Currently recruiting for the season from June 6th, 2026 to August 22nd, 2026.
Camp Takodah provides award-winning overnight camps for kids ages 8-15. Takodah helps campers discover who they are and what they can achieve. In our single-gender camps, kids unplug so they can connect with themselves and each other. In everything we do, we empower kids with the confidence and character needed to reach their full potential.
Camp Takodah is about two hours from Boston and four hours from New York City. You'll also be about an hour from regional cities, like Manchester and Nashua New Hampshire.
Each summer, we welcome 1,500 campers, ages 7-15, from New England and around the world (370 per session). The majority of our campers have spent multiple summers at Takodah. Most of them come from pretty ordinary backgrounds and exhibit behaviors typical of their ages.
Our gender focused camps help kids ‘unplug’ from technology so they can reconnect with themselves and each other. More than that, it’s a chance to get away from the precarious world in which we live and the stresses of school and life. In all of our activities, we strive to empower campers with the confidence and character they need to reach their full potential.
Each summer, we recruit nearly 150 college students and young professionals from around the world to join our team. We seek staff with warm personalities, positive attitudes, strong work ethics, good character, and a sincere desire to work with children. Many staff members are former campers who give Takodah a great sense of community and tradition, while our new staff members bring fresh ideas and energy to our community.
Your most important role at Takodah is leading your cabin. You’ll live in a cabin with a co-leader and 10 campers. Your job is keeping campers safe and healthy, serving as a positive role model, helping campers learn and grow, cultivating friendships and belonging, and making sure everyone has fun.
The cabins are clustered into “divisions.” Each division is led by an experienced division head who supports cabin leaders and plans special division programs. Along with your division head, you’ll be surrounded by veteran cabin leaders and a leadership team to help with anything you need.
In addition to leading a cabin, you’ll also be a program instructor. As an instructor, you’ll work with other leaders who share your activity specialty, under the guidance of a program head. Your program head will help you draw on your own experiences, as well as teach you new skills, that will enable you to facilitate classes successfully.
We seek staff with warm personalities, positive attitudes, strong work ethics, good character, and a sincere desire to live and work with children. If you have those qualities and are willing to live by our values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, you’ll be a perfect fit for Takodah. We’ll train you in everything else you need to know during Staff Orientation.
Our cabins are cozy, rustic and well-maintained. All cabins have electricity and screened windows for fresh breezes. Staff sleep in twin-sized beds with comfortable mattresses. You’ll bring your own bed linens and pillow with you. All cabins are within eyesight of the central bathroom and shower facilities, all of which have been recently renovated.
We do our best to serve healthy, kid-friendly, delicious meals and our campers rate the food a 9/10. Every meal includes an extensive breakfast or salad bar, and hearty vegetarian and gluten-free options are always available. We maintain a “nut aware” environment.
We have WIFI available to staff on their time off, and many staff bring laptops to stay connected with the non-camp world. Cell service is a little patchy at camp. You’ll want your cell phone for trips into town, and we have landline phones available to you if you need them.
Many staff bring cars to camp. If you don’t have a car, you can usually hitch a ride into town with other staff who share the same time off. Camp Takodah is 90 minutes from Boston and 20 minutes from Keene, NH.
We usually provide free daily shuttles to Keene, New Hampshire, and Brattleboro, Vermont every day for staff on time off. You can find Target, Walmart, grocery stores, movie theaters, thrift shops, and more! We are located nearby to Mount Monadnock which makes for some great hiking!
