The Island Inn is an iconic seasonal hotel (established in 1907) and restaurant located 11 miles offshore of Mid-Coast Maine on beautiful Monhegan Island - an unspoiled nature lover's paradise of woods, cliffs and rocky shores, and a small community of lobstermen and working artists. Most of Monhegan Island is preserved as a conservation area with 12 miles of hiking trails around the highest headland cliffs on the East Coast and endless rocky coves.
The Island Inn has 32 guest rooms. In addition, the hotel operates an in-house 60 seat fine-dining restaurant and a free-standing café, the Barnacle. Our restaurant serves breakfast and dinner to very loyal hotel guests and the public, providing a unique take on coastal cuisine paired with a magical setting.
