  • Systems Technician

    Facilities

    Systems Technician for Off-Grid Geothermal, Hydroelectric, and Water System at Hot Springs Facility

    The Systems Technician is a member of the Breitenbush Facilities Department, and is accountable for the operation and maintenance of all Breitenbush physical plant systems, including the hydroelectric generator, backup diesel generators, domestic water pumping and filtration plant, geothermal pumping stations, mineral water systems, septic systems, and all associated distribution systems. The Systems Technician reports to the Operations Manager, and may be assigned additional duties such as assisting with project work and light carpentry. 

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform daily checks of all systems and maintain desired operating performance within set specifications and regulatory guidelines
    • Gather and record operating performance data
    • Analyze operating data trends to predict preventative maintenance tasks and diagnose system anomalies
    • Maintain compliance records and submit in a timely manner per regulations
    • Maintain all all system components in good working order
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment conduct work per OSHA standards and Breitenbush Safety Protocols
    • Collect samples for compliance and submit in a timely manner per regulations
    • Work in confined spaces
    • Participate in on call program and respond to after hours emergencies
    • Utilize HMI for systems monitoring and control
    • Evaluate and plan repair projects and assemble parts list with costs, to minimize impact to guests and community
    • Participate in seasonal snow removal as needed
    • Participate in team, department and coop coordination meetings 
    • Engage with guests to provide direction and assistance as necessary

    Required Qualifications:

    • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and work in confined spaces
    • Proficient with one or more of the following: water line construction, general construction and/or operation of a water filtration or sewage utility, installing, replacing, repairing and maintaining water mains, valves, pumps, meters and hydrants. design and installation of electrical systems, wiring and controls.

    • Familiarity with off grid/alternative energy power generation and distribution.

  • Lead Prep Cook

    Kitchen
    Breitenbush
    $12.75 / hour

    Breitenbush Hot Springs is seeking a prep cook employee to join our existing vegetarian kitchen team. This position is vital to the success of the food service we provide to our guests.

    This is a full-time regular hire position that reports to the Breitenbush Guest Experience Director.

    Last September, Breitenbush was severely damaged by wildfires. All of our guest cabins were lost, along with a few other guest facilities. We are in the process of rebuilding and have been slowly opening to guests this summer with fewer amenities than in the past.

    Work is full-time and shift hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    Prep Cook Job Responsibilities:

    • Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies
    • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces
    • Follows direction of and works directly with lead cooks
    • Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage
    • Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces and supplies during shift
    • Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs

    Prep Cook Qualifications/Skills:

    • Basic written and verbal communication skills
    • Organizational skills
    • Accuracy and speed in executing tasks
    • Ability to work as a team member
    • Follows directions and instructions
    • One year of experience as a prep cook and/or restaurant worker

  • Housekeeper

    Hiring year-round positions starting now, and seasonal positions starting as soon as Mid-March or early April 2022.  Seasonal positions will likely end by October 31st (with potential to extend). Work is full-time and shift hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

    We are seeking candidates who live their values around service, self-motivation, and clear, honest communication, and who enjoy physical work, cleaning and providing welcoming spaces for our guests.  

     

    Various tasks include, but are not limited to: 

    • Cleaning guest accommodations, lodge, bathrooms, showers, pools and tubs

  • Carpenter

    Facilities

    We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join us in the rebuild process! As a Carpenter, your main responsibility will be construction and repair of building frameworks and structures such as timber framed coverings over tent camping pads, new soaking areas, and building out a temporary shop space.

    We expect you to have strong attention to details and a very good knowledge of different carpentry materials.

    If you are a hard working person who can easily work alone and in the team when needed, then we are looking for you! This seasonal position starts as soon as January 17th, 2022 and goes through the summer, (with potential to extend). This position reports to the Facilities Superintendent.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ability to follow blueprints and engineering drawings
    • Conduct repairs and maintenance
    • Layout and install stone paver pads, ensure they are leveled and consistent
    • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and doors
    • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
    • Erect, level, and install building framework
    • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures
    • Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers

     

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Up to $18.00/hr, depending on experience
    • 1 week of unpaid vacation

  • Guest Experience Rep

    Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat & Conference Center has immediate openings for full-time year-round work on its guest-facing office team.

    The office team is seeking candidates who embody their values around service, self-motivation and clear, honest communication. Team members assist guests in our gate house, store and with online reservations. Applicants must have excellent customer service and communication skills, computer literacy, great phone presence, cashiering experience, legible handwriting, the ability to multitask efficiently, pay attention to details and work closely with a team. We are looking for candidates who enjoy administrative work. A positive attitude, responsible work ethic and ability to live and work in an off the grid cooperative environment are a must.

  • Personnel Coordinator

    The Personnel Coordinator at Breitenbush is a key position that manages all aspects of human resources for the cooperative.  

    Summary of Major Responsibilities

    • Oversee the Breitenbush Cooperatives hiring processes including recruitment, job postings, and onboarding of new staff.
    • Ensure that personnel practices align with our Handbook of Agreements and applicable State and Federal regulations.
    • Keep abreast of labor law changes.
    • Work with the Business Director (BD) to support teams in following legal practices for: hiring, evaluations, job performance issues, leaves, accidents, benefits, conflict resolution, termination and other employment activities.
    • Oversee the administration of Breitenbush benefits, unemployment and workers compensation programs.
    • Work with the BD to respond to complaints and grievances; follow up with investigations and documentation as needed.
    • Coordinate housing for staff; following Breitenbush policies.
    • Ensure that the Handbook of Agreements, Bylaws and other policy documents are up to date and circulated.
    • Maintain comprehensive and detailed records of employment for all employees.
    • Safety Committee Chair, including calling and managing meetings, maintaining all OSHA required documentation including initial safety training of new staff and tracking of all staff safety training.
    • Participate in the Incident Management Team, as needed.

     

    Required Qualifications

    • 2+ years experience in the field of human resources and/or a Bachelors degree in HR Management, business administration, or similar.
    • Business ownership, business management, and/or administrative assistant experience.
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time on a computer.
    • Willingness to work onsite and be available by phone and radio 40 hours/week and for occasional off-hours emergencies.

     

    Preferred Skills and Knowledge

    • Ability to gain a mastery level understanding of the Handbook of Agreements and operating rules of the co-op.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people and temperaments.
    • Excellent communication skills; friendly, patient and accessible to answer requests and questions, while also diplomatically holding boundaries.
    • Strong computer skills, ideally experience with Paycom or other Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
    • Organizational agility and accuracy with details.
    • Ability to manage several projects concurrently.
    • Self-motivated, able to work independently.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and the highest level of ethical behavior in the midst of a community living setting.
