The Elizabeth Inn & Restaurant

Move to Western Maine and enjoy the peaceful, smalltown vibes while working in a quaint, upscale dining restaurant with a great team.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Chef to produce creative, fresh and most important, delicious plates!  This position can be seasonal (May-October/December-April) or year round!  

Responsibilities 

• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
• Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements

• Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
• Ability to work on your feet for full shift (sometimes 10 hours)
• Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
• A team player with good communication skills
• Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure

About The Elizabeth Inn & Restaurant 

The inn has been a landmark building in the town since it was built in 1895 as a family home.  Throughout the years and owners it has been turned into a beautiful inn with 14 rooms (4 are suites) and restaurant.  The current owners come here from Bar Harbor with over 25 years of restaurant experience, the most notable restaurant being Havana!  We have an extensive wine menu and a bar that creates great, original cocktails.  Last fall an outdoor patio was added on and we are currently putting the finishing touches to an outdoor bar and potentially outdoor cooking area. 

The Employee Experience 

Located in Western Maine we have an abundance of local farms to source ingredients (and get to know the local farmers)!  We are a small team - BOH is usually 3-4 people and FOH is 3-4 so getting along and working well with others is crucial.  Premeal is always encouraged and appreciated by the staff while offering the opportunity to go over menu additions, notes and anything else the staff might need to know.  Staff do receive a great company wide discount across the restaurant group too!

Room and Board

We have an employee house that is affordable and comfortable.  Private bedrooms available with shared living spaces.  A bed is provided along with basic furniture in the house.  It is within walking distance to the inn, restaurants, bars, grocery store. bowling alley, movie theater and more. Bethel is very bike friendly but if you have a car and want to venture further, we recommend bringing it!  Housing is not pet friendly.

For Fun 

Western Maine is full of hiking, biking, skiing, waterfalls, fishing, skiing and more!  If you enjoy the outdoors, this is paradise.  Maine in general has so much to offer an outdoor enthusiast; Portland is within 1.5 hours, North Conway, NH is 1 hour.  Bethel is home to a world renowned Gem and Mineral Museum, located a couple blocks away!  We also have a weekly farmers market.
