Activities Facilitator

POSITION SUMMARY:
Activity Facilitators are responsible for leading family-oriented and group programs for members and guests of all ages. This includes sports, archery, outdoor nature activities, mini-golf clubhouse, roller rink, science experiments, climbing wall, games and other family programs. Additionally, Activity Facilitators will assist guests at the program registration desk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible for independently executing programming activities

• Promote and assist in special event weekends and seasonal programming

• Maintain and repair recreation equipment

• Predict, prevent, identify and respond to safety issues

• Use computer system to assist guests in signing up for activities, check out equipment, and check participant rosters

• Lead guided hikes or snowshoe hikes dependent on season

• Assist at the Nordic Center in winter as needed

Why Elevate?
YMCA of the Rockies’ Elevate Gap Program blends paid work with immersive outdoor adventures, team activities, personal workshops and moments of reflection. Compensation & Perks:

• Participants in the Elevate Gap Program are paid seasonal employees of YMCA of the Rockies. Each participant will work at least 32 hours per week, at a paid rate of Colorado minimum wage.

• Elevate participants live on-site in staff dormitories as part of our Rocky Mountain Living Package (RMLP). The RMLP includes shared dormitory rooms, spacious lobbies, three buffet-style meals per day, free wi-fi, access to all staff activities, and more, at a cost of $170 per week (automatically deducted from your paycheck). POSITION SUMMARY: 
This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center, which operates a mission-based family and group conference center with 9 lodges, over 250 family cabins, and 9 reunion cabins. The Housekeeping Manager is primarily responsible for the cleanliness and timely availability of lodge rooms and cabins for guest occupancy, working daily with a team of 40-120 staff (varies by season). The Housekeeping Manager must coordinate with key leadership in the Housekeeping Department and the Director of Operations to plan, schedule, and administer work assignments to successfully achieve this goal. Effective communication between the Housekeeping Department and the Estes Park Center Front Desk is a key component of the Housekeeping Manager’s day-to-day responsibilities.

• Provide strong, motivational leadership to a team of 40-120 members of the Estes Park Center Housekeeping cleaning and industrial laundry staff.  

• Working with direct reports, complete and/or review weekly staffing forecasts and scheduling. 

• Plan daily, weekly, and seasonal cleaning schedules. 

• Working with the Director of Operations, use available short and long-range forecasting tools to assign and advocate for staffing levels sufficient to meet needs based on arrivals, checkouts, change overs, and stay overs. 

• Evaluate daily operations for efficiency and communicate suggestions for improvement to Director of Operations. 

• Interview, hire, set performance standards, supervise, and provide timely performance reviews for direct reports. 

• Provide oversight and direction to full-time and seasonal Crew Leaders, assisting with their supervision of seasonal staff. 

• Use available technology to quickly and efficiently communicate room status changes to the Estes Park Center Front Desk.  

• Ensure accommodation cleaning standards are met by training and using quality control techniques and evaluating performance of full-time, year-round Crew Leaders, seasonal Crew Leaders, and full-time, year-round self-checking housekeepers. 

• Assist with training all new seasonal housekeeping staff in all accommodations, lodge rooms, cabins, and reunion cabins. 

• With the help of Housekeeping leadership staff, complete or assign daily quality inspections. 

• Purchase supplies and equipment within parameters of the Housekeeping budget, and process invoices for those purchases in a timely manner. 

• Ensure all machinery, chemicals, and vehicles are properly operated and maintained.  

• Ensure safe practices and procedures are followed for chemicals, biohazards, and machinery, including the industrial laundry facility. 

• Assist with inspections and cleaning responsibilities as needed, including at times, leading a housekeeping crew. 

• Oversee all Housekeeping cleaning operations. 
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Two years of management experience in the hospitality industry or a related field. 

• Experience in purchasing and inventory management. 

• Experience in creating and evaluating cleaning process to ensure high levels of cleanliness in guest accommodations.  

• Must be extremely organized with a focus on the details. 

• Possess a valid, USA driver license with a driving record that allows for operation of YMCA vehicles. 

• Able to operate YMCA vehicles including vans and trucks in all weather conditions and on variable terrain. 

• Bilingual skills (Spanish) helpful but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities Include:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Nordic Director, the Nordic Center Supervisor trains, schedules, and supervises Nordic Center staff and volunteers in collaboration with the Nordic Director and other Programs Department Staff. The Nordic Center Supervisor will maintain ski lessons schedule, Nordic programming schedule, work with guests and guest groups, communicate with and work with Bryan Mountain Ski Patrol, maintain inventory control, supervise daily shop operations, maintain safety and emergency response, keep Nordic Center clean and organized and assist in preparing for larger Nordic Events as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED administration (training provided if needed).

• Possess an enthusiasm for winter sports, in particular Nordic Skiing development and guest offerings within the Nordic Center and Program Department.

• Able to operate general office equipment including computer, printer, radios, phone.

• Ability to train, schedule, supervise and evaluate Nordic shop staff and instructors.

• Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Nordic Center when the Nordic Director is not present.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Oversee daily operations of Nordic Retail and Rental Center.

• Be accountable for staff activities as well as seasonal fluctuations and schedule staff accordingly.

• Promote a cooperative, positive and problem-solving atmosphere/work environment at all times.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and courteous demeanor toward guests, coworkers, and other staff members. 

• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse and busy environment.

• Ability to teach beginner lessons based on PSIA Level 1 training (training provided if needed). 

• Practical working knowledge of waxing techniques for both classical and skate skis (training provided if needed). 

• Ability to provide clear and accurate technique and waxing advice to guests. 

• Familiarity with the Snow Mountain Ranch trail system and a genuine enthusiasm for Nordic skiing (training provided if needed).
