COPE is the Boy Scouts high and low ropes program. It stands for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience. COPE and climbing are unique opportunities most Scouts only get at camp. A good COPE and Climbing Director will have not only the technical skills and knowledge but also offer the guidance and coaching necessary for the Scouts to succeed.

The COPE and Climbing Director must be at least 21 years old and successfully complete the National Camp School classes required. They will supervise, train, and motivate the climbing staff so that a safety orientated atmosphere is natural and fun. Like all area directors, maintaining organized paperwork will be just as important as an organized area. Participating in the other camp-wide programs that make summer camp unique, like meal-time activities and campfires, will also be required.

Camp Bowers is located in White Oak NC. Applicants who have already have a current National Camp School certification will not need to report until Sunday, June 9th.
