Position Overview

At DIY Jeep Tours and Avis Rental Car in Skagway, Alaska, our Tour Attendants are the first point of contact for customers, setting the tone for their experience with us. As a Counter Attendant, you’ll welcome guests with a friendly and professional demeanor, assist with reservations, and ensure each customer receives excellent service. Your responsibilities will include managing check-ins, taking customer requests, accepting payments, and helping guests with any needs or questions they may have during their visit. 

This position requires a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Customer Service & Guest Experience

  • Greet each guest with a warm, welcoming attitude

  • Provide excellent service to ensure a positive and memorable experience

  • Communicate clearly and maintain strong, professional relationships with guests

  • Resolve guest inquiries and concerns promptly with a solutions-focused approach

  • Engage with customers to enhance satisfaction and encourage repeat business

Check-In, Reservations & Guest Flow

  • Assist with reservations and efficiently check in guests for Jeep tours and vehicle rentals

  • Provide clear instructions and ensure guests are fully prepared for their experience

  • Handle walk-in guests and assist with day-of bookings

  • Complete check-out/check-in processes for returning vehicles and review guest feedback

Sales, Payments & Administrative Support

  • Accurately process payments, including cash and credit card transactions

  • Prepare invoices and debit notes for completed sales

  • Monitor and follow up on guest deposit payments

  • Ensure all transactions are handled with accuracy and attention to detail

Operations & Team Support

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations

  • Assist with various operational tasks as needed

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked counter and work area

  • Follow cleaning checklists and assist with routine maintenance tasks

Vehicle & Lot Support

  • Clean vehicles upon return

  • Help prepare vehicles and the lot for the next day’s operations

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and remain on your feet for extended periods

  • Ability to walk, bend, crouch, and perform repetitive tasks

  • Regularly lift and carry up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds

  • Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including outdoor and fast-paced settings


Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent customer service and attention to detail

  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and adapt to changing needs

  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and guidelines
