Goldbelt Tram Alaska is looking for a number of year-round and seasonal positions. Seasonal positions are typically from April-October. We are currently looking to fill roles for our 2023 season. Training for 2023 seasonal positions will be held in mid-April. Priority will be given to applicants with full availability. Some flexibility on availability is possible, depending on the position and applicant. Under the direction of the Retail Manager, assists with the management and supervision of retail staff, and the overall operations of Raven Eagle Gifts & Gallery.
JOB DUTIES:
- Supervises the daily operations of the Tramway retail enterprises and staff, including opening/closing of shop facilities and space, staff weekly work scheduling and direction, in-person and telephone vendor and customer interaction, security, account maintenance and reconciliation and reporting of daily cash receipts, and computer problem resolution, involving transactions and reporting.
- Determines and implements daily operating procedures; ensures staff is informed of characteristics, artists, background, etc. of art and items for sale.
- Exercises supervisory authority over retail and gift shop staff at the Tramway terminal locations, including responsibility for, training, evaluation, and discipline in consultation with the Retail Manager, Director of Sales and Service, and General Manager.
- Assists with strategies that contribute to product sales, profitability, and excellent customer service skills for staff.
- Ability to instruct/train, evaluates, and motivates subordinate employees related to both retail sales and tram operations.
- Responsible for the maintenance of a neat, safe, and efficient retail space area; ensures that sales products are properly and neatly displayed and stocked, and supplies are available for staff use.
- Assist in inventory management.
- Responsible for upholding and assuring staff compliance with Goldbelt’s policies and procedures; acts as liaison between front line staff and management with regard to issues directly affecting day-to-day operations; coordinates and participates in staff orientation.
- Ensures all customers receive prompt service; packaging and shipping services – wraps and mails merchandise purchases on request; maintains a friendly, knowledgeable and courteous demeanor at all times.

Responsible for the preparation and serving of all alcoholic beverages at the Timberline Bar & Grill, in order to contribute to guest satisfaction and premier customer service atmosphere. Full-time and part-time positions available.
JOB DUTIES
- Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages to restaurant guests, being concerned with the quality, quantity, and appearance of the beverage product; mixing all beverages consistently, and applying recipe knowledge of all drinks.
- Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a limited bar area as part of the tramway restaurant.
- Coordinates sales receipts reporting with the Front of House Manager and staff.
- Stocks and maintains par levels in bar, assists with conducting ongoing inventory.

SUMMARY
Performs (at the semi-skilled level) general repairs and preventative maintenance to buildings, facilities, and grounds.
JOB DUTIES
- Performs general repairs and preventative maintenance to the tramway’s buildings, facilities and grounds, which might entail mechanical, plumbing, electrical and/or cosmetic carpentry and painting work.
- Will be available to do emergency repairs to the water pump and its connections located in the facility/house at the top and bottom terminals and out Thane Road; will monitor the facility’s water system on a daily basis.
- When necessary, will assist the Tram Maintenance Supervisor and crew with special repair, maintenance or installation projects with the aerial tramway and lift, working under the immediate direction of the Tram Maintenance Supervisor and/or contractors.
- Keeps supervisor informed at all times of informal staff requests, status and schedule of current and future project work, problems due to the scope, unsafe conditions or higher skilled requirements of a project.
- Continually performs repair or maintenance work in a safe manner, ensuring that activities do not endanger self, staff or passengers, or damage equipment. Operates working tools and equipment in a safe manner per the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Will expedite the ordering of, stock and maintain adequate inventory of repair parts and supplies.
- Performs general upkeep and landscaping of the grounds, walkways, trail markers or signs.
- Assists janitorial staff when necessary; maintains servicing of company vehicles.
- Participates in training exercises on the tramway’s evacuation procedures; is part of the staff response team when necessary.

SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting wait staff and providing table cleaning service for the restaurant, in order to contribute to a smooth operation.
JOB DUTIES
- In preparation for guest visits, clears all used tableware, napkins and refuse from tables to tubs in bus station; wipes tables and chairs; clears debris from floor areas surrounding the tables; resets tables in accordance with established standards in order to seat new customers as quickly as possible.
- Removes full tubs of used dishes, etc. from bus station to dishwashing area for cleaning; maintains a clean, well-stocked and orderly bus station at all times in order to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Retrieves cleaned dishes, glassware and utensils from the kitchen area and distributes to each service station for future use.
- During a guest visit, assists wait staff by filling water glasses, refilling customers’ beverages, accommodating requests for additional condiments, clean or fresh tableware, etc.
- Restocks and replenishes food service supplies; continually strives to assist in maintaining a clean, presentable, and attractive restaurant. Assists with the movement of foodstuffs from lower terminal to kitchen area.

