Teton Valley Ranch Camp

Grand Teton Mountain Range

The Mountains are Calling!

Teton Valley Ranch Camp is a non-profit residential summer camp with an extensive backcountry trips program. 135 boy campers join us for the first half of the summer, followed by 135 girl campers, all between the ages of 11 and 16.

The property is located an hour East of Grand Teton National Park and we run backcountry trips in Bridger-Teton, Shoshone, and Caribou-Targhee National Forests, as well as Grand Teton National Park.

About Teton Valley Ranch Camp

Campers participate in many traditional camp program activities (e.g. fly fishing, target sports, craft-shop, nature discovery), with special emphasis on western heritage, western adventure, and western horseback riding. All of our campers also participate in our backcountry trips program. We operate in the Bridger-Teton, Shoshone, and Caribou-Targhee National Forests, as well as Grand Teton National Park. Our western adventure based backcountry trips program includes day hikes, overnight trips, and multi-day backpacking treks lasting 3 to 6 days.

Our western heritage based backcountry trips program includes multiday horse pack trips with Wyoming outfitters lasting 4 to 5 days. Teton Valley Ranch Camp is steeped in 80 years of tradition, going back to 1939 when it was founded. Teton Valley Ranch Camp staff are educators, uniquely positioned to share their knowledge and passion for the outdoors with campers and staff alike. Working for Teton Valley Ranch Camp is such an amazing opportunity to make a significant impact on lives and future leaders through the outdoors and the unique and tight-knit community we create.

Our staff is a family and the ties you will feel to the Tetons and to camp will last a lifetime.

The Employee Experience

At Teton Valley Ranch Camp we believe in living life beyond the edges of our comfort zone. We believe in striving toward our best selves and always reaching for our potential. We believe in friendships forged in challenging times, and strengthened in times of supportive reflection, and old fashion playful fun! We believe in unplugging from technology and plugging into the present moment. We believe in the importance of community, and the responsibility and contributions of each individual.

We believe in the power of our traditions of Western Heritage and Western Adventure, as guideposts that lead us towards strengthening positive values like a strong work ethic, an abiding sense of gratitude, and a deep love and respect for the natural world. We believe in inspiring the strength to lead and the faith to follow, so that each camper is prepared to meet the challenges they face in their everyday lives with courage and resilience.

Our staff member's development is important to us and we strive to help them grow in achieving both personal and professional goals.

Ideal Candidate

We seek hardworking staff that first and foremost have the camper experience in mind. We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful nature in the United States and arguably the world. We want our staff to be passionate about camp and the outdoors and to share this with the campers. The staff that return year after year grow as professionals and also grow as humans. Enthusiasm and positivity are vital for our staff and we strive to foster the foundation of a community that sticks by each other throughout the years, long past their time working with us.

We want our staff to embody the values that we hope to foster in our campers. We emphasize these value outcomes at Teton Valley Ranch Camp:

  • Inspiration
  • Mastery
  • Tenacity
  • Compassion
  • Gratitude
  • Identity

Room and Board

Room and board for the entire Summer Season is provided. Cabin Counselors live in the cabins with campers  (typically 8-12 campers and 2 counselors), while all other staff share a number of staff cabins. The cabins have areas to hang/keep clothes and store gear. All beds are twin beds or twin bunk beds, typical for the camp environment. Many cabins have their own bathroom attached, but the few that do not share a bathhouse. All bathroom and bathhouses have hot running water. Please reach out and let us know if shared accommodation is an issue for you, we are willing to work with you to make other arrangements.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all provided in our dining hall and we can accommodate dietary restrictions. On staff days off throughout the summer, you do have the option of staying on the camp property where room and board is included; however, if you choose to leave and go explore (which we encourage!) then Teton Valley Ranch Camp is not responsible for covering the costs of eating out or accommodation in your time off.

We also provide a washer and dryer for staff. Staff members can do their laundry in our laundry room, after camper laundry is complete, during the off hours: 5pm-8am the following morning.

Employee Perks

1. Pro Deals and Discounts (i.e. Experticity, Chacos, Outdoor Prolink and many more)

2. Discount at our on-camp Trading Post (TVRC gear, water bottles, snacks, clothing, etc.)

3. Returning Staff Bonus

4. Internship Opportunities!

Getting Here and Getting Around

Teton Valley Ranch Camp provides transportation from the airport in Jackson, WY (JAC) if you are coming in via the air. We will provide a $500 travel stipend to help with flights or gas/mileage. Each year there is a large group of staff that flies and group that drives out to the ranch so that they can have their own vehicle. Camp does not provide transportation for staff during their time off. However, multiple staff members have time off on a given day and we will have a list posted in the office, so you can coordinate your time with others.

We highly suggest you drive/carpool to camp to provide increased flexibility and adventures for yourself! Time off is an amazing opportunity to get out and explore the absolutely incredible nature that surrounds us at camp. Traditionally, it's never been a problem for those without cars, staff typically spend their time off together and go on lots of wonderful group adventures! The Teton area is an incredible place for mountain biking, so definitely bring your bike out if that is something you are interested in!

For Fun

Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole and the surrounding areas where we work is the ultimate outdoor lover's playground. The following are just a few of the many activities that staff do over the summer: hiking, backpacking, climbing, mountaineering, rafting, mountain biking, Jackson Hole Live (Summer outdoor concert series), wildlife watching, swimming/floating down the river, camping at Shadow Mountain, horseback riding, exploring the town of Jackson Hole, eating amazing food and so much more!
