Our Jobs

Camp Summit hires seasonal staff for each summer and fall season to fulfill a safe ratio of two campers to every one counselor. Most staff members live in the cabins with the campers during their one-week stay.

Many of our staff are college students pursuing fields of human interest. We also work with international agencies to recruit personnel from all over the world. Benefits include salary, room and board, laundry facilities, and the experience of a lifetime!​

  • Activity Director - Archery

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    The activity director must be willing to implement creative and engaging archery activities that are appropriate for each camper’s specific needs. Supervise counselors and be willing to teach and educate them on safety procedures. Assist in the management and care of the equipment and maintain a clean working environment.  Certification is not required, but experience is heavily preferred. If no experience or certification, must be willing to obtain one upon hire.

  • Activity Director - Arts and Crafts

    Paradise

    Responsible for the planning and leading of activities pertaining to arts and crafts. Activities should be with the focus of teaching our campers about colors, textures, creative expression, and other artistic concepts. We are looking for a creative individual with experience leading a large group through projects and can communicate instruction effectively.

  • Activity Director - Music

    Responsible for the planning and leading of activities pertaining to music. Activities should be with the focus of teaching our campers about rhythms, beats, tunes, cords, and other musical concepts. We are looking for someone with experience teaching musical concepts to large groups and leading large groups in music.

  • Activity Director - Nature

    Camp Staff

    Responsible for the planning and leading of activities pertaining to nature and the outdoors. Activities should be with the focus of teaching our campers about different types of animals, weather, plants, and other topics of nature. We are looking for a person with experience with the outdoors, wildlife, and nature, ideally that of Texas.

  • Activity Director - Pool (Lifeguard)

    Paradise

    Lifeguards lead and supervise all aquatic activities at the pool. Perform daily and weekly maintenance and cleaning tasks on pool and equipment. Follow established policies and procedures for pool area and assist with the training of camp staff to assist in aquatic procedures. Be willing to create new engaging ideas that will improve the aquatics program at camp all while providing a safe environment. Previous lifeguarding experience strongly preferred and certification is required upon or before hire.

  • Activity Director - Ropes Challenge Course

    Paradise

    Assist in leading, inspecting, and overall care of the high and low ropes courses and equipment. Must be willing to supervise and adhere to all safety precautions and challenges that may arise with both the course and campers. Certification is not required, but experience is heavily preferred. If no experience or certification, must be willing to obtain a training certificate upon hire.

  • Activity Director - Sports and Games

    Responsible for the planning and leading of activities pertaining to sports and exercise. Activities should be with the focus of teaching our campers new games, teamwork, hand and eye coordination, and other physical skills. We are looking for an active individual with experience leading large groups in cooperative games.

  • Activity Director - Wrangler

    Wranglers maintain the care and management of the overall health and well-being of the camp herd. Maintaining clean and safe working areas in the stables, riding area and fences along with maintaining horse tack and equipment. You will work closely with the Assistant Camp Director on reporting any medical needs, treatment, and behavior of horses. This person must be willing to create and fulfill activities that fit the needs of campers with varying disabilities.

  • Cabin Counselor

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    Consistently aids in the daily tasks and routines of campers.  Responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers by working as part of the cabin unit.  Counselors respond to the Unit Leader (UL) and are not required to have experience, but it is preferred.

  • Kitchen Staff

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    Assists the Kitchen Manager, and Head Cook in the preparation and service of meals, while ensuring a safe and sanitary environment in the dining room for our campers and staff. Position is not required to live on camp grounds.

  • Nurse (RN)

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    Oversee health of all campers, staff, and volunteers at camp. Responsibilities include medication administration for campers, routine medical procedures, and first aid. Must be licensed in Texas as a registered nurse.

  • Nursing Student

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    Assist with the health of all campers, staff, and volunteers at camp. Responsibilities include medication administration, routine medical procedures, and first aid under RN supervision. Must have completed at least one semester of nursing school.

  • Photographer

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    The Photographer is responsible for capturing the moments of every campers experience.  They also have a unique role for it is designed to give the opportunity to engage with every single camper across camp and see all activity areas.  Photographers are required to gather pictures of each and every camper and create session slideshows for sale.  They also aid by sending pictures for marketing and donor opportunities.  Experience with digital photography and editing is required.

  • Rover

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    The Rover position is a unique position that gets to see all aspects of camp.  This position is not assigned to any particular group for they are cross trained in order to act as an aid in every activity and across the cabins.  Rovers are flexible and adaptable consistently and have a great desire for service in any area.

  • Unit Leader

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    Leads the cabin and guides in camper care.  They are responsible for cabin schedules and creating a positive working environment for the cabin staff along with a fun and safe environment for the campers.  ULs respond to Support Staff and the Assistant Camp Director.  ULs are highly preferred to have experience in personal care and behavior management.

  • Unit Leader Liason

    Camp Staff
    Paradise

    ULLs oversee the cabin side of camp.  They are responsible for gathering camper data in order to place cabin assignments along with manage cabin/camper paperwork.  There are two ULLs: One for female cabins and one for male cabins.  This position does require more office time than other positions, but are still an aid to cabins.

**COVID-19 Update: Camp Summit has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of camp sessions for 2020. The safety of our campers, families and staff is our number one priority. Given the direction the pandemic has taken this summer, we don't feel we can offer the type of camp experience our campers desire and deserve while following guidelines and maintaining all protocols.
