About Yellow Kittens / Winfield's
Yellow Kittens has been in operation on Block Island since 1876. It has live music and dancing most nights. There are two restaurants on the property. Winfield’s is widely considered one of the best restaurants on Block Island. It offers an upscale fine dining experience featuring a menu with global influences. Los Gatitos has a loyal following of both locals and tourists alike. It offers a fun Mexican inspired menu for lunch and early dinner — no visit to Block Island is complete without our legendary nachos and a frozen margarita!
The Employee Experience
We are a family-run business that offers employees the opportunity to work hard, have fun, and make lasting memories. We expect staff to work full time with overtime and you can expect to have 1.5 days off. You can enjoy going to the beach, hiking, swimming and fishing when you are not working. We offer employee discounts at all locations and employee meal daily. We offer competitive wages and bonuses. We are a big family.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for energetic people, with positive attitudes, attention to detail and who are team players! We are looking for experienced kitchen staff. We may also be willing to train the right candidate.
Room and Board
Our housing is located on-site, next to the Yellow Kittens Tavern. Most rooms are single rooms, however we have 2 spaces with shared rooms. Bathrooms are shared. There is a refrigerator, microwave, gas grill and coffee maker available for use. Housing is limited and is available for full season commitments. Rent is $100/week which includes utilities and laundry service.
Employee Perks
We offer complimentary employee meal nightly and free coffee, tea, soda, juice and a shift cocktail after work. There is a 50% discount on alcoholic drinks, and 25% off food when you are not working. There is 50% off corporate merchandise (t-shirts, hoodies, etc.). Employees are offered complimentary admission to Yellow Kittens (over 21).
Getting Here and Getting Around
It is not necessary to bring a personal vehicle to work at Yellow Kittens/Winfield's. We are located in town within a 1/8 mile of the grocery store, bank, liquor store, shops, ferry, post office, restaurants, etc.
For Fun
The workplace is 50 yards from Crescent beach, a 2 mile stretch of beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear water. We are one of a few places that offer live music and dancing, so you can enjoy having fun at night with friends. There are miles of public hiking trails where you can partake in the popular "Glass Float Contest." If you are lucky, you may find your own glass float. You can enjoy biking, surfing, fishing, kayaking, SUP, banana boat rides, yoga, and more.
