Agassiz Village is an SEL-focused camp working to make sure EVERY child can go to camp! We work specifically with partners in under-resourced communities to get kids and teens to camp regardless of income. With campers from Boston, NYC, and Maine, we embrace the diversity of our campers and try to mirror that with our staff.
We are looking for cabin counselors who are excited to spend their days outside on beautiful Lake Thompson with a great group of campers. Your job is to take part in the activities with campers, keep them engaged and safe, and be the kind of person that they know they can count on. You'll build trust, rapport, and respect from Day 1 and you'll model the 5 core SEL competencies - self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
Our season runs from June 21-August 7, with staff arriving June 20 to move in and get settled before our week-long staff training where you'll learn everything you need to be the best camp counselor you can be! Sessions are 12 days long with two days off between, and we run 3 sessions throughout the summer. Staff get daily time off and one full 24-hour period off during a session to make sure you have time to enjoy all Maine has to offer.
