The Oasis at Death Valley is situated in a lush, spring-fed desert oasis, surrounded by the vast and arid desert of Death Valley National Park. The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs.

We’re hiring General Maintenance Technicians to Live. Work. Explore. in Death Valley National Park! 

Job Summary: 

The General Maintenance Technician position provides assistance and/or leads all trades and performs general light to medium maintenance to facilities and grounds as assigned including operating the solid waste program and maintaining pools. The General Maintenance Technician position is required to be available for weekend and night shifts. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently on his/her own with minimal supervision, possess excellent communication skills and have a willingness to work as a team.

Position Type: Full-time Year-round

Start Dates: Early May 2026

Pay: $18.65/hr
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security and safety of all job sites and work areas for self, fellow workers, staff, guests and any other person(s) possibly affected during performance of assignments.

  • Perform all assignments as directed by the Lead GMA/Assistant Director of Engineering (or his/her designate) assuring safety, quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness.

  • Maintain a spirit of cooperation within the department and throughout the property.

  • Work hours, shifts, and overtime as required and/or assigned by the Assistant Director of Engineering or his/her designate.

  • Provide labor to facilitate Working Leads’ assignments.

  • Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behavior with all guests and employees.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • At least 6 months experience in general maintenance.

  • Basic understanding of electrical, carpentry, painting and plumbing.

  • Experience in any other trades such as vehicle maintenance, welding, machine operation, etc a plus.

  • Must be able to read and write in English. Bilingual a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder up to 40 feet from ground level.

  • Ability to enter and work in crawl spaces, attics and manholes.

  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments with extreme temperatures.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme conditions which include extreme hot conditions in the Summer.
