Room and Board
Most staff (except leadership and support) live with children in cabins. The cabins are comfortable, and all have electricity. Some cabins are bathroom-equipped while others are steps away from shower houses. Some cabins house six campers and one to two counselors while others house six to eighteen campers and three or four staff.
All staff will have six days off during the summer. We want you to be happy and enthusiastic about your work and recognize that time off for a little rest and recreation helps maintain that spirit. Some camp facilities are open to off-duty staff. You can enjoy tennis, basketball, swimming, stand up paddleboarding and many other activities or simply relax in our staff lounge with Cable TV, DVD, Email Room, snack bar, ping pong and foosball.
Getting Here and Getting Around
You are more than welcome to drive to camp. There is a staff parking lot where you will park your vehicle. If you prefer to fly to camp, fly into Portland Maine. We will arrange to have a Laurel South staff member pick you up at the baggage claim area.
When a counselor is not on duty, he/she is free during Rest Hour to relax with friends, nap, read a book, etc. In the evenings, counselors not on duty may leave camp from around 10:00 P.M. until 1:00 A.M. when they must sign in and return to their cabin. For staff not on duty, but choosing not to leave camp, our staff lounge includes a snack bar, ping-pong tables and large screen T.V. with cable and movie options. The lounge also houses computers for staff.
