    Housekeeper / Grounds Steward

    The Housekeeper / Grounds Steward role is a hybrid full-time year round regular hire position that is split between the Clearing Arts and Maintenance teams. Work may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, and requires living on-site in a remote community. The person in this guest-facing role will be supervised by the Clearing Arts Team Coordinator, but will report to the Maintenance Team Coordinator for duties related to groundskeeping.

    Clearing Arts (Housekeeping): The Clearing Arts Team (CAT) is vital to the cleanliness and comfort we provide to our guests.

    Grounds Steward: The Grounds Steward performs semi-skilled work to maintain and beautify the grounds, ensures a safe outdoor environment, and assists with business-critical functions, such as removal of snow and maintenance of roads & paths.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    General

    • Meet weekly minimum hours requirements as described in Breitenbush’s Work Life Agreements. This is currently 35 hours for full time employees, although scheduled hours may be based on the needs of the co-op

    • Live and work collaboratively with teammates, other teams, and fellow community members

    • Proactively seek to solve problems and resolve conflict

    • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions

    Clearing Arts

    • Frequently use cleaning supplies to clean guest accommodations, lodge, bathrooms, showers, pools and tubs

    • Occasionally operate a pressure washer for multiple hours at a time to clean guest soaking facilities

    • Occasionally lift and/or carry cleaning supplies weighing up to 50lbs to restock inventory

    • Occasionally operate a computer to place supplies orders

    • Occasionally lift and/or carry events supplies weighing up to 50lbs to set up for and take down after events

    Grounds Steward

    • Maintain flower beds and lawns, including planting, amending, watering, weeding, soil conditioning, and mulching

    • Implement and manage irrigation, and ensure irrigation systems are working properly

    • Deploy new systems as needed or directed

    • Operate and maintain garden and landscaping equipment

    • Occasionally operate gas and power tools such as string trimmers, lawn mowers, and chainsaws

    • Schedule specialty services such as spring or fall clean up, or other grounds projects 

    • Maintain footpaths and on-property road systems in clear and clean condition

    • Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecured items, etc.

    • Deploy and stock snow supplies and equipment

    • Assist with management and maintenance of compost, recycling, and refuse

    • Assist with pest removal

    • Participate in on-property snow removal plan and on-property snow shoveling

    • Participate in off-property snow removal and operate plow equipment

    • Assist with seasonal care of hydro-electric operation by removing debris in the system

    • Work with the Maintenance TC and other Grounds Stewards to create and implement a regular grounds-maintenance routine

    • Participate in team, department and co-op coordination meetings when requested


     

    Required Qualifications

    General

    • Ability to work constructively within your team(s) and co-op

    • Physical and mental stamina and the ability to frequently stand or move for hours at a time

    • Occasionally move supplies and equipment weighing up to 80lbs

    • Effective communicator; comfortable carrying and operating 2-way radio

    • Strong service ethic

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    Clearing Arts

    • Ability to frequently perform repetitive body movements

    • Ability to work outside in inclement weather for hours at a time

    • Self motivated and accountable

    • Strong communication skills, even in challenging customer service situations

    Grounds Steward

    • Valid Oregon driver’s license

    • Comfortable operating electric and gas power tools, to include chainsaws (training provided)


    Desired Qualifications

    General

    • Interest in worker-owned cooperatives

    Clearing Arts

    • Housekeeping/hospitality experience

    • Experience setting up for and taking down after events

    • Familiarity with using a pressure washer

    Grounds Steward

    • Familiarity with sprinkler systems and other landscaping equipment

    • Ability to safely use and maintain chainsaws up to 20”

    • Tree felling

    • Knowledge of gardening techniques, including companion and succession planting

    • Knowledge of gardening products such as organic compost, fertilizers and natural pest control

    Healing Arts Team

    Year Round & Seasonal LMT/Healing Artist

    $18.81 / hour + tips
    Breitenbush

    Breitenbush Hot Springs is seeking full-time Year-Round & Seasonal LMTs/Healing Artists to join our existing team of bodyworkers. The Healing Arts Team (HAT) at Breitenbush Hot Springs is a small team of experienced Licensed Massage Therapists that are honored to create a peaceful and safe atmosphere for physical and emotional healing, and deep relaxation for guests. The LMTs bring a focused, compassionate awareness to their work and support each other by working together as a team to keep things running smoothly, keeping massage rooms clean, well-stocked and overflowing with a good vibe. This is a full time position.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Offer Swedish relaxation massage appointments.

    • Be able to perform 90 minute massage appointments.

    • Provide a minimum of 12 massages per week = full time.

    • Maintain a clean and well stocked healing sanctuary in the massage rooms, as well as caring for the laundry room and storage spaces.

    • Contribute to weekly laundry duties, and deep cleaning of the massage rooms.

    • Effective communication with HAT and Office team.

    • Support other teams, as/when needed.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Current Oregon massage license and liability insurance.

    • Minimum 6 months full time professional massage experience, or 1 year part time.

    • Must offer Swedish/Relaxation massage, though additional modalities are welcome.

    • Strong ability to hold space for clients and be trauma- informed in your approach to massage.

    • Must be able to perform a minimum of twelve 90-minute massages each week plus a daily average of an hour of stocking, laundry, cleaning, and teamwork. 

    • Strong work and service ethic, ability to work with a team.

    • Must also be self-directed, reliable, motivated and self-sufficient.

