Lead the Adventure: Seasonal Trip Leader in the Maine Woods
Bryant Pond 4-H Learning Center is looking for you.
The Position: What You’ll Do
As a Trip Leader, you have the most in-tents and best experience at camp. You’ll be facilitating our Guiding & Woodscraft Skills Program OR our Wilderness Survival Bushcraft Program.
Lead & Guide: Co-lead 2-4 day expeditions involving hiking, canoeing, and backcountry camping.
Teach: Backcountry skills, OR wilderness survival skills.
Mentor: Model positive behavior and foster a sense of community among campers.
Logistics: Manage trip meal prep and safely transport campers in 12-passenger vans to various trailheads and waterways.
Who You Are
We are looking for experienced outdoors-people who can keep a cool head while portaging a canoe or navigating a trail.
Skills: Proven experience leading backpacking and canoeing trips.
Strength: Ability to carry a 35+ lb. pack over varied terrain and assist in carrying 85 lb. canoes.
Certifications: This job includes paid training to earn your Wilderness First Aid (WFA) & Maine Trip Leader Certification

The Details: When & How Much
Season: This is a 10-week temporary position for the Summer 2026 season.
Training: Kick off the summer with a comprehensive two-week paid training to sharpen your technical and facilitation skills.
Compensation: A weekly stipend of $500 - $550, paid bi-weekly.
Room & Board: On-site tent-living and indoor storage space and meals are provided as part of the camp experience.

The mission of the University of Maine 4-H Center in Bryant Pond is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to lead sustainable lives through affordable, experiential learning.
