North Dakota’s park legacy began in 1907 with Old Fort Abraham Lincoln. Today, ND Parks & Recreation manages 14 state parks, preserves, natural areas, and recreation sites. The agency also oversees 205 miles of trails, motorized recreation, and statewide grant programs—supporting outdoor access and conservation across the state.
