Position Purpose
The Healthcare Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Nurses in ensuring the health and safety of campers and staff.
All staff members, within their roles, leaders are responsible for supporting campers in developing the friendships, character, skills, and memories that have marked a Takodah experience for nearly a century.
Qualifications
Driver’s license
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Desire to work with children and young adults
Experience in both children and adult illness/injury care desired
Must pass application, reference, and a criminal background checks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Display good character, fun-loving personality, positive attitude, proper appearance, and appropriate sense of humor
Possess a sincere interest in living in a summer camp setting and working with children

Possess strong communication and teamwork skills with a focus on building positive relationships with others
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift/assist campers and staff
Ability to read and follow directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders, and parent letters
Ability to use a telephone and computer
Ability to maintain written record system
Ability to quickly get to remote locations on camp property over uneven terrain
Ability to observe and assess sanitation and safety conditions of the camp
Ability to communicate with parents, staff, and administration about camper health concerns
Possess endurance to meet emergency needs
Ability to drive to off-camp health provider, physician, or emergency treatment locations
Essential Job Functions
Support Nurses in providing healthcare to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers
Support Nurses in organizing, maintaining, and utilizing adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff
Support Nurses in maintaining accurate and detailed medical records according to NH and American Camp Association Standards
Support Nurses in overseeing First Aid procedures and supplies
Support Nurses in leading a staff orientation session on medical services
Support Nurses in overseeing the screening of all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp
Support Nurses in supervising sanitary conditions throughout camp
Relationships
In addition to working closely with the Nurses, Healthcare Assistants are expected to maintain positive working relationships with campers, cabin leaders, kitchen staff, maintenance staff, office staff, professional YMCA staff, volunteers, guests, and physicians. Healthcare Staff must also recognize that parents play a critical role in the success of Camp Takodah (i.e. enrolling their children, referring others to camp, promoting camp); therefore, Healthcare Staff must also develop positive, professional, and guest service-focused relationships with them.
Equipment Used
Healthcare Staff will be asked to use the facilities and supplies in the Health Lodge, under the guidance of the Nurses. Healthcare Staff might also be asked to use specialized equipment, including—but not limited to—fire protection equipment, washers and dryers, maintenance equipment, and cleaning supplies. Healthcare Staff might also be asked to drive camp vehicles In all cases, Healthcare Staff must receive proper training from their supervisor before using the equipment, and Healthcare Staff are expected to follow all safety policies and procedures at all times.

- Our cabins are cozy, rustic and well maintained. All cabins have electricity and screened windows for fresh breezes. Staff sleep in twin-sized beds with comfortable mattresses. We provide bed linens, a sleeping bag, and a pillow. All cabins are within eyesight of the central bathroom and shower facilities, all of which have been recently renovated.
