Pursue your professional career at Crater Lake this summer!!
- summer
Thousands of years ago, the caldera of Crater Lake was formed from a series of volcanic eruption. After becoming a national park in 1902, Crater Lake Lodge was built in 1915 to provide overnight accommodations to visitors of the southwest rim of Crater Lake National Park. Today, the lodge still welcomes visitors from all over the world!
Our operations are on the rim of the crater, overlooking Crater Lake and surrounded by mountains in southern Oregon.

Seasonal Chef Manager at Crater Lake Lodge
Come work, live, play, & cook up some fun at the iconic Crater Lake National Park!
Come enjoy working at Crater Lake National Park, a place where you can experience diverse wilderness in a setting of breathtaking beauty. Perched high in the Cascade Mountains, Crater Lake’s stunning setting and unique topography make it an awe-inspiring place for you to explore.
More than 7,000 years ago, a fierce eruption shook the 12,000-foot-tall Mount Mazama, triggering the mountain's collapse. The Klamath tribes of the area witnessed the volcano's eruption, and their histories include many stories about how Crater Lake and its features were created. At 1,943 feet, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States. That depth, combined with the water’s purity, gives the lake its remarkable deep blue color.
We offer you the opportunity to meet and work with people from around the world with the great outdoors in your backyard. Whether you choose to fill your free time with hiking, biking, fishing, snowshoeing, skiing, or other employee activities, Crater Lake National Park offers an unforgettable experience.

In the winter months, we operate with a skeleton crew. While this means a smaller staff and a slower season, there's still plenty of space for you to enjoy!
Because we're rooted in service, we do great things for our people, our partners, our community, and our planet. We empower people to create experiences that matter. If you're a self-starter with a strong work ethic who loves to help others, you'll fit right in.
Great teammates are team players who recognize each role is important and help where needed. We're all about teamwork and rooted in a strong, safety culture, so you'll need to be responsible, outgoing, and guest-oriented. Prior experience isn't the most important thing here; we're looking for great people with outstanding customer service skills and an inspired spirit of adventure.
We provide three dormitory-style buildings with two to four occupants per room. Two dorms have individual or two rooms sharing an adjoining bathroom. The third building is traditional with communal gender-separated bath facilities. Dorm rooms are generally assigned geographically (within the park) according to your work location. Please be prepared to share bedrooms and bathrooms with other employees. Crater Lake Hospitality provides the mattress, bed frame, and a cabinet to lock personal items in. Employees are asked to provide their own climate-appropriate bedding. Please plan appropriately.
During the summer months, we also have limited RV spaces available.
We have two employee dining rooms and offer discounts at the food operations in the park. We also offer community kitchens for those who prefer to cook for themselves. We have a gym, laundry facility, and community space located in both dorm areas. Amenities vary based on your location in the park.
During the winter months, team members will get a private room. This will change into the warmer months.
Rent is $8.50/day and is payroll deducted.
Living at Crater Lake is an unforgettable experience. The perks are even better! Here are some convenient deals and activities we have to offer for our amazing team members:
All of this, along with endless sightseeing in the spring and summer and snow adventures in the winter, create a once-in-a-lifetime work environment!
If travel by air, you'll need to fly into Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport (MFR). We will coordinate an employee shuttle from Medford to Crater Lake. We may not be able to pick you up immediately from the airport, so you may have to stay in a Medford-area hotel for the evening.
Public transportation is extremely limited to and from Klamath Falls via Amtrak shuttle, which operates late June through early October.
Employees are also welcome to drive to the park, but please note that parking can be limited in guest areas during the summer season. We will have an employee shuttle that runs from Mazama Village to Rim Village, but we encourage associates to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and walk to and from work.
*Cell reception in the park and surrounding areas is limited. Be sure to carry a map or GPS.
Be aware that the park's North Entrance is closed for about 7 months each year. It closes on November 1 (or earlier, if there is significant snowfall). It opens sometime between mid-May and late June. The park's South Entrance and West Entrance are open year-round.
Make sure to register with the Housing Department if you plan to bring your own vehicle.
While you can expect to be working hard in a busy environment, there is endless entertainment for everyone outside of work. The same grounds you work in are the same ones where you get to experience all the fun under the sun! Picture some of these activities surrounded by a luxurious forest blanketed in white snow.
Create the season of your dreams with all this and more! Winter may come to an end but the thrill continues in the Spring as the snow melts and gives way for Summer. If you fall in love with Crater Lake, stay through the Fall to experience all four seasons!