    • Authentic and clear communication skills.

    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

    SYSTEMS Team

    Year-Round & Seasonal Systems Operators

    $15.05 / hour

    Breitenbush Hot Springs is seeking full-time Year-Round & Seasonal Systems Operators to join our existing Systems Team. This team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Breitenbush Hot Springs utilities, including the hydroelectric generator, backup diesel generators, domestic water pumping and filtration plant, geothermal heating systems, mineral water systems and pools, and septic systems.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform daily checks of all systems and maintain desired operating performance within set specifications and regulatory guidelines

    • Gather and record operating performance data

    • Analyze operating data trends to predict preventative maintenance tasks and diagnose system anomalies

    • Maintain compliance records and submit in a timely manner per regulations

    • Thoroughly document all work in Task Management Software (Clickup)

    • Maintain all system components in good working order

    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment

    • Collect samples for compliance and submit in a timely manner per regulations

    • Work in confined spaces

    • Participate in on call program and respond to after hours emergencies

    • Utilize HMI for systems monitoring and control

    • Evaluate and plan and complete repair projects and assemble parts list with costs, to minimize impact to guests and community

    • Participate in seasonal snow removal as needed

    • Participate in team, department and coop coordination meetings 

    • Engage with guests to provide direction and assistance as necessary

    • Live and work collaboratively with teammates, other teams, and fellow community members

    • Proactively seek to solve problems and resolve conflict

    • Ability to work for roughly 8 hours per day, 35-40 hours per week, and on-call as needed.


    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and work in confined spaces

    • Proficient with one or more of the following: water line construction, general construction and/or operation of a water filtration or sewage utility, installing, replacing, repairing and maintaining water mains, valves, pumps, meters and hydrants. design and installation of electrical systems, wiring and controls.

    • Excellent team participation and collaboration

    • Basic computer skills

    • Excellent service ethic

    • Complex systems troubleshooting and problem solving

    • Valid Oregon driver’s license

    • Ability to lift 50lbs

    • Effective communicator

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Must be able to move objects (up to 50lbs) and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue

    • Regular movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina for lifting, squatting, reaching and carrying

    • Must be able to work outdoors in varying and inclement weather conditions


    Desired Qualifications (a qualified candidate doesn't need to possess each of these skills but must have a basic working knowledge or ability to learn with training):

    • Oregon Drinking Water Systems and Operation Certification; Cross Connection Certification; and/or construction experience.

    • Familiarity with systems automation, monitoring and control (SCADA, HMI, PLC, etc.)

    • Familiarity with off grid/alternative energy power generation and distribution.

    • Heavy equipment operation

    • Familiarity with Google Workspace

    • Valid Oregon CDL

    • Proficiency with  task management software (Clickup)

    Kitchen Team

    Year Round & Seasonal Prep/Lead Cooks

    Breitenbush Hot Springs is seeking full-time Year-Round & Seasonal Lead / Prep Cooks to join our existing vegetarian kitchen team. The Lead/Prep Cook position is vital to the success of the food service we provide to our guests. These positions report to the Breitenbush Kitchen Team Coordinators. We are hiring for several positions; seasonal roles could start as soon as April 15th or as late as May 15th, and will last anywhere from late-spring to mid-October. Year-round positions will start immediately. You will be invited to participate in a one-week working interview (paid time) at Breitenbush prior to a job offer.
     

    Prep/Lead Cook Job Responsibilities:

    • Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies

    • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces

    • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.

    • Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage

    • Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces and supplies during shift

    • Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs

    • Serves buffet-style food to guests

    • Washes cooking and serving dishes


    Qualifications

    Prep/Lead Cook Qualifications/Skills:

    • Basic written and verbal communication skills

    • Organizational skills

    • Accuracy and speed in executing tasks

    • Ability to work as a team member

    • Follows directions and instructions

    • One year of experience as a prep cook and/or restaurant worker

    Facilities Department

    General Maintenance Technician

    $15.05 / hour

    The General Maintenance Technician (GMT) is a skilled member of the Maintenance Team under the Breitenbush Facilities Department. The GMT is responsible for maintenance, upkeep and repair of structures, vehicles, appliances, tools and equipment. The GMT also supports set up and takedown for special events and workshop needs, as agreed upon with the Guest Experience Team. The GMT performs routine maintenance, makes scheduled repairs and responds to trouble calls. The GMT may be assigned additional duties such as assisting with project work, grounds, or seasonal change-over tasks. The GMT reports to the Maintenance Team Coordinator.

    This is a full-time, year-round position, starting approximately April 15th.  You will be invited to participate in a one-week paid working Interview at Breitenbush prior to a job offer.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and repair tools, buildings and structures.

    • Upkeep and maintain vehicles and heavy equipment. Schedule and manage major vehicle and equipment repairs.

    • Ensure tools, equipment and& vehicles are kept in proper working condition.

    • Evaluate and plan repair projects and assemble parts list with costs, to minimize impact to guests and community.

    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, conduct work per OSHA standards and Breitenbush Safety Protocols.

    • Participate in snow removal as needed.

    • Participate in team, department and co-op coordination meetings.

    • Engage with guests to provide direction and assistance, as necessary.

    • Work cooperatively with other teams and community members in the facilitation of their respective duties and responsibilities.

    • Must have a valid Oregon driver’s license.

    • Ability to lift 80lbs.
