About the Role
Wilderness Adventures is looking for trip leaders who are enthusiastic about working with student ages 11-20 in group settings. Leaders will guide groups of 10-15 students, with a co-leader through exciting yet challenging adventure activities, as well as teach the curriculum designed for each of our trip types: Discovery Adventures, Explorer Adventures, High Trails Adventures, and Gap Semester Programs. The trips are both mentally and physically challenging for leaders and participants, with adventures ranging from one to ten weeks in duration.

Wilderness Adventures seeks leaders who will be a positive influence on the participants, an inspirational role model, devoted to supporting student growth and education throughout the trip and creating a fun, safe environment in which every student can thrive. Our leaders and students participate in a wide variety of activities such as: mountain climbing, backpacking in over 30 National Parks and wilderness areas, rock climbing, sea kayaking, whitewater rafting and kayaking, ice climbing, canyoneering, sailing, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, trekking through Europe’s hut system, international and domestic service projects, and language programs. Experience in these activities is helpful, but not required.
What You’ll Do
Backcountry Living & Outdoor Skills
• Lead multi-day backpacking trips in remote wilderness areas

• Teach essential outdoor skills: campsite setup, cooking, food storage, and outdoor hygiene

• Live, eat, and sleep outside with students for the duration of each trip

• Practice and teach Leave No Trace principles every day
Youth Leadership & Mentorship
• Supervise and mentor kids in outdoor and backcountry environments

• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive group culture

• Help manage group dynamics, challenges, and daily routines

About the Role
Sea Kayak Specialists have the unique opportunity to work with many different groups. In this position groups travel to you and you take them out on three to seven-day backcountry sea kayaking excursions. This is a very limited position. If you are interested and have extended non-motorized boat experience, this is the job for you!

About the Role
The Fly Fishing Trip Leader is a hands-on, adventure-based leadership position for college-aged outdoor enthusiasts who love fly fishing, backpacking, and working with kids. Leaders run 2–3 two-week backcountry fly fishing expeditions throughout eh summer.
You’ll teach kids how to fly fish, live outdoors, and responsibly explore wild places—while hiking, fishing, cooking, and camping together in remote backcountry settings. This is a physically active, immersive role best suited for leaders who are excited to spend extended time outside, mentor youth, and build leadership skills.
What You’ll Do
Fly Fishing Instruction
• Teach fly fishing basics and intermediate skills, including casting, presentation, and fish handling

Camp New Fork
Climbing and Challenge Course Lead

Position Overview
The Challenge Course Lead is responsible for planning, leading, and supervising all challenge course activities at Camp New Fork, including our climbing wall, zipline, low ropes and/or outdoor rock sites. This individual ensures that all challenge course programs are conducted safely, skillfully, and in alignment with camp policies and industry standards. Additionally, as a lead, this role is expected to support counseling staff by mentoring and encouraging them through day to day activities (ie camp games and events). 
The ideal candidate has a passion for climbing, strong technical skills, and the ability to inspire and instruct campers and counselors of varying experience levels in a fun and encouraging way.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead daily climbing and ziplining sessions and instruction for campers, staff, and user groups. 

• Conduct a daily pre-use inspection of challenge course equipment (hardware, ropes, harnesses, helmets, etc.) and environment

• Maintain and clear gear.

• Conduct safety briefings and ensure all participants and belayers follow proper procedures.

• Train staff on basic climbing wall facilitation.

• Teach basic climbing techniques, knot tying, and belaying skills appropriate to camper’s age and ability.

• Supervise and assist participants and counselors during challenge course activities, ensuring a safe and positive experience.

• Maintain accurate equipment and inspection logs and incident reports as needed.

• Uphold all camp and challenge course safety standards and emergency procedures.

• Promote teamwork, confidence, and personal growth through all camp experiences.

• Mentor, encourage and support all counseling staff.

• Flexibility to participate and lead other camp activities, such as camp games, events or campfires.
Qualifications
• Minimum age: 19 years old.

• Prior climbing experience required; instructor or guiding experience preferred.

• Knowledge of belay systems, knots, harness use, and climbing safety protocols.

• Current First Aid and CPR certification (Wilderness First Aid preferred).
