  • Off-Grid Systems Technician

    Facilities Department

    The Off-grid Systems Technician is a full time employee on the Systems Team. This team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Breitenbush Hot Springs utilities, including the hydroelectric generator, backup diesel generators, domestic water pumping and filtration plant, geothermal heating systems, mineral water systems and pools, and septic systems. 

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform daily checks of all systems and maintain desired operating performance within set specifications and regulatory guidelines
    • Gather and record operating performance data
    • Analyze operating data trends to predict preventative maintenance tasks and diagnose system anomalies
    • Maintain compliance records and submit in a timely manner per regulations
    • Thoroughly document all work in Task Management Software (Clickup)
    • Maintain all system components in good working order
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
    • Collect samples for compliance and submit in a timely manner per regulations
    • Work in confined spaces
    • Participate in on call program and respond to after hours emergencies
    • Utilize HMI for systems monitoring and control
    • Evaluate and plan and complete repair projects and assemble parts list with costs, to minimize impact to guests and community
    • Participate in seasonal snow removal as needed
    • Participate in team, department and coop coordination meetings 
    • Engage with guests to provide direction and assistance as necessary
       

    Required Qualifications:

    • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and work in confined spaces
    • Proficient with one or more of the following: water line construction, general construction and/or operation of a water filtration or sewage utility, installing, replacing, repairing and maintaining water mains, valves, pumps, meters and hydrants. design and installation of electrical systems, wiring and controls.

  • Marketing and Events Director

    Events Team

    The Marketing and Events Director (MED) is one of four Managing Directors of Breitenbush Hot Springs. The MED is responsible for all aspects of marketing, advertising, and development of the Breitenbush brand, which flows from the Credo, Mission Statement, and Land Acknowledgment. The MED is equally responsible for the programming and management of events (workshops, retreats, conferences, and gatherings) at Breitenbush. The MED is responsible for the oversight and management of the Marketing & Events Team and works closely with the Business Director (BD), the Finance Director (FinD), the Facilities Director (FacD), and the Board of Directors (BOD).  The MED reports to the BD, and provides monthly reports to the BOD.  This position, along with the other Managing Directors, is accountable to meeting our projected occupancy numbers and related revenue projections.


    * We will be receiving and reviewing applications through July with a targeted start date of September 1, 2024.

This position is accountable to the responsibilities listed below, and one objective for this position will be to delegate duties and responsibilities throughout the Marketing & Events Team and to others within the cooperative.


    The MED is responsible for effective oversight, management, delegation, and execution in the following areas: 

    Marketing & Advertising:

    A key marketing function is growing the customer base beyond those already familiar with the services Breitenbush provides. An important aspect of this is to achieve greater inclusivity for populations that resonate with our values across a wide set of demographics. The MED has overall responsibility for the quality and content of the Breitenbush brand communications. 

    Marketing & Advertising includes but is not limited to responsibility for the following:

    • Develop and support the execution of a marketing strategy.
    • Conduct market research and identify target demographics.
    • Research consumer demand for products and services.
    • Research and develop strategies to diversify our clientele and create opportunities for marginalized communities to visit Breitenbush.
    • Develop useful market decision-making metrics and key performance indicators to assess trends and evaluate effectiveness.
    • Utilize guest feedback to further improve our marketing strategies.
    • Develop and maintain a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
    • Oversee the designing and production of all on-property signage for guests.
    • Manage the Breitenbush website, including web analytics and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
    • Manage all social media and internet presence, in particular, online review platforms.
    • Manage radio advertising.
    • Publish and distribute Breitenbush printed materials.
    • Curate photography and maintain an organized photo library.
    • Respond to media requests for written content and photography.
    • Review and edit official communications to guests or the general public.
    • Propose rate changes for our services to the BOD in conjunction with the BD and FinD.
    • Support the development and execution of a fundraising strategy with the BOD, BD, and FinD.

