How does applying your artistic abilities in a fun and welcoming community  located in a beautiful mountain setting sound? Photographing kids kayaking across a beautiful mountain lake, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, and other activities!

Shaffer's High Sierra Summer Camp is located on the peaceful headwaters of the North Yuba River in the scenic Tahoe National Forest, and is surrounded by majestic mountains, clean rivers, stunning lakes, and fantastic hiking and biking trails. The Camp employs about 60 staff to serve about 100 kids for 9 weeks. We've been recognized by Outside Magazine as one of its 5 favorite camps in the U.S., been recommended by the L.A. Times, and we've been included in Newsweek's list of the country's best camps. We get kids and staff from  around the world. It's an interesting and exciting place to live and work!

We need your help in two capacities:

First, you'll capture life at Camp, photographing kids in activities, during meal time, and in bunk life. We upload those photos daily so parents get to see their kids. Then, at the end of each of five two-week sessions you'll create a slide show that you'll present to the Camp to help kids relive their time at Camp. We'll also ask you to upload your photos to a separate site for long term storage.

Second, you'll teach kids the art of photography based on a syllabus of skills to teach.

You should have experience in shooting action scenes, portraits, and landscapes, editing, including use of Adobe Lightroom or similar cloud-based editing platform. You need to be able to operate independently with a minimum of supervision but not be afraid to ask for help or direction. You need initiative, creativity, artistry, and technical proficiency with equipment. And you need to be dependable.

Camp has  basic equipment, including cameras  and laptops, and we can subscribe to Lightroom or other similar online editing platform. You are welcome to use your own equipment if you wish.

We are looking for two photographers and you will work together, as a team.

We're in a natural environment. Our facilities are rustic. You'll have use of a private tent with access to real toilets and showers. The office has Wi-Fi. And meals are included. These are not your typical summer camp meals. These are really good!