SUMMARY
Coordinates all restaurant, bar, snack bar, Espresso stands and catering operations including dining room service, setup and service of catering events, and catering sales. Ensuring budget and profit goals are met while ensuring guest satisfaction, a high level of customer service and restaurant operations that complement the overall tramway experience.
JOB DUTIES
· Manage and direct the Tramway’s restaurant and food and beverage operations and services, striving to meet the establishment’s objectives of profitability, professional, efficient and top-quality service.
· Supervise, train, schedule, counsel, evaluate and discipline all Kitchen, wait, bar and catering staff; develop, provide or arrange for training of new and current employees in all aspects of food and beverage service; assist with approval of payroll for subordinate staff.
· Coordinate and direct catering functions including setup, scheduling, event execution and clean up. Ensures that signed banquet bills are received and posted on the day of the event, and that all controlled tips information is prepared and disseminated in accordance with Goldbelt accounting guidelines.
· Manage the required budget specified in the Tramway’s annual budget and business plan; ensures the accuracy of host/cashier’s daily revenue reports and deposits. Assists with purchasing and inventories.
· Ensures that the presentation of all food and beverage items meet established standards. Communicates any variations in presentation, quality of food or timeliness to the General Manager and F&B Supervisors.
· Maintains appropriate inventory of all banquet supplies including linens, props, uniforms and equipment.
· Perform any food and beverage duties as necessary and required during absences and emergencies of subordinates, and during peak operating hours.
· Must be Proficient in the operation of point of sales systems, computers, standard kitchen and bar equipment, and standard office equipment.
· In collaboration with the General Manager and Director of Sales & Service discusses and determines menu design and planning, including food costing. Conducts weekly and monthly Inventories; determines purchasing needs of produce, supplies and food products. Investigates food supply sources; negotiates prices related to purchases and completes related paperwork; verifies receipt of food products and supplies; manages to budget.
· Assigns work to kitchen staff; constantly monitors the cooks’ preparation and cooking techniques and practices, checking the quality, quantity and appearance of the menu items before they are “pushed out” of the kitchen; assists in scheduling staff during assigned shift and on a weekly basis; provides ongoing training and guidance to subordinates; trains and evaluates cooks and dishwashers, ensuring compliance with quality standards, efficiency and adequate staff coverage for all shifts; leads by doing; constantly practices and encourages proper hygiene and sanitary habits.
· Thorough knowledge of the practices and techniques of restaurant cooking, food presentation and storage, including seafood handling; all kitchen equipment and appliances; and sanitary food requirements/codes.
· Ensures that all staff and patrons follow state law regarding alcoholic beverage service.
· Thorough knowledge of state sanitary regulations and requirements, state liquor laws (Alaska Alcohol Beverage Control Board) as well as standard practices and procedures related to food preparation and storage.

· Under the direction of the Director of Sales & services, the Front of House Manager is responsible for closing/balancing and reporting all payments of food and beverage purchases made by restaurant and bar guests. Responsible for managing operations of the dining room & bar during business hours and special events. Oversees all closing and opening procedures of all front of house staff. Assists Kitchen Manager in planning and executing all special events. Assists in menu programing and planning. Assists with formulating liquor and food costs. Manages front of house staff including hiring, training, and disciplinary action.
JOB DUTIES
· Counts, verifies, and closes out tills or banks assigned to each barista and bartender during the am or pm shift; informs office manager of amount, either in agreement, short or over the tallied sales receipts for food and beverages; distributes till to barista and/or bartender of the later shift and verifies/closes the same; responsible for the safekeeping of all cash during the shift and depositing activities at the close of am or pm business. Manages the POS system, including reporting, transaction voids, and change order. Responsible for all drops and records of shortages or overages.
· Checks and totals sales receipts; ensures that the cash drawer balances; verifies (open/close) safe; nightly runs the credit card transaction report and sales report; works with tramway and corporate accounting staff to address and resolve any problems related to the reporting and accountability of sales receipts and related restaurant transactions.
· Responsible for the hiring and training of all front of house staff including bartenders, expediters, wait staff, bussers, host staff, and greeters.
· Responsible for all front of house schedules and ensures scheduling meets labor requirements. Hold monthly meetings with front of house staff.
· Responsible for opening/closing the restaurant and holding all staff (including the kitchen) accountable for following proper procedures and completing their task 100%.
· Provides floor supervision and monitoring of cashiers, expediters, wait staff and bussers; constantly explains standard methods and techniques of food service, taking and following up on orders, communicating with guests, and Hospitality etc.
· Responsible for making sure food is being run within 1 minute of coming up in the window. Ensures that orders are correct and properly garnished and that food quality is up to our standards.
· Handles all guest or staff complaints and minor problems that arise during the shift. Circulates throughout the restaurant area to ensure consistency in food handling, cashiering, seating, and service. Ensures that staff maintain work areas in a clean and neat manner; Stocks and sets up wait station. Resets tables for new guests as quickly as possible.

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Tram Operations Supervisor and/or Tram Operator, attendant is responsible for loading/unloading passengers on/off an aerial tramway cabin. Attendants also perform cabin attendant duties inside the cabin during passenger transport.
JOB DUTIES
- On a daily or shift basis, and in accordance with GATI’s policies & procedures and in accordance with all ANSI B-77 guidelines, incumbent is the sole cabin attendant and/or platform or station attendant who is responsible for the safe and orderly traffic of passengers on/off an aerial tramway cabin.
- Advises and assists passengers.
- Maintains surveillance of his/her jurisdiction; has authority to slow or stop the movement of the cabin when entering the loading dock, whenever wind conditions or another condition/situation might cause damage to the cabin or danger to the passengers.
- Advises the Tram Operator in charge of the control room of any abnormal or unusual occurrences, conditions or adverse weather conditions; if an abnormal or unusual condition develops in which continued operation may endanger passenger safety or adversely affect the safety of the operation, the Tram Attendant should respond by choosing an appropriate action, which may include any of the following:
- Assisting the passenger;
- Slowing the aerial tram;
- Immediately stopping the aerial tram and advise the Tram Operator.
- Continuing operation and observation;
- Deny access to the aerial tramway to any person; using procedures and criteria provided.

