Two Big Sky Locations: In the heart of The Town Center and at the base of Big Sky Resort

About The Hungry Moose Market and Deli

The Hungry Moose Market and Deli in Big Sky, Montana is a community-focused business located in the heart of Town Center, and at the base of Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort. Starting as a roadside veggie stand in 1994, The Hungry Moose has grown with the town over twenty-seven years.

Our Deli is renowned for our house-made soups, salads, sandwiches and incredible baked goods. Our grocery is known for its premier wine section (more like a surprising wine shop), our excellent fresh produce, and we recently added floral and curbside pick-up to the list of the MANY things that we offer. You can read more about our services and products on our website!

Our staff (the "Moose Crew") all work together to provide a great customer experience for locals, visitors, second homeowners, kids, dogs, and pretty much everyone who passes through or lives in Big Sky. We are open every day of the year from 6:30 am-9:00 pm. This opens up many employment opportunities at two locations in a busy ski and summer resort town.

The Employee Experience

During the high seasons of summer and winter, we usually have a total of approximately 65 staff members between our two locations and our Central Kitchen. The Moose Crew works together and often plays together: skiing, hiking, biking, fishing or enjoying the local activities like concerts, the Farmer's Market and trips to Yellowstone Park.

Along with the customer experience, employee health and wellness is a top priority of the Hungry Moose. A few of our wellness benefits include: free yoga and group fitness classes at local studios, mental health reimbursement arrangement, and a winter recreation benefit that may be used toward a downhill ski pass at Big Sky Resort, XC skiing at Lone Mountain Ranch, or a gym membership at Lone Peak Fitness. We also organize what we call "Moosers on the town" which could be a bike/walk/skate tour around town coupled with wine and food pairings, or gift card distributions to try out new restaurants in town to support local businesses.

Ideal Candidate

The most successful staff members at The Hungry Moose Market and Deli are those with a positive attitude, adaptability, an easy smile, a love of the outdoors and a good sense of humor. We are a busy market and deli with customers from all walks of life including locals, visitors, part-time homeowners, members of the local private clubs and those just passing through. We like to keep our vibe high even when it is crazy busy and we have a long line at the lunch counter or a swarm of people grabbing something to eat and drink during their ski break.

Room and Board

The Hungry Moose Market and Deli has employee condominiums located within walking distance of our Town Center location. There are options for single or double rooms depending on availability. Currently, only shared rooms are available with single rooms potentially opening up in May. The condos are fully furnished and have a washer and dryer in each unit.

Staff members who take advantage of our housing are required to pay a one-month security deposit and commit seasonally.

As in most ski towns, housing in Big Sky can be difficult to find and quite expensive. The summer season has a little more availability and options. We encourage you to visit the Big Sky Housing Network Facebook Page, Go Big Rentals or local craigslist ads to learn more about local housing options and costs.
