fortunate to guide in some of the most spectacular areas on Earth, and as leaders in sustainable tourism, we do our best to keep them that way. We are a small business, operate as a team, and are looking for just the right people to join our family for the summer. Is it you?

Only highly qualified candidates should apply. We prefer candidates with experience in outdoor skills, natural history, customer service, and guiding in Alaska. Applicants must be familiar with Alaskan flora and fauna and have a genuine interest in learning more. Guides must be physically fit, certified in first aid and CPR, and should be familiar with Leave No Trace ethics. This position involves a high degree of customer contact; an applicant should be mature, responsible, independent, self-sufficient, fun, highly motivated, and enthusiastic. You will also drive a 15-passenger van and must have no accidents or violations on your record for the last three years.

Housing is available at our guides’ residence within the park. The park is fairly remote, so you should have your own reliable transportation. The hiking, fishing, canoeing, and wildlife viewing are fantastic, but there are few amenities or social outlets nearby. Our season is approximately May 17 through Sept. 16th (start and end dates are flexible). Please contact us and apply as soon as you can.

Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you!
