Our Jobs

Our three month positions will run June 2nd (the start of staff orientation) through August 25th (the final day of the summer season). Our full guest season runs May 1st - mid-October, and we have work available as early as mid-April, and as late as November 1.

If you have interest in a particular area but don't see a position listed - perhaps you are interested in our dining program, or love working with kids - let us know, as we may have a position come available after you have applied. 

  • (Entry Level) Grounds & Maintenance

    Emigrant, Montana

    Responsible for the upkeep of lawns, buildings, swimming pool, occasional dishwashing, and the transportation of our guests in 14 passenger vans. Must be 21, have a clean driving record, and be comfortable with and able to operate heavy mowing equipment and other machinery. 4 – 6 month positions available. June 3 to August 26 at minimum, with a start date as early as May 1 and an end date as late as October 31. Preference given for full season availability.

  • (Entry Level) Guest Services

    Emigrant, Montana

    The ultimate variety job! The largest workforce on the ranch, this 25 person crew rotates through our dining room, housekeeping department and kids program on a shift-to-shift basis, with one dishwashing shift per week. Depending upon interest and skill set, an additional shift or two per week might be spent leading hikes, transporting guests in passenger vans, working in the gift shop, helping with landscaping, and more. 3 – 6 month positions available.   • Challenge Course – Base Camp Operation Coordinator

    AMB West Philanthropies
    Emigrant, Montana

    This position is an integral part of the operations of AMB West Challenge Course and Basecamp. The primary role is facilitation of the Challenge Course and over site of Basecamp facilities. (see Challenge Course Community Facilitator position for more details on program delivery). 

    Candidate must be self-motivated, great communicator with a willingness to work independently. The ideal candidate has background in facilitation and program delivery to a variety of age groups. Other helpful areas of experience include housekeeping, basic maintenance, first aid, risk analysis, guiding.

    Site specific, Level 1 Challenge Course Training and Certification provided on cite.

    Minimum availability early May through mid-October. Housing and Shift Meals available

  • Bar Manager

    This position will manage the Mountain Sky Saloon, which includes general bartending duties pre- and post-dinner, providing wine and cocktail service during dinner, cleaning, inventory, and assisting with dinner service. Must be available to work our full season. Related experience is a must.

  • Challenge Course Community Facilitator

    AMB West Base Camp & Challenge Course

    Position is responsible for working with the team to customize and deliver programming for Mountain Sky Guest Ranch, West Creek Ranch and non-profit organizations operating youth-based outdoor leadership and natural resource conservation groups across the state of Montana. Our guests are varied in age and purpose; youth, board members, program staff, and executive groups from across the nation join us to absorb the benefits of play in the outdoors.

    As part of our team you will enhance your facilitation skills in these areas and more:

    • Technical competence for 4 different belay systems
    • Inspection and Maintenance of Challenge Course
    • Basic and potentially beyond basic rescue techniques
    • Proper spotting
    • Conceptual and Intentional facilitation skills
    • Certification by Professional Vendor Member (PVM) of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT)
    • CPR/First Aid
    • Site specific, Level 1 Challenge Course Training and Certification provided on cite.

  • Fly-Fishing & Clay Shooting Instructor

    Emigrant, Montana

    Seeking an individual with experience and knowledge in fly fishing instruction and sporting clays.

    Fishing duties include teaching lessons at our trout pond twice weekly, guiding up to 4 wading trips per week on nearby Big Creek, and maintaining upkeep and care of equipment. Extensive fly fishing experience is required and knowledge of instruction is a plus. 

    Clay shooting responsibilities include instructing and facilitating our guests with shooting, coordinating groups to and from the shooting area, and ensuring the course and guns are maintained and functioning properly. While this position does not require experience running a clay shooting course, applicants should have extensive experience with shotguns. 

    Along with the fishing and clays duties, this position will be combined with other suitable shifts for a full work week depending on skills and experience. Possible responsibilities include facilities management, grounds keeping, wrangling, bar tending, hiking guide, and transportation. We will work with a qualified applicant to find areas of interest and experience for this individual.

  • Guest Services with Teen Program focus

    Emigrant, Montana

    This hybrid position combines work in Guest Services with oversight of our Teen Program. Works directly with the Kids Program Director to engage and entertain our teen guests, ages 13+, with adventures including - but not limited to - photo scavenger hunts, trips to the Boiling River in Yellowstone, high adventure on our ropes course, evenings at our clay shooting range, and more! Must be 21 or older with a clean driving record to transport participants to various off-site activities in large passenger vans. Prior experience working with this age group is preferred, and strong consideration is given to applicants with climbing and/or high ropes course experience. May 22 to August 26 at minimum, with a start date as early as April 1 and an end date as late as October 31.

  • Ranch Hand

    3-7 MONTH EMPLOYMENT AVAILABLE. Candidate must have strong work ethic, self-motivated, detail oriented and willingness to work a varied work schedule based on time of year. Looking for someone mechanically inclined with experience working with livestock operations, knowledgeable with irrigation systems including hand line and wheel line, able to ride horseback in mountainous areas, and ability to successfully maneuver haying equipment including but not limited to tractor, baler, cutter, hay bine and hauler. Additional responsibilities include building, welding and repairing of fences, caring for livestock, monitoring grass/range health, maintenance of ATV’s, truck and ranch equipment.

  • Wrangler

    Emigrant, Montana

    The ideal wrangler candidate will demonstrate both excellent customer service and strong horsemanship skills. Wranglers will lead rides on 17,000 private acres, in addition to the neighboring Gallatin National Forest. Trail rides aren’t your typical nose-to-tail walking dude rides; Our guests stay for a week at a time, and they come to ride! We lead walk, trot, and lope rides, all with a heavy instruction component. A riding video will be required from applicants not able to join us for a live riding interview, but it is not necessary to submit the video with your initial application. 3 – 7 month positions available. May 15 to August 26 at minimum, with a start date as early as April 1 and an end date as late as October 31.
