The Opportunity

The Landscaping and Snow Removal Foreman is responsible for maintaining the landscaped grounds inside Moonlight Basin property, year-round. These areas include but are not limited to the lodge, entryway, cowboy heaven gate, and the residential sub-divisions within Moonlight Basin property. Supervises and assists with the snow removal during the winter, which includes shoveling walkways, patios, and decks, as well as running snow removal equipment and plow vehicles. 

  • Mowing, fertilizing, chemical application, irrigation installation & maintenance, tree & shrub trimming, mulch & flower bed maintenance, sod & seed projects, and installation of erosion control methods. 

  • Apply pesticides & fertilizers according to label instructions with properly calibrated equipment and maintain accurate records of all applications.

  • Ability to oversee a crew of five or more on a daily basis.

  • Ability to train, lead, and direct small groups of employees to achieve desired productivity and job performance.

  • Ensure all tools, equipment, vehicles, and supplies are properly used, maintained, and stored. 

  • Ability to train employees to safely operate various types of landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, tractors, chainsaws, skid loaders, and vehicles.

  • Assist in creating vehicle checklists and SOPs for daily tasks.

  • Assist with snow removal responsibilities including equipment operation and shoveling of driveways, decks, and walkways.

  • Develop & implement scheduled maintenance programs for the landscaped areas on the property to make sure the grounds are being maintained to high standards.

  • Maintains positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service.

  • Always maintain a professional appearance when on the property.

  • Performs all duties as assigned by manager, as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required. A two year degree in landscaping or turf management related field preferred.

  • Five years of experience in the landscaping and/or turf industry with two years in a supervisory role.

  • Knowledge of tools methods, and materials used in landscape maintenance work.

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving history.

  • Possess or ability to obtain a Montana state pesticide applicators license.

  • One year of experience operating outdoor power equipment including riding and walk behind mowers, chain saws, trimmers, tractors, & skid loaders.

  • One year of experience with snow removal equipment including snow blowers, blades, and shoveling.

  • Must be dependable and available to work within the resort on weekends, nights and/or holidays based on business demands. 

  • Must be able to work flexible and long hours as business demands.

Working Conditions

This position works outdoors year-round in all weather conditions typical of a mountain ski resort. Work hours typically start between 6:00-7:00 am. Except in the winter when it snows overnight, requiring snow removal to start at 3:00-4:00 AM. Conditions in the field are typical to those found at a residential community, working outdoors, exposed to the weather, and working in the snow, rain, hail, mud, with uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces. 

Physical Requirements

This is a physical demanding job where the incumbent is required to lift up to 50lbs on a regularly basis, stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch and do repetitive tasks with few breaks. Employee will use power tools that vibrate or operate sharp cutting equipment. 

  • Working with heavy equipment requires employees to hear verbal communications and equipment operations.

  • Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.

  • Operate manual and power tools requiring the ability to grip objects and move fingers and hands.

  • See and read equipment operation manuals and safety instruction documents.

  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on landscaping and snow removal equipment.
