  • Barista

    Denali Cabins

As the Barista, you will present a courteous and positive guest service attitude. You will be responsible for making exceptional, high quality beverages to include a variety of coffee drinks and smoothies. You will also be responsible for preparing food items, cash handling and monitoring food quality and sanitary conditions. You will have a range of duties in order to assist the wait staff including:

    • Sanitize work areas during shift and before the next shift
    • Ensure all equipment is clean
    • Follow and complete prep list each day
    • Use standard recipes and presentations

  • Line Cook

    Denali Cabins

    Drive a van, minibus, lightweight truck, or cube van to transport goods to and from Denali Backcountry Lodge, Denali Cabins, Denali train depot, McKinley Village, Denali Visitors’ Center, Anchorage, AK and other properties as assigned

    • Regular trips into Anchorage, AK to purchase supplies of variable substance
    • Prepare lists from management and leadership to identify supplies needed
    • Deliver and unload purchased supplies to destination
    • Delivery, loading, and unloading of luggage, products, supplies, equipment, and trash
    • Assist other departments as needed to facilitate a smooth operation to maximize the guest visits and satisfaction
    • Cater to any and all needs as requested as you are the life line for this remote location

  • Dishwasher

  • Logistics Coordinator

    Denali Cabins
    $13.00 / hour

    The Logistics Expediter position facilitates transport of goods and guests in and around the Denali Park area. The Logistics Expediter organizes and maintains logistics space and bus manifests. The Logistics Expediter ensures that all passengers and supplies are loaded on the buses as required and reconciles any difference encountered.

    • Works with guests to ensure satisfaction in such areas as quality, service, and problem resolution
    • Drives a van, minibus, lightweight truck, or cube van to transport passengers and goods to and from Denali Backcountry Lodge, Denali Cabins, Denali train depot, McKinley Village, Denali Visitors’ Center, and other properties as assigned
    • Delivery, loading, and unloading of luggage, products, supplies, equipment, and trash
    • Stock snacks, sodas, coffee, etc. to be consumed in route to destination
    • Assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicles
    • Assist continental breakfast attendant as needed between bus departures
    • Organize turn-around of Denali Backcountry Lodge bus when necessary
    • Organize and maintain logistics space, including logistics storage, walk-in cooler, and logistics ramp / deck
    • Assist other departments as needed to facilitate a smooth operation to maximize the guest visits and satisfaction
    • Answer inquiries pertaining to organizations services, shopping, dining, tourism, entertainment, and providing travel directions for the area

  • Operations Assistant

    Denali Backcountry Lodge and Denali Cabins

    The Operations Assistant provides general administrative, Human Resources and payroll services for the operations, including recruitment, employee processing, data entry, orientation, training, development, and maintenance of personnel files. The Operations Assistant provides coordination of activities and business processes that affect operation and is responsible for handling sensitive and confidential information.   

    • Composes, edits, types and revises letters, financial documents, various reports and other material as necessary.  
    • Screens incoming calls, takes messages, refers calls and responds to routine callers 
    • Makes decisions about priority information received by mail and telephone during the absence of the General Manager and department heads Assists General Manager with expense reporting requirements 
    • Ensures all new hire, status change and terminated employee information is accurate, complete, processed and submitted to the Alaska Collection People & Culture department in a timely manner 
    • Creates and maintains an organized personnel folder for each employee and ensures appropriate documentation is filed accurately and timely, and the required original forms are sent to the Alaska Collection People & Culture department 
    • Plans, prepares and conducts orientation training for all employees 
    • Coordinates and tracks distribution of corporate policy manuals and updates 
    • Administers the employee housing program, makes housing assignments, and oversees the Resident Advisor program and training 
    • Collects employee timesheets and ensures data entry is completed in a timely manner prior to payroll processing 
    • Participates in staff meetings, records Meeting Minutes, and distributes information to staff 
    • Responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing for the operation, ensuring accurate labor hours are reported and appropriate corrections are made in the timekeeping system

    This is a remote, fly-in position located in Denali National Park. Due to this, all positions at DBL require assisting in other departments.

As a Baker, you will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of breads, rolls, pastries and other baked goods. You will work independently for extended periods throughout the day, but will also require you to be flexible and to work as a part of the kitchen staff in order to meet production deadlines and food quality guidelines.  You will have a range of duties and responsibilities such as:

    • Baking large quantities of goods
    • Maintaining standards of safety and sanitation
    • Supervise employees and/or other helpers in the preparation of baked goods

You will have a range of duties and responsibilities to include:

    • Provide natural and cultural history information to Lodge guests; hikes vary from casual, moderate and challenging
    • Transport guests to trailheads on private and National Park Service lands
    • Develop and present educational programs
    • Maintain fishing gear and waders and sell fishing licenses to guests

  • Assistant General Manager

    Denali Backcountry Lodge

    This is a remote, fly-in position located in Denali National Park. Due to this, all positions at DBL require assisting in other departments.

    Responsible for assisting the General Manager of the lodge with management and daily operation of all the Denali Backcountry Lodge facilities, including efficient operation of housekeeping, accounting and cash control, food and beverage operations, gift shop operations, and proper maintenance of the buildings. Responsible for scheduling, training, coaching and disciplining the guest service agents, GSA supervisor and submitting time sheets weekly. Responsible for safe and efficient food and beverage operations; selection, hiring and training of all food and beverage department personnel and labor cost control, and producing a consistently high quality dining experience according to lodge standards. Attend staff meetings, safety briefings daily

     

    • Provide excellent guest service to guests and other team members
    • Make sound judgments and anticipate issues and opportunities
    • Handle comments, complaints and concerns with a high level of efficiency and in the best interest of the guest
    • Work closely with all other departments to ensure overall guest satisfaction
    • Greet arriving/departing guests in a professional and pleasant manner
    • Be knowledgeable of daily functions or activities occurring at the Lodge and in area in order to answer guests’ questions
    • In conjunction with the General Manager responsible for the overall management and operation of all Fox Island facilities, including but not limited to:
    • Ensuring the safety and security of all guests and employees while on Fox Island
    • Meeting or exceeding industry and Company standards of guest service and product quality
    • Ensuring facilities meet or exceed legal, industry and Company standards for cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, such as: daily, weekly and ongoing maintenance and cleaning in and around facilities compliance with DEC regulations relating to cleaning and sanitizing guidelines for kitchen, dining room and food storage areas, such as refrigerator, freezer and cooler space
    • Developing and coordinating regularly scheduled safety meetings and drills.
    • Maintaining adequate daily and ongoing inventory of all lodging supplies, food and dry goods.
    • Coordinating and managing duties associated with start-up and shut down of Fox Island facilities.

  • Guest Service Agent

    Denali Backcountry Lodge

    This is a remote, fly-in position located in Denali National Park. Due to this, all positions at DBL require assisting in other departments.

As Guest Service Agent, you will be a team member that wears many hats. This role largely assists with Food and Beverage services in the dining room, along with housekeeping of shared public areas, luggage handling, gift shop and general maintenance of the facilities. You will have a range of duties and responsibilities to include:

     

    • Greeting guests, serving, food running, bussing tables and some food prep
    • Assisting with housekeeping, laundry, luggage, dishwashing, cleaning guest areas
    • Participate in the provisioning of the lodge to include loading and unloading of supply drops, conducting inventories and properly and safely storing items
    • Handle guest comments and feedback with a high level of efficiency
    • Cover and maintain Gift Shop sales and retail merchandise space
    • Familiarize guests with local activities and lodge service
    • Work closely with all other departments to ensure overall guest satisfaction
