The Store Associate plays a key role in delivering a seamless and engaging guest experience across Four Mountain Sports retail and rental locations. This role is designed as a multi-functional position with a primary area of focus in either Retail Sales, Rental Technician, or Cashier operations, while supporting the broader team and other store locations as needed. Associates are expected to create welcoming, personalized interactions, understand guest needs, and confidently guide them toward the right products and services, helping to inspire each guest’s experience on the mountain and deepen their connection to Aspen Snowmass. This position reports to the Store Manager.

Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities
Deliver a welcoming first impression and a service-driven experience by engaging guests with thoughtful questions to understand their needs, experience level, and goals
Provide personalized product and service recommendations, outfitting guests holistically through effective selling and cross-selling of apparel, hardgoods, and accessories
Execute retail sales with confidence by leveraging strong product knowledge to communicate features, benefits, and appropriate use of equipment and merchandise
Support rental operations by selecting, fitting, and adjusting equipment to ensure comfort, performance, and safety while guiding guests efficiently through the process
Operate point-of-sale systems accurately and efficiently, ensuring smooth transactions while adhering to all cash handling procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually compelling sales floor by executing merchandising and store presentation standards
Support inventory management through restocking, transfers, and cycle counts to ensure product availability and accuracy
Work collaboratively across retail, rental, and cashier functions to support business needs, demonstrating flexibility based on store demand
Maintain composure and deliver consistent service during high-volume periods while communicating effectively with team members and leadership
Address and resolve guest concerns with a sense of ownership, ensuring positive outcomes and escalating when appropriate
Represent Aspen Snowmass and Four Mountain Sports with professionalism while adhering to uniform, grooming, and appearance standards
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
1-2 years of experience in retail, hospitality, rental, or guest service roles prefferred
Prior experience in ski or snowboard rental operations or technical equipment fitting preferred
Minimum 6 months of experience handling cash transactions and operating point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of retail sales practices, guest service standards, and rental operations
Knowledge of winter sports equipment, apparel, and accessories, including basic fit and function
Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling procedures, and transaction accuracy
Understanding of visual merchandising standards and inventory management practices
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and create meaningful guest interactions
Skill in listening to guest needs and recommending appropriate products and services to drive sales and enhance the guest experience
Skill in operating POS systems and completing transactions accurately and efficiently
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing business demands in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively with team members across functions to support store operations and guest needs
Ability to maintain attention to detail in merchandising, inventory, and operational execution
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
Additional Information
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Ability to stand and move throughout the store for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry equipment and merchandise up to 40–50 lbs.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
