The 2023 Cruise Ship Season runs from the end of April thru early October. While ships are in port, our town will be swarming with tourists and we are looking for professional and motivated team members to provide the best experience!

If offered employment, you will be expected to arrive in Skagway in late April; exact dates will be determined by your hiring manager.

All positions will be expected to have or obtain the State of Alaska Food Handler's Permit.  All Servers and Bartenders will be expected to have or obtain Alcohol Server Certification compliant with the State of Alaska - this means all servers and bartenders must be 21+ years old. 

At this time we are not authorized to hire H2B Visas. 

  • Line Cook

    $17.00 - $24.00 / hour + tips

    $17-24/hour (depending on experience) + tips + opportunities for OT!

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Prep and maintain a stocked station
    • Prepare each dish on our menu using our proven recipes
    • Memorize and employ our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures
    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures – all phases of food production and service including storage, rotation, preparation, recipe adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence
    • Evaluate finished products for appearance, taste, smell and texture according to internal specifications
    • Work with team of cooks to do portion prep work for other shifts when needed
    • Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned, including cleaning cutting boards, fryers, grills, equipment and floors
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, cooking areas, individual station, kitchen equipment and food storage areas, reporting any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
    • Follow safety guidelines and use caution in proper lifting techniques, handling knives and operating machinery
    • Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor
    • Demonstrate a high level of professional attitude towards co-workers and general public
    • Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
    • Efficient time management
    • Adhere to company handbook policies

    Qualifications/Skills Required

    • 3+ years experience in cooking in a high-volume, fast-paced establishment preferred
    • Knowledge of cooking procedures, kitchen equipment and safety rules for kitchen and equipment
    • Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
    • Professional appearance
    • Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
    • Efficient at multitasking
    • Must be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
    • Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing demands
    • Ability to maintain composure under stress
    • Respectful and hard-working
    • Team player: Ability to work well with all managers and co-workers
    • Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
    • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time on a regular basis
    • Obtain a State of Alaska Food Handler’s Card

     

  • Counter Server

    $15.00 - $18.00 / hour + tips

    Job Summary (Counter Server: Full Time, Seasonal)

    • Counter Servers make up the entire Front of House, showing efficiency in taking customer orders, delivering food and drink, and cleaning and prepping tables after guests are finished; all while displaying impeccable customer service and composure.
    • This is a seasonal position running late April through late September.
    • Resume and 3 professional references required at application.

     Duties & Responsibilities

    • Take custumers orders
    • Collect cash and credit card payments
    • Maintain a welcoming presence along with a friendly and courteous attitude….smile!
    • Provide information to guests upon request
    • In-depth knowledge of all food items and beverage menus
    • Make and pour drinks
    • Deliver food to tables
    • Bus and clean tables
    • Maintain our high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout restaurant
    • Maintain FOH stock levels (cooler items, dry goods, condiments etc)
    • Help with cleaning dishes using a triple sink set up and a mechanical dishwasher
    • Run sales report and balance drawer at end of day
    • Efficient time management
    • Effectively communicate in a concise and respectful manner
    • Adhere to company handbook policies

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years experience, preferably in a restaurant, but open to same amount of time in retail job
    • 21+ years old
    • Possess strong communication and customer service skills
    • Clean and neat appearance
    • Exhibit amicable, engaging and approachable demeanor
    • Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
    • Efficient at multitasking
    • Must be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
    • Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing demands
    • Ability to maintain composure under stress
    • Team player: Ability to work well with all managers and co-workers
    • Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
    • Ability to lift large boxes, weighing 35+ lbs

    Job Summary (Line/Prep Cook: Full Time, Seasonal)

    • The Line/Prep Cook is an important team player, responsible for preparing all menu items in an efficient manner while maintaining quality, cleanliness standards and effective communication. 
    • This is a seasonal position running late April/early May through mid September.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Prepare basic components of each dish on menu using our proven recipes
    • Memorize and employ our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures
    • Maintain and follow proper food handling, safety and sanitation procedures – all phases of food production and service including storage, rotation, preparation, recipe adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence.
    • Evaluate finished products for appearance, taste, smell and texture according to internal specifications
    • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant
    • Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned, including cleaning cutting boards, equipment and floors
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, cooking areas, individual station, kitchen equipment and food storage areas, reporting any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
    • Follow safety guidelines and use caution in proper lifting techniques, handling knives and operating machinery