    Events:

    Breitenbush Hot Springs hosts workshops, retreats, conferences and gatherings annually.  Events planning includes but is not limited to responsibility for the following:

    • Maintain excellent relations with the faculty of presenters.
    • Negotiate the details of presenter contracts, in conjunction with the FinD.
    • Solicit and evaluate proposals from new presenters.
    • Schedule events that fit with our mission, facilities, market base, and calendar.
    • Stay abreast of current trends in retreat center offerings that align with our values.
    • Ensure that some portion of our events offerings include topics around Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) and the ongoing Climate Crisis.
    • Manage the budget for all events services and marketing, including: labor, supplies, vendors, equipment needs, etc.
    • Oversee the hiring, training and performance reviews of Marketing & Events team members.
    • Work closely with the Marketing & Events Team, consulting on issues as they arise in hosting events.
    • Fill-in as an Event Coordinator when needed.
    • Clearly communicate about event impacts and needs to Guest Services (Office, Clearing Arts, Kitchen, and Healing Arts teams).
    • Maintain the events database and registration platform (Retreat Guru) and all other pertinent records.
    • Manage guest registration pages in the reservation software to ensure a positive guest/presenter experience.
    • Propose annual closed periods to the BOD.

    Guest Services:

    The MED is a liaison with the BD and TCs of guest services. This includes: 

    • Identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience.
    • Collaborate with the Guest Experience Teams in formulating policies, practices, and procedures that affect service and aesthetics, all within the established Breitenbush brand.
    • Address and resolve individual guest service issues, complaints, or guest behavior issues on an as-needed basis.
    • Stay informed, formulating proposals for policies and procedures related to outside agency rules and regulations pertaining to protected classes (e.g. ADA, service animals, discrimination/harassment, etc.).
    • Work with other teams to ensure the guest environment and all guest services meet or exceed Breitenbush standards for quality, service, and aesthetics.
    • Create solutions that increase accessibility for guests from marginalized communities (including but not limited to guests who are disabled, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, aged 60+, children, and guests whose primary language is not English). 

    Incident Management:

    The MED is a standing member of the Incident Management Team and is often called to take a leadership role in coordinating the response to and resolution of an incident.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years relevant experience
    • Marketing and business development experience
    • Event management and programming experience
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
    • Strong computer skills, including G-Suite, social media, CRM databases, and website management
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
    • Proven ability to build and/or lead an effective team
    • Interest in holistic health and education
    • Ability to work at a computer for eight hours/day

    The Healing Arts Team (HAT) at Breitenbush Hot Springs is a small team of experienced Licensed Massage Therapists that are honored to create a peaceful and safe atmosphere for physical and emotional healing, and deep relaxation for guests. The LMTs bring a focused, compassionate awareness to their work and support each other by working together as a team to keep things running smoothly, keeping massage rooms clean, well-stocked and overflowing with a good vibe. This is a full time position.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    - Offer Swedish relaxation massage appointment
    - Be able to perform 90 minute massage appointments

    Breitenbush Hot Springs is seeking a full time, year round Lead/Prep Cook employee & Fill In staff (based on your availability to support special events and "fill in" coverage for kitchen staff taking time off) to join our existing vegetarian kitchen team. The Lead/Prep Cook position is vital to the success of the food service we provide to our guests. This position starts immediately and reports to the Breitenbush Kitchen Team Coordinators.

    Prep/Lead Cook Job Responsibilities:

    • Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies
    • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces
    • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
    • Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage
    • Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces and supplies during shift
    • Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs


    Prep/Lead Cook Qualifications/Skills:

    The Kitchen Team has two Team Coordinators, two individuals working together, jointly accountable for the operation and success of the Breitenbush Hot Springs Kitchen and the effective employment of its team members.

     

    The Kitchen Team Co-Coordinators will concentrate their attention and energy on the Kitchen by:

    • Supervising and directing the Kitchen team

    • Working with the team to build an effective environment for implementing:

      • Smooth and efficient Kitchen operations

      • Bountiful, aesthetically pleasing and cost-effective vegetarian and vegan meals

      • Maintaining a peaceful, pleasant and productive work environment

    • Working with other teams when necessary to coordinate projects and events
       

    Shared Responsibilities
     

    We are hiring for two positions: an Administrative Team Coordinator and an Ordering Team Coordinator. The Team Co-Coordinators will share the following responsibilities:
     

    • Develop plans for continually improving service to our guests including presentation of food, organization of buffet, cleanliness of the Dining Room, and more.

