Watched over by a dedicated crew, the team at Sheep Creek brings historical mushing to life as guests explore a late 19th century replica outpost.

Gold Rush Dog Tours offers dry-land cart mushing tours in the historic Sheep Creek Valley located in the mountains behind Juneau.
Join an enthusiastic team sharing the history of the valley and sled dogs to primarily cruise ship passengers.
Mushers and sled dogs come from all over the U.S. providing an outstanding tour and once in a lifetime experience for guests.
Camp is located in a semi-remote valley with spectacular scenery.

Gold Rush Dog Tours is based in Sheep Creek Valley. Staff will be in traditional wall tents with 2 to 4 people. There is a communal kitchen and lounge with a full-time cook while in camp. There is no charge for room and board while in camp.
Besides the obvious of working in Alaska and the wilderness all around and the clean fresh air, there are some other perks...
Employees will be responsible for getting to Juneau before and after the season. Most people fly into Juneau, although some elect to take the Alaska State Ferry.
Tips about fun things to see and do in Juneau
We will provide transportation from the airport or ferry terminal. Should you decide to drive your own vehicle, there are places to park, however, we are not responsible for loss/theft/damages.
There is plenty to do while in Juneau. You have mountains to climb, trails to hike, water to canoe, restaurants to eat at and so much more. Be a tourist for the day and explore downtown or choose to get out and go deeper into the wilderness to see what Juneau has to offer. You won't be disappointed.

Do you enjoy cooking for yourself and others? Do you have a passion for healthy, delicious food? If so, we are looking for you!
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of food preparation, food handling and a current Alaska Food Handlers Card (ADEC). Your environment will be semi-remote so organization, meal creativity, food storage awareness and meal planning are necessary.

The camp is semi remote. Fully functional kitchen with running water and electricity.
Camp Cook works independently, under the direction of the Camp Manager, preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to camp schedule for a crew of 10-20 employees.
Camp Cook is responsible for kitchen operations, maintaining sufficient groceries in camp, ordering, and confirming grocery and kitchen re-supply with the Expediters.
Responsible for menu planning, recipes, and preparation, the Camp Cook delivers a well-balanced diet consisting of ‘meat and potato’ fare with plenty of fruits and vegetables, considering allergies, dietary requests, and camp preference.
Camp Cooks maintain 7-10 days of dedicated food supply in reserve and display menu flexibility, considering product on hand, re-supply considerations, and operational cost.
The kitchen is used by the crew throughout the day, Camp Cook provides a warm and inviting reprieve from daily operations, necessitating a positive attitude and restraint.
Camp Cooks must always facilitate kitchen operations according to ADEC standards.
Must be able to lift 50lbs and be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work legally in the U.S.
Valid CPR and First Aid
Position is seasonal, May through September.

We are looking for energetic, hardworking, and adventurous folks to provide an outstanding narrative on Alaska.
In this position, you will meet guests at the docks and safely transport them to our summer sled dog camp. Drive along the Alaska coastline, through old-growth forest and a historic mining site. Deliver an informative narrative on Alaska history, flora and fauna and prepare guests for an outstanding adventure with mushers and sled dogs.

Mush dogs in the picturesque Sheep Creek Valley in Juneau, Alaska!
Mushers provide sled dog cart rides to clients on designated trails. Mushers will maintain a positive outlook and attitude with dogs, guests, and coworkers.

Hiring Mushers with or without sled dogs
Prior mushing experience preferred
Seasonal Bonus for completion of the season

Duties:
Veterinary Technician will maintain inventory in all camps and vet locations Including ordering and stocking needed Veterinary supplies.
Vet Techs will go to Gold Rush's sister company Alaska Icefield Expeditions as well as Summer Camp on a regular basis. Weekly assignment as weather allows. They will visit each dog yard and provide comments and communication to the Camp Manager/ Management/ and Company Veterinarian for each visit.
Communications include health and wellbeing of the individual dogs specifically along with their treatment plans and who is assigned the care . They will also comment on precautions in place for females in heat, dog houses, level yards, any dogs with a low BCS. Photos will be included in all reports.
The Veterinary Technician will evaluate and address any concerns brought to their attention by the Camp Manager.
Musher(s) will report each issue or concern to the Camp Manager and if said concern is deemed necessary for consultation, the Veterinary Technician will then be called upon to make further evaluation and obtain treatment plan in conjunction with the company vet. They will communicate the plan verbally and in writing to camp.
Veterinary Technician will then assist with properly diagnosing the issue of said dog(s) and give further evaluation to each situation.
Veterinary Techn evaluation will result in either in house treatment at camp, given by responsible musher, or potentially seeking Veterinary medicine in town.
Vet Tech will inspect dogs on a regular basis, and no less than weekly, for BCS, injury, illness
Vet Tech will work closely with company vet to determine treatment plans
Will Maintain "Dogs First" Logs for dogs with injury, illness, puppies.
Will provide daily emails to management and to company vet
Will travel with dogs if care not available locally is required
Will treat/ walk/ supervise dog care of all dogs not being cared for in the dog yards.
Will exercise their full and complete knowledge to ensure the best care is provided.
The final say on a dog's treatment plan is that of the Company Vet. All instructions will be followed explicitly.
