We serve eclectic, handmade, high-quality food to both locals and travelers from around the world, holding ourselves to very high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and professionalism. Life in our kitchen is demanding, fun, and deeply rewarding, and we’re seeking a dedicated, motivated Line Cook who takes pride in their work and thrives in a busy environment. A summer with us—tucked deep in the heart of Alaska’s Wrangell–St. Elias National Park—means long days, big skies, wild landscapes, and memories you’ll carry long for the rest of your life.
About the Kitchen
Our kitchen is led by a chef with over 20 years of professional experience, ranging from Michelin-starred restaurants in New York to food trucks in rural Alaska. This is a hands-on, learning-focused environment where consistency, efficiency, cleanliness, teamwork and attention to detail are essential.
The Season
We are having our busiest year to date, and are expanding our crew by two positions for the rest of our Summer season which ends on September 15th.
Responsibilities
Prepare and execute dishes to established recipes and quality standards
Work efficiently and calmly during fast-paced, high-volume service
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
Assist with prep, stocking, and proper food storage
Communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team
Receive feedback professionally and continuously improve skills
Qualifications for Line Cook position:
Previous line cook or professional kitchen experience required
Strong knife skills and a solid foundation in cooking fundamentals
Ability to move quickly without sacrificing quality or cleanliness
High personal standards for food, organization, and professionalism
Reliable, punctual, and capable of meeting the physical demands of kitchen work
Willingness to learn and grow under experienced leadership
Qualifications for Dishwasher position:
Previous Kitchen experience preferred
A strong work ethic
Ability to move quickly without sacrificing quality or cleanliness
High personal standards for organization, and professionalism
Reliable, punctual, and capable of meeting the physical demands of kitchen work
Willingness to learn and grow under experienced leadership

The Potato is a small, locally-owned Alaska restaurant serving some of the best food in Alaska. We're open from May to September, during Alaska's busiest tourism months. Our tight-knit team works hard to serve handmade, globally-influenced cuisine. Our menu features everything from the famous Potatohead burrito to Copper River Red salmon served over a miso salad. We have fun, and it shows.