    • Provide weekly reports to the Business Director.

    • Work with the Finance Director on a yearly budget and ensure the food and supply budget are on track.

    • Supervise staff and ensure that all projects meet budgetary and time constraints, as well as business and community needs.

    • Properly document any staff concerns or violations of kitchen processes to personnel and the Business Director.

    • Ensures that Kitchen records (inventory, schedules, invoices, etc.) are maintained.

    • Maintain food safety and proper food storage, sanitation, and safety practices/guidelines.

    • Ascertain the needs of our Kitchen operation and advise the GXD and other departments when support, improvements or repairs are needed.

    • Work with the Business Director and Marketing & Events Director & Event Coordinators on maintaining a long range calendar to facilitate scheduling, hiring, meal planning, purchasing, and ordering.

    • Communicate composting needs to our Maintenance/Grounds team.

    • Conduct weekly Kitchen Team meetings.

    • Lead meals or participate in the daily prep or cleaning tasks of the kitchen several times a week.

    • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Business Director.


     

    Administrative Team Coordinator

     

    The Administrative TC will focus on facilitating personnel management and training. In addition to their shared Co-Coordinator responsibilities and cooking shifts, the Administrative TC will:

     

    • Coordinate recruiting and interviews for new employees and fill-ins.

    • Ensure that Kitchen is adequately staffed, especially during large events.

    • Maintain a working list of fill-ins and temporary help for Kitchen.

    • Ensure all team members are trained to similar standards.

    • Provide effective cross-training for the Kitchen staff so that all jobs can be adequately covered by more than one worker.

    • Oversee weekly staff and staff guest meal sign up procedure.

    • Approve timesheets and interface between team members and Finance to ensure proper recording of hours.

    • Communicate with Office Team as needed to ensure accurate headcounts for meals.

    • Develop training manuals and protocols for Kitchen tasks.

    • Work closely with the Personnel Coordinator to produce honest evaluations of team members and enforcement of disciplinary actions if needed.

    • Communicate with, manage, and keep records for regular and fill-in employees.


     

    Ordering Team Coordinator

     

    The Ordering TC will focus on acquiring, organizing, and managing the food resources necessary for meal service. In addition to their shared Co-Coordinator responsibilities and cooking shifts, the Ordering TC will:

    • Coordinate food purchases and supply of necessary ingredients for meal service.

    • Perform regular inventories in consultation with the Finance Director.

    • Educate Kitchen team members on available ingredients and support them with sourcing for their meal plans.

    • Maintain good working relationships with our vendors and seeks out new vendors as needed.

    • Manage the scheduling of town run and successful execution of necessary supply pick-ups and ordering.

    • Order small equipment and supplies.

    • Keep records of food purchases for accounting purposes.

    • Educate kitchen team members on in season produce to better create sustainable meal plans.



    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience as either Kitchen Manager, Assistant Kitchen Manager, or extensive experience and skills in several of the areas listed below:

    • Supervisory experience of 5 or more employees. 

    • Experience in budgeting, inventory, some computer skills, and scheduling. 

    • Culinary degree and/or equivalent experience desirable. 

    • Must have a current Oregon Food Handlers Card. 

    • Will require ServSafe certification within 1 month of hire.


     

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    • Experience cooking for large groups of people (100+).

    • Knowledge of professional kitchens and their systems.

    • Knowledge of organic food, vegetarian cooking, and efficient use of limited supplies.

    • Skill at managing and reducing the amount of food waste generated by the Kitchen; an ability to effectively use resources and previously prepared food 

    • Knowledge of and adherence to proper food storage and kitchen safety.

    • Strong background in supervising and/or business ownership.

    • Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills.

    • Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people and temperaments.

    • Ability to manage several projects concurrently.

    • Ability to provide co-leadership within a cooperative structure.

    • Ability to develop leadership within the team, and create a working atmosphere where each member is valued for their unique contribution.