JOB DUTIES

- When necessary due to personnel understaffing, unexpected absences, or emergencies, may perform the duties of a Tram Operator or Tram Attendant; on-call during the regular Tram operating season and will assist the Director of Maintenance and Operations when needed;
- Assumes responsibilities of Tram Maintenance Supervisor during his/her absences;
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to physically climb out of the tramway cabin under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Operations and/or Tram Maintenance Supervisor.
- Ability to physically rope evacuate passengers and self from the cabin.
- Ability to read and interpret tramway and lift blueprints, manuals, and warranty requirements
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn, understand, and follow verbal and manual instructions; work independently and as a self-starter.
- General knowledge of mechanics, electrical controls, hydraulics, wire-ropes, and preventative maintenance procedures of aerial lifts or tramways.
- Skill in the operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software.
- Working knowledge/familiarity with tram operations systems.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance daily.
- Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to passengers those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent, AND
- Five (5) years of semi-skilled work or advanced apprenticeship level experience in the electrical or mechanical field of work, performing general repairs and ongoing maintenance.
- Current CPR/AED and first aid certificates; drug testing may be required, or the ability to obtain as soon as training is available.
- Current Rope Access and Fall Protection certificate or ability to obtain as soon as training is available.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior tram maintenance experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Aerial tramway, lift, and terminal environment (2000 ft. elevation); extreme heights and dangerous overhead work areas exposed to inclement weather conditions; extremely dangerous electrical and/or mechanical conditions and equipment.
- Routine movement in/out of an aerial tramway cabin as part of an aerial tramway and lift operation at a 2000 ft. elevation; constant public interaction and communication; constant exposure to extreme heights; periodic exposure to dangerous equipment during emergency evacuations or power failures.
- During emergency evacuations or equipment failure, expected to assist management. Must be able to hike trails to assist management in various emergencies (e.g., medical, missing persons, etc.) Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. of different tram equipment/supplies. The Tram is a non-smoking facility with designated outside smoking areas.

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Tram Operations Supervisor and/or the Director of Maintenance and Operations is to be knowledgeable of operational and emergency procedures and related equipment needed to perform the assigned duties. All personnel shall use reasonable care while performing their duties.
JOB DUTIES
- On a daily or shift basis, and in accordance with GATI’s policies & procedures and in accordance with all ANSI B-77 guidelines, is to assume responsible charge of the aerial tramway and of Tram Control and its equipment (i.e., console, which controls the movement and operation of the aerial tramway cars; controls all tramway starts; maintains all operational logs as required by the ANSI code).
- Assists the Tram Operations Supervisor with making daily or shift assignments and supervision of all Tram Attendants.
- To verify preoperational inspection (per ANSI B-77 2.3.2.4.2) is completed and documented before public operation.
- To start the aerial tramway while operating for the public (per ANSI B-77 2.3.3.5.2);
- To maintain operational log as required (per ANSI B-77 2.3.5.1).
- To deny access to the aerial tramway to any person; using procedures and criteria provided.
- Advises the Tram Operations Supervisor of observed abnormal or unusual conditions that may adversely affect the safety of the operation.
- To terminate passenger operations (per ANSI B-77 2.3.2.5.8).
- Trained and experienced to handle normal operational and emergency evacuation procedures, including emergency rope evacuation and rescue car operations, initiates action to notify emergency response personnel.
- Trained and experienced to start the standby diesel engine generator as directed by the Tram Operations/Maintenance Manager or Tram Maintenance Supervisor and performs that task immediately. While on duty, communicates with all Tram Attendants regarding passenger load, all stages of movement, problems, etc.; during car operation, focus totally on control center electronics without allowing distractions to occur while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- May function as a Tram Attendant during normal operation and/or unexpected staff absences, emergencies, and/or break relief for Tram Attendants.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

- Ability to problem solves a situation, including the identification of consequences resulting from the correct/incorrect operation of aerial tramway equipment.
- Ability to learn, understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
- Skill in operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software.

- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to balance the requirements of focusing totally on center console operation and providing service to walk-up inquirers.
- Ability to work directly with the public, providing prompt and courteous information and assistance on an as needed basis.
- Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
- Ability to stay calm, cool and collected in the event of a tram operation stoppage of any kind, guests riding with you will be looking to you for guidance and/or direction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Completion of one season as a Tram Cabin Conductor (with GATI), or as an aerial tram operator/attendant elsewhere or other relevant experience.
- Current CPR Certification and First Aid training or ability obtain within 30 days.
- Drug testing may be required.
