About Millers Landing

Miller’s Landing is a family-owned and operated business that was established in 1982. We work hard to provide every guest with a memorable experience, with a focus on safety, education, stewardship, and fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. We have a lot to offer, from guided sea kayaking trips, overnight trips, boat rentals, fishing charters, water taxi services to remote kayaking, hiking, and camping and RV destinations.

In addition to our own business, we book for and work closely with other tour and lodging businesses operating in and around Seward, Alaska.

Are you ready for a real adventure? As a member of our staff, you'll have access to the best fishing, kayaking, hiking, and sightseeing that Alaska has to offer! You'll meet new people from all over the world and learn a ton of new skills!

We have a lot going on here in the summer, and we work very hard to keep everything running smoothly. With multiple fishing charters, tours, and water taxis departing throughout the day, we stay very busy! Keep in mind, we are at the end of the road, right on the border of the Chugach National Forest, and this is truly a no-frills resort!

Our season is May 1st to September 15th.

The Employee Experience

The Alaskan experience is truly unique and can not be compared to anywhere else. It's here that you will find both stunning scenery, friendly people, and a truly wild experience. Our employees, when not taking advantage of our trips, can be found hiking and backpacking on the numerous trails around us, camping, fishing, or other outdoor excursions while working here in Seward.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for dependable, enthusiastic and self-motivated employees who enjoy working with tourists visiting Alaska. Outdoor skills are a plus, but not required.

Room and Board

We have housing available at greatly reduced rates to full-time staff.  Basically just enough to cover minor wear and tear and utilities.  The staff bunkhouse is a 5-bedroom apartment with wifi, a private kitchen and bathroom, with 2 people to a room.

We also have several dry cabins on the property, each of which can accommodate 2-3 staff members, with propane or wood-stove heat. The cabins are all within close proximity of one another and have and outdoor kitchen, access to showers/restrooms, and access to wifi.  Many staff often end up with places to themselves- its an assortment of small cabins placed in various places on the property.

Employee Perks

Millers Landing does offer an insurance package and 401k to year round employees.  Employees are encouraged to experience all of Miller’s Landing’s activities and all activities/tours that Miller’s Landing makes reservations for. In your leisure time, there is an amazing variety of outdoor activities to take advantage of including hiking, camping, fishing, wildlife viewing, and much more. Our location is backed up to several hiking trails and great fishing locations.

The additional benefits can include other activities at Miller’s landing and with other companies that we take reservations for. Such as kayak lessons, rentals, and or guided trips, water taxis, wildlife and glacier tours of Kenai Fjord National Park and Resurrection Bay, dog sledding, fishing charters, and much more. We encourage our team to experience these activities early in the season during their off-work time so they may be better educated about the area and what Miller’s Landing offers their customers.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Employees are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to/from Anchorage. When you fly into Anchorage, where you can either take the train or the bus to Seward - we're happy to set it up for you. From there, we'll pick you up at the depot and bring you to our homestead on Lowell Point, just three miles outside of Seward, via dirt road.

Seward is a small town, which means it's great for travelling via bike, foot, or even rollerblade. The closest grocery store is 5 miles from Miller's Landing. So, most staff enjoy having a vehicle to get to town and to enjoy other parts of the state.  We are however located near some great hiking trails, fishing spots and are backed to the beautiful Chugach National Forest.

For Fun

Seward is a great town! There are several great hikes around Seward, the best kayaking in Alaska, fishing charters, glacier and wildlife cruises, dogsled tours, flightseeing, and a ton of other fun and exciting ways to spend your time off!

Seward is a very small town, but in the summer there is quite a dynamic nightlife as well, with seasonal staff at a number of local businesses, as well as thousands of tourists flocking in from all over the world! It's a great place to meet new people!
