Jackson Hole Dog Musher positions with great tips

Heart Six Ranch operates guided dogsledding tours through the winter landscapes surrounding Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park. As a dogsled guide, you will be responsible for safely driving a team of sled dogs while providing our guests with an unforgettable winter experience.

Before guiding guests, you will be required to complete Wilderness First Aid and CPR training and successfully complete our dogsled handling and trail-training program. You must demonstrate full control of the sled and dog team, safely navigate winter trails, and properly respond to changing weather, snow, and trail conditions.

You will be responsible for the safety and comfort of our guests at all times, as well as the daily care, feeding, harnessing, handling, and general well-being of the sled dogs. You will also assist with maintaining sleds, harnesses, equipment, kennels, and vehicles. Guides may be required to drive trucks or vans while transporting dogs and equipment and to help load and unload sleds, supplies, and dog teams.

You will be expected to develop a strong working knowledge of the local area, Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, regional wildlife, and the history of dogsledding. A large part of the position involves spending time with guests who may be experiencing dogsledding for the first time, so we are looking for individuals with outgoing personalities, positive attitudes, strong communication skills, and plenty of energy.

Dogsledding is physically strenuous and takes place outdoors in cold temperatures, snow, wind, and changing winter conditions. The position requires lifting, running, bending, handling strong dogs, and working long days. Please carefully consider the physical demands and winter working conditions before applying.
