  • Start Pay: $30.00/ Hour - $31.05 after training is successfully completed!

  • FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Room and Board

We offer employee housing on a first-come, first-served basis. Our housing is subsidized and includes shared units with common bathrooms, plus a limited number of private rooms. All spaces are furnished with basic essentials. Housing assignments are based on availability and operational needs.

Employee Perks

Full-time staff receive 4 weeks of paid vacation plus 12 paid holidays, access to wellness clinics, and free mental health support for their families. All employees are eligible for a 10% retirement match with a 5% required contribution.

Getting Here and Getting Around

We recommend bringing a personal vehicle if possible, as it makes getting around easier. Initial transportation to our property can be arranged via airport shuttle, Uber or Taxi, but public transportation in the area is limited.

Our location offers a true mountain-town experience. On your days off, you can enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, rafting, and exploring scenic trails with incredible views. The area has great local restaurants, seasonal events, music festivals, and plenty of opportunities to relax outdoors or explore nearby attractions.     TRANSIT BUS OPERATOR We're looking for individuals who thrive on growth, maintain a positive attitude, and prioritize systems and safety in everything they do. Our ideal Transit Bus Operator understands that their role is an essential part of the larger system, ensuring the smooth operation of county transportation and moving people efficiently. As a Transit Bus Operator, you'll navigate the twists and turns of your prescribed route, picking up, transporting, and dropping off passengers on schedule while adhering to local, state, and federal laws and standards. Your journey will be guided by superior customer service, making every passenger's trip a pleasant experience. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to steer our seasonal operator training efforts, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

     Perform thorough, federally mandated pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.

    • Practice safe defensive driving techniques, always staying alert to speed and external conditions.

    • Assist passengers, including those with disabilities, ensuring compliance with ADA standards and providing a welcoming experience.

    • Share route and schedule information to help riders reach their destinations with ease.

    • Operate transit equipment, including fare boxes, dispatch systems, and security cameras, with confidence and precision.

    • Communicate professionally with dispatch and passengers, addressing policy questions and ensuring smooth operations.

    • Stay informed by regularly checking employee communication channels for updates on policies and procedures.

    • Complete and submit all required paperwork, including accident and incident reports, with accuracy and timeliness.

    • Observe safety and security procedures, report potential hazards, and maintain a safe work environment.

    • Serve the community by demonstrating Core Transit’s mission and values in every interaction.

    • Other duties as assigned 

    EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS 

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent 

    • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record. 

    PREFERRED

    • CDL Permit or CDL Class B with passenger endorsement

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

    • CDL permit and then class B CDL License with passenger endorsement must be obtained within 30 days of hire date. 

    • Must meet all physical requirements outlined in Section 391.41 of the CDL Physical Standards, including passing a DOT physical. 

    • Must comply with all federal regulations and company policies regarding drug and alcohol testing, including meeting the standards set forth by 49 CFR Part 655, 49 CFR Part 40, and the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, as amended. 

    COMPREHENSIVE PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROCESS

    At Core Transit, safety and reliability are our top priorities. To ensure we’re building the best team, all candidates must:

    • Pass a detailed background check to confirm eligibility.

    • Complete a Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol test successfully.

    • Undergo a CDL Medical Exam to confirm fitness for duty and compliance with federal standards.

    • Provide references to verify qualifications and experience.

    LOCATION & COMMITMENTS:  

    • Working hours will vary, Monday-Sunday, 23hrs a day, 8/10-hour shifts.  

    • Ability to work from all our locations Avon, Vail, Leadville as needed. 

    • Availability to work holidays and weekends. 

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS This role requires:

    • Mobility: Sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, and climbing on and off buses.

    • Coordination: Simultaneous use of arms, hands, legs, and feet to safely operate the vehicle.

    • Strength: Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds occasionally.

    • Endurance: Maintaining focus and alertness during long shifts and challenging road conditions.

    • Vision & Hearing: Clear communication and the ability to respond to emergency situations.

    COMPREHENSIVE PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROCESS

    • Must pass a detailed background check.

    • Must successfully complete a Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol test.

    • Must undergo a CDL Medical Exam to confirm fitness for duty.

    • Reference checks will be conducted to verify qualifications and experience.
