Outdoor Adventure Guide: Visualize yourself on our high-energy, fun-loving team at Wildman Adventure Resort, where you'll live at no cost in rustic housing surrounded by towering pines, roaring rivers, and stunning natural beauty. Every day offers the chance to create unforgettable guest experiences, whether guiding thrilling whitewater trips, leading outdoor activities, or helping a group start their first campfire. Our close-knit team bonds over family-style dinners, lazy river floats, post-work river runs, and jam sessions by the fire. No experience? No problem! Bring your passion for the outdoors, and we’ll provide the training to make this the adventure of a lifetime.
Specific Skills: Exceptional personal communication skills. First aid and CPR training is required. Experience in outdoor adventure activities and First responder/EMT certifications a plus. No experience is necessary. On-the-job training (related to each activity) is required. Some heavy lifting is required.
The personality that fits: You are a hardworking individual who shares our passion for outdoor adventure and loves sharing that enthusiasm with others. The ideal candidate is upbeat, personable, and thrives in creating meaningful connections with both guests and co-workers. You should be comfortable engaging with strangers, whether it’s helping them with a question, guiding them through an adventure, or addressing a situation in a firm yet professional manner.
Flexibility is key—you adapt easily and are eager to learn new skills. Greeting guests warmly and making them feel welcome comes naturally to you, and you excel at providing information and entertainment that enhances their experience. Your ability to adjust your style to suit different groups ensures every guest has a unique and memorable adventure. You'll have a much different trip with a Girl Scout troop than a bachelor party!
We value team players who are self-motivated and capable of working independently. You can tackle a project with determination and see it through to completion. If you appreciate the beauty of nature, enjoy a simple lifestyle, and don’t mind a scenic 20-minute drive to the nearest grocery store in our rural community, you’ll feel right at home here.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who truly cares about the success of Wildman Adventure Resort and the guests we are fortunate enough to host. You’re invested in helping your team and the company succeed while ensuring every guest has the time of their life.
Who We Are: We’re a family-owned, and innovative outdoor adventure company with a 35 year track record of success. We have two locations where we entertain and lead groups in activities like whitewater rafting, stand-up paddle boarding, high ropes course, rock climbing, kayaking, zip-lining, and paintball. We also offer a bar, restaurant, a variety of lodging, meal packages, and a small retail store. Our mission is to challenge people in the outdoors, help them connect with nature and each other, and create experiences that inspire real personal growth. Challenge. Connect. Grow.
Where you'll be working: In the great Wisconsin Wilderness! You will spend very little time indoors and instead, you'll be on the river, in the air, or in the forest. We have two locations from which we run trips 40 miles apart. Guides may be required to work at both locations, so be prepared to travel. We generally try to settle you into one primary location. While the work can be physically and mentally demanding, you're surrounded by individuals here for the same reason: to create epic outdoor experiences and have fun while doing it! We often gather as a team for dinner and various team-building activities such as Ultimate Frisbee, sand volleyball, Christmas in July, and the Guide Olympics.
When You're Here: This is a full-time position, with opportunities for side jobs and increased hours for the right person. Our peak season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. The first round of training starts in Mid May for those who are able to make it. You will be expected to be here for as much of that time as possible. Actual work hours can be somewhat flexible and will start averaging around 20-40 hours per week. Because we are the busiest on the weekends, you can plan to be guiding almost every weekend.
What You Can Expect From Us: Guests come to Wildman for moments they cannot get elsewhere, and your job is to deliver them. That means thinking fast, fixing problems before anyone notices, and keeping the vibes high even when the river (or the bus, or the weather, or a. late group) tries to test you. We expect professionalism, good judgment, and a steady presence under pressure. In return, you are given a supportive work environment to challenge yourself, connect with guests and coworkers, and grow both in the outdoor tourism industry and as a human. Your first 30 days are a training/trial period to make sure that Wildman is a good spot for you. Management in highly motivated to make sure you are doing well here, and will help find the best spot for you as you learn.
