El Capitan Lodge is located in Southeast Alaska on the NW side of Prince of Wales Island. 

About El Capitan Lodge

We are a full service, saltwater fishing lodge, accommodating 20 guests per group.  We consider El Capitan to be one of the best in our industry, with a 90% customer return rate.  From our remote location, our guests enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our chalet-style lodge, excellent salmon and halibut fishing, gourmet cuisine enhanced with local seafood, and personable staff.

The Employee Experience

We are a seasonal business that has been in operation for 31 years. We employ 24 individuals throughout our brief 3.5-month summer, filling a variety of positions.

Ideal Candidate

Our season runs from approximately May 16 through September 10. It is very important that each employee is available to work the entire season.

Each position is equally important to the smooth operation of the business. We expect all employees to work cooperatively and respect all workspaces. Employees ultimately work for the guests with the goal of making their stay as pleasant as possible.  Our staff is valuable and we want to keep you coming back! A love for the outdoors, a positive attitude and great customer service are what we look for in an ideal candidate.

Room and Board

All employees at the lodge have their own crew cabin with heat, TV, limited WiFi, linens provided, with shared baths in a separate building.  Crew meals are prepared by our culinary staff and served buffet/family style.  The crew dining room has a crew phone available as are remote with no cell service. Crew laundry room is provided with soap/softener at no charge.

Getting Here and Getting Around

You will need to fly to Ketchikan, Alaska.  We provide transportation to/from Prince of Wales Island for the job.

For Fun

We want our staff to thoroughly enjoy their time spent at the lodge. Days off are a perfect way to take advantage of the remote location.  There are activities available on days off, like kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, fishing in the cove in front of the lodge, and on occasion, if available, fishing on guest boats when a slot is open.  There is much wildlife around us from Humpback Whales, Sea Otters, Orca’s, Bald Eagles, Sitka Deer, and the occasional Black Bear.
