The 2022 Cruise Ship Season is expected to run from the start of May thru early October. While our town won't be swarming with the normal high tourist numbers, we will be receiving a healthy dose of tourism and are looking for professional and motivated team members to provide the best experience!

If offered employment, you will be expected to arrive in Skagway in late April/early May; exact dates will be determined by your hiring manager.

All positions will be expected to have the State of Alaska Food Handler's Permit.  All Front of House employees will be expected to have Alcohol Server Certification compliant with the State of Alaska - this means all Front of House employees must be 21+ years old. 

All employees will be required to be vaccinated for Covid-19. Upon arrival it is expected that employees will be fully vaccinated or at least have received the first round of vaccination. The second vaccination round is available through the Dahl Memorial Clinic in Skagway; make arrangements accordingly.

At this time we are not authorized to hire H2B Visas.

    • Prepare basic components of each dish on menu using our proven recipes
    • Memorize and employ our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures
    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures – all phases of food production and service including storage, rotation, preparation, recipe adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence.
    • Evaluate finished products for appearance, taste, smell and texture according to internal specifications
    • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant
    • Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned, including cleaning cutting boards, equipment and floors

  • Sous Chef

    $26,000.00 / season

    Job Summary

    The Skagway Brewing Company is seeking an experienced, creative and enthusiastic Sous Chef.  The Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting with the overall daily operations of the kitchen at The Skagway Brewing Company.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Adhere to SBC’s handbook policies
    • Assist in all training and implementation of SBC procedures
    • Oversee the work of all kitchen personnel, ensuring DEC regulations and Executive Chef’s code of standards for consistency and quality are met
    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures – all phases of food production and service including storage, rotation, preparation, recipe adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence
    • Assist in maintaining proper food and labor cost
    • Assist with inventory management and food ordering
    • Assist with all catered events

    Pay

    The salary for this 26 week contract is $26-28k (April - early October).

    Hours

    This is a seasonal position running, early April - early October, with the expectation of working

    45-50 hours/week.
