At MMR, we strive to create a very unique environment. An environment that is contrary to contemporary culture. Where technology is traded for all-present conversations and authentic friendships. Where authentic fun is had, and genuine connections are made without the help aid of any substance. Where there is no pressure or expectancy for romantic relationships and everyone is viewed as family.  Our mission and our commitment are at the heart of what we do at Mountain Meadow Ranch and should be taken into special consideration when seeking employment with our family. We want to move away from the norm and fight for greatness. We hope to engage in the art of being present with one another and to grow to be the best versions of ourselves. That is our heart.

Camp is an intensive, short-lived time filled with kids that need us to be present in every moment. We want staff that is willing to give themselves to the kids and experience living a unique lifestyle.

If you seek a summer of fun alone, we encourage you to look elsewhere. To say camp is fun is an understatement, fun is a given. MMR isn't just a summer camp. It’s a place where fears are conquered and identities are found. It’s a place where genuine relationships are born and flourish. We are growth, unplugged, wholesome adventure. We practice stewardship, inclusiveness, empathy, encouragement, and integrity. As we celebrate authenticity, we help each other as a family, find joy in our uniqueness and encourage all to dance outside their comfort zones. We believe all this starts with our counselors. It all starts with YOU!

Lake Staff General Job Description

At MMR, all activities related to the lake take place at Lake Almanor, which is a vast surface area lake spanning almost 13,000 acres and is located approximately 42 miles from camp. Every day, after breakfast, the lake crew takes a van full of eight campers, who were picked the night before, to the lake where they spend the day skiing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, tubing, and other water activities. The boat is kept in slips in the water at the Knotty Pine Resort marina, where we start and finish each day. On the way to the lake, the campers are provided with a brief introduction to how things work at the lake, including everything they need to know about sunblock, life jackets, standing up, sitting down in the boats, and other essential safety measures.

Summer Goals:
The water ski program aims to provide the opportunity for as many campers as possible to get to the lake. Some campers have skied or wake boarded before, while others have not. Some are eager to try, and others are terrified at the thought of it. Everyone should be given the opportunity to try something new, but should also be shown a good time within their comfort zone (whether that’s just being on a tube or attempting a new trick on a wakeboard). Campers should come home from the lake happy, maybe exhausted, still hydrated, and without a sunburn.

Physical Ability Requirements:

  1. Able to be LIFEGUARD certified before arrival to camp

  2. California Boaters License (easy online certification course!)

  3. Walk to and from aquatic areas on uneven ground.

  4. Physically able to get on and off the boat, help launch the boat from the dock, balance skills moving around the boat, etc.

  5. Lift ski equipment to and from the water and back onto the boat equipment rack.

  6. Carry full ice chest and water coolers

*Please keep in mind, Mountain Meadow Ranch counselors act as both cabin counselors and activity instructors.
