Denali Backcountry Lodge is an exclusive wilderness lodge located in Kantishna, deep inside Denali National Park. Nestled at the base of the Alaska Range, our lodge offers a unique wilderness experience and endless natural wonders to behold. The serenity and beauty of this lodge experience is a life-altering phenomenon.
Denali Cabins are conveniently located just 8 miles south of the entrance to the Park, far enough from the crowds but close enough to the activities. Our collection of authentic cedar cabins offers an affordable alternative to the big commercial hotels sprawling the park entrance.
Denali Backcountry Adventure - An adventure of a lifetime in just one day. This fully narrated day trip to our Property Denali Backcountry Lodge in Kantishna explores the entire 92 miles of the restricted Denali Park Road. Guests will enjoy buffet lunch and afternoon activities at the Lodge. The return trip to the Park entrance offers more opportunities to view wildlife and the stunning beauty of the Park.
We are looking for a special group of men and women who truly understand the value of teamwork, have a love for the outdoors, have a great sense of humor, enjoy challenging situations, and are mature and committed to their work. We strive to recruit, select, and work with individuals who are educated, have a strong work ethic, and who are committed to providing exceptional customer service. We are pleased that you want to spend your summer with us to help us attain our goal of providing quality customer service for all of our guests.
Please keep in mind that you will be working and living at your respective locations, on-site, full time. It can be challenging to separate the work environment from the living environment, and delineate the importance of establishing the difference between a working relationship and personal relationships. This environment can be especially rewarding for those of you who choose to work and live on-site at the Denali Backcountry Lodge.
At the Denali Backcountry Lodge you will have the opportunity to play in a remote wilderness so pristine, so unexplored, and so amazing; that people pay thousands of dollars a day just to come here. Mt. Denali, the largest and tallest mountain in North America, is just a few miles away. Outdoor activities such as backpacking, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, photography, running, kayaking, gold mining, and exploring abound. However, please understand that if you do not like living in a remote setting, if you need to be close to shopping and restaurants, or if you need television and cell phone services close at hand, this is not the job or location for you.

Choosing to spend an entire summer season in Alaska will be the best choice of your life! The opportunity to be on your own adventure, meeting other people that came to Alaska on an adventure or their own; and meeting travelers from all over the world that came to Alaska to have the Greatest Adventure EVER! Getting Here and Getting Around
If you live out of the State of Alaska, you have two choices to get here.
By Car: This is the choice for the most adventurous or for those who have the time to enjoy one of the most beautiful rides in earth. In general, it’s best to arrive in Anchorage a few days before your first day of work. You may want to do some last minute shopping in Anchorage, as there is not much available in Denali.
By Plane: Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is your best choice. It is served by major and commuter airlines. Most flights into Anchorage are in the late afternoon or evening, which is too late to catch our bus or any other type of transportation service to Denali Park entrance area. We will offer transportation from Anchorage to Denali only on specific pre-scheduled dates.
If you can’t make our scheduled staff bus departure, you will have to catch the train or Park Connection to Denali. The train departs Anchorage early in the morning (8:00am), and arrives at the Denali train depot until 4:00 PM, which makes for a long day. The park connection has daily service to Denali at the beginning of the season, and has twice daily service in the height of the tourism season. For those arriving via the Alaska Railroad we will pick you up at the train depot. Look for our company vans with Denali Backcountry Lodge & Denali Cabins logos, or a staff member wearing an Alaska Denali Travel shirt. If you do not see one of our representatives at the depot you can contact the Denali Cabins’ front desk from the train depot by calling us at (907) 683-2643.
While working at the Denali Cabins employees have access to our shuttle system that runs throughout the day. This allows employees to access the town site for shopping, dining, and other activities; access the National Park or National Park Service visitor’s center; or to access the hiking trails and bus systems that can take employees further into the park.
While living on-site at the Denali Cabins or the Denali Backcountry Lodge there are a number of activities that you can enjoy. The following list is not comprehensive by any means, but it does give you an idea of the types of activities you can be involved in.
- Wildlife Tours
- Mountain Biking
- Overnight stays at our lodges
- Flightseeing Tours
- ATV Riding
- Dog Mushing Tours
- Jet Boat Tours
Please keep in mind that while we provide a number of these opportunities through our businesses, many tours are offered through our partners. In some cases these tours may be free of charge, but in other cases you may have to pay a discounted rate to participate in some activities.
