The 2022 Cruise Ship Season runs from the start of May thru early October. While ships are in port, our town will be swarming with tourists and we are looking for professional and motivated team members to provide the best experience!

If offered employment, you will be expected to arrive in Skagway in late April; exact dates will be determined by your hiring manager.

All positions will be expected to have the State of Alaska Food Handler's Permit.  All Front of House employees will be expected to have Alcohol Server Certification compliant with the State of Alaska - this means all Front of House employees must be 21+ years old. 

All employees will be required to be vaccinated for Covid-19. Upon arrival it is expected that employees will be fully vaccinated or at least have received the first round of vaccination. The second vaccination round is available through the Dahl Memorial Clinic in Skagway; make arrangements accordingly.

At this time we are not authorized to hire H2B Visas. 

  • Dishwasher

    Skagway Brewing Co. & The Smokehouse
    Skagway

    $15-18/hour (depending on experience) + tips

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Stack and sort dirtied dining, glass and kitchenware
    • Load/unload dishwashing machine
    • Refill cleaning agents as needed
    • Follow dishpit/disposal rules
    • Properly organize and store kitchen dishes in correct locations
    • Follow written/verbal instructions
    • Perform opening/closing procedures as assigned
    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures
    • Assist with portion prep work for other shifts when needed
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, dish pit and food storage areas, reporting any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
    • Follow safety guidelines and use caution in proper lifting techniques, handling knives and operating machinery
    • Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor
    • Demonstrate a high level of professional attitude towards co-workers and general public
    • Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
    • Efficient time management
    • Adhere to company handbook policies

    Qualifications/Skills Required

    • Experience in cooking and kitchen administration in a high-volume, fast-paced establishment preferred
    • Knowledge of cooking procedures, kitchen equipment and safety rules for kitchen and equipment
    • Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
    • Professional appearance
    • Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
    • Efficient at multitasking
    • Must be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
    • Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing demands
    • Ability to maintain composure under stress
    • Respectful and hard-working
    • Team player: Ability to work well with all managers and co-workers
    • Able to do repetitive work, withstand hot temperatures, stand for long periods
    • Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
    • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds at a time on a regular basis

  • Prep Cook

    $17-22/hour (depending on experience) + tips

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Prepare basic components of each dish on menu using our proven recipes
    • Memorize and employ our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures
    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures – all phases of food production and service including storage, rotation, preparation, recipe adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence.
    • Evaluate finished products for appearance, taste, smell and texture according to internal specifications
    • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant
    • Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned, including cleaning cutting boards, equipment and floors
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, cooking areas, individual station, kitchen equipment and food storage areas, reporting any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
    • Follow safety guidelines and use caution in proper lifting techniques, handling knives and operating machinery
    • Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor

    $19-22/hour (depending on experience) + tips + opportunities for OT!

    *Can provide an advance to assist in travel expenses to Skagway, to be reimbursed over the course of the summer. 

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures – all phases of food production and service including storage, rotation, preparation, recipe adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence
    • Evaluate finished products for appearance, taste, smell and texture according to internal specifications
    • Work with team of cooks to do portion prep work for other shifts when needed
    • Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned, including cleaning cutting boards, fryers, grills, equipment and floors
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, cooking areas, individual station, kitchen equipment and food storage areas, reporting any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
    • Follow safety guidelines and use caution in proper lifting techniques, handling knives and operating machinery
    • Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor
