We are a seasonal company that operates from May through September.  It is ideal that staff be able to stay the entire time.

Most positions are entry-level with no experience required.  Mushers and Summer Camp Guides require some experience.  

  • Dog Camp Cook

    $5,000.00 / month

    Do you enjoy cooking for yourself and others? Do you have a passion for healthy, delicious food? If so, we are looking for you!

    The ideal candidate will have knowledge of food preparation, food handling and a current Alaska Food Handlers Card (ADEC). Your environment will be semi-remote so organization, meal creativity, food storage awareness and meal planning are necessary.


    • The camp is semi remote.  Fully functional kitchen with running water and electricity.

    • Camp Cook works independently, under the direction of the Camp Manager, preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to camp schedule for a crew of 10-20 employees.

    • Camp Cook is responsible for kitchen operations, maintaining sufficient groceries in camp, ordering, and confirming grocery and kitchen re-supply with the Expediters.

    • Responsible for menu planning, recipes, and preparation, the Camp Cook delivers a well-balanced diet consisting of ‘meat and potato’ fare with plenty of fruits and vegetables, considering allergies, dietary requests, and camp preference.

    • Camp Cooks maintain 7-10 days of dedicated food supply in reserve and display menu flexibility, considering product on hand, re-supply considerations, and operational cost.

    The kitchen is used by the crew throughout the day, Camp Cook provides a warm and inviting reprieve from daily operations, necessitating a positive attitude and restraint.

    Camp Cooks must always facilitate kitchen operations according to ADEC standards.

    • Must be able to lift 50lbs and be able to stand for extended periods of time.

    • Must be able to work legally in the U.S.

    • Valid CPR and First Aid

    • Position is seasonal, May through September.

    • Room and Board provided


  • Summer Dog Camp Guide

    $3,500.00 - $4,500.00 / month + tips

    We are looking for energetic, hardworking, and adventurous folks to provide an outstanding narrative on Alaska.

    In this position, you will meet guests at the docks and safely transport them to our summer sled dog camp.   Drive along the Alaska coastline, through old-growth forest and a historic mining site.  Deliver an informative narrative on Alaska history, flora and fauna and prepare guests for an outstanding adventure with mushers and sled dogs.


    • Maintain guest safety  
    • Radio Communication
    • Maintaining clean vehicles  
    • Performing Daily Vehicle inspections and checking previous inspections to ensure proper understanding of the van prior to morning departure
    • Greeting and helping guests on the van   
    • Driving guest from cruise ship dock to camp while providing a narrated tour


    • Clean driving record   
    • Class C CDL Preferred
    • Provide a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Health card   
    • Pass pre-employment and random drug test (including Marijuana)
    • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
    • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.

    Seasonal Bonus for completion of the season.




  • Musher

    $4,000.00 - $4,500.00 / month + tips

    Mush dogs in the picturesque Sheep Creek Valley in Juneau, Alaska!

    Mushers provide sled dog cart rides to clients on designated trails.  Mushers will maintain a positive outlook and attitude with dogs, guests, and coworkers. 

    • Mushers ensure that all assigned sled dogs are cared for in a competent and careful manner. 
    • Maintaining a clean dog yard and working closely with Handlers, Vet Techs and Camp Manager
    • Provide a safe and informative tour for guests
    • Ensure that the Company’s operations function to the established quality standards. 
    • Other duties as assigned by the Camp Manager


    • Valid CPR and First Aid
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    • Legally able to work in the U.S.
    • Must be able to pass a drug test (including marijuana)

    Room and Board provided 

    Hiring Mushers with or without sled dogs

    Prior mushing experience preferred

    Seasonal Bonus for completion of the season

  • Sled Dog Handler

    $3,500.00 / month + tips

    We are looking for energetic and hardworking folks to join our team for the summer.  We offer dogsledding tours with modified carts in a remote location near Juneau, AK.


    • Dog Handlers will maintain guest safety and assist Mushers getting in and out of dog yards with teams.
    • Each Dog Handler is responsible for assisting Mushers in conducting safe tours.
    • Dog Handlers feed, clean and maintain dog yards.
    • Inspect dogs on a daily basis for general health and fitness.
    • Dog Handlers will work throughout the camp to meet the needs of the day. You may be assigned different duties on any given day at the Camp Manager’s discretion. 

    Additional Info:

    • No experience necessary.
    • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.  
    • Valid CPR and First Aid certification required.
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
    • Point of hire is Juneau, AK.  You must get yourself here.
    • Room and Board provided
    • Must be able to pass a drug test (including Marijuana)
    • Must be available from May to September
  • Photographer

    $3,000.00 - $3,500.00 / month + tips

    We are looking for energetic and hardworking folks to join our team for the Summer! 

    Gold Rush Dog Tours offers dogsledding tours with modified carts in a semi-remote Sheep Creek Valley near Juneau, AK.


    • Photographing action shots of guests on carts
    • Photo sales and accounting
    • Sled Dog Handler duties as assigned
    • Assists in the kitchen as needed
    • Cuddle puppies!!


    • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.
    • Valid CPR and First Aid 
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs. 
    • Must be able to pass a drug test (including marijuana)
    • Must have excellent customer service skills

    Housing and meals provided at no cost

    End of Season Bonus

    Season from the beginning of May to September 

    Photography experience preferred
